0:00
- Good morning y'all.
0:02
Guess what we're thinking about around here today
0:06
and probably tomorrow
0:07
and the next day, we are thinking about Valentine's Day.
0:12
It's hard to believe that our,
0:15
it's been almost a year since our lives were all changed.
0:19
And it's already February and women,
0:28
I'm speaking for us girls Teresa.
0:31
(Teresa laughs)
0:33
We like Valentine's day kind of, don't we?
0:36
- [Teresa] Yes.
0:38
- You know, a box of candy or some flowers
0:41
or just your partner do something nice for you
0:45
and romantical for you.
0:48
Well, let me tell you.
0:49
- [Teresa] How is that word, romantical?
0:50
- Romantical.
0:51
Oh my gosh.
0:52
I thought that was a real word.
0:54
- [Teresa] I know you do.
0:54
- Because Michael would say romantical.
0:58
I think he was mimicking Popeye the sailor man
1:01
I don't remember.
1:02
But I used it because I thought it was a real word.
1:04
Well, it's not, but it sounds right on my tongue.
1:07
So anyway, when he and I first started our relationship
1:11
and you know, he stayed at my house most of the time
1:16
when he wasn't working
1:17
or with his children.
1:19
And I would get up
1:22
in the morning, slip out of bed, go into the kitchen,
1:26
and cook him a fabulous breakfast.
1:29
And I would put it on my silver tray and bring it up to him.
1:38
I bet he misses those days.
1:41
Cause they are long gone,
1:44
but there's nothing y'all like falling in love.
1:48
You know, women, we just almost fall in love
1:51
with the word love, but it was so great.
1:55
I mean, you just feel so good.
1:57
You have so much energy
1:58
and you just think the other person is just perfect
2:05
and oh gosh,
2:07
I wish it was something we could order from Amazon.
2:12
I'd like to order a love affair
2:15
or a love partner.
2:18
I guess you can do that, but not on Amazon.
2:21
- [Teresa] Exactly.
2:23
- But there's nothing like that feeling, y'all.
2:25
So those memories
2:28
that I have of treating Michael like a king came back
2:33
to me when I started thinking about Valentine's Day.
2:37
So I'm gonna start off,
2:39
if you like to celebrate Valentine's Day early
2:42
in the morning and have the whole day to send love yous
2:48
and notes and flowers and candy,
2:51
this is a great little recipe
2:54
to start off with on Valentine's morning and you can put it
2:58
on a silver tray with their juice
3:00
and a cup of coffee and it'll get you some points.
3:03
I promise you.
3:05
So I'm gonna start.
3:07
Oh, and did I tell you how easy it is?
3:11
Because you can actually make this
3:17
to a certain point the night before.
3:23
All right.
3:24
So I'm using five eggs.
3:32
You know,
3:32
I miss my chicken coop and my chickens so bad.
3:39
(water runs)
3:42
I used to love getting those fresh eggs.
3:44
And sometimes they would all be double yolks, you know.
3:49
I could get an egg so big
3:51
and then I could get a little teeny one.
3:54
So I think when we get settled at Dogwood,
3:56
I bet you I might be able
3:59
to figure out a way to have chickens again.
4:02
- [Teresa] Oh, daddy's thrilled.
4:03
- Yes, huh.
4:04
What Teresa?
4:05
- [Teresa] I said daddy's thrilled.
4:06
- Yes, Eddie's happy.
4:06
- [Eddie] Oh, I miss the chickens too.
4:09
- You do Eddie?
4:10
- [Eddie] Yeah, and the duck.
4:11
- And the oh, did you show Teresa a picture of the duck?
4:14
- [Eddie] No, I'll have to pull it up.
4:15
- Oh, you know, we didn't want to leave.
4:18
Okay, half a teaspoon of salt,
4:21
half a teaspoon of garlic powder
4:23
and about a fourth of a teaspoon of black pepper.
4:29
So we just gonna beat that up good.
4:32
And I've already, this is like a sausage, egg,
4:35
and cheese biscuit.
4:38
A little bit fancier than
4:39
what you get from a fast food drive in.
4:44
So let's see.
4:46
It feels pretty hot.
4:49
And that's where I cooked the sausage.
4:53
So we got all those nice drippings in there.
4:57
That's going to flavor our eggs,.
5:02
See the specs of sausage?
5:05
You know, there's a lot
5:06
of flavor in those little scaley pieces.
5:13
How would you describe those little bits
5:16
of goodness left in a pan after you fry something up good?
5:26
Okay.
5:28
Doesn't take long.
5:34
Now we're gonna add green onion and diced pamena,
5:41
like pamena cheese, that kind of pamena.
5:44
And I'm just going to toss that in with our sausage.
5:51
And so this is going to be pretty and colorful, y'all.
6:03
Okay.
6:04
So just that quick, our eggs are ready
6:09
and I think that I'm going to put them back
6:14
in the pan, in the bowl
6:18
that I used to beat them up.
6:21
Cause it's a little bit bigger
6:24
and it'll finish cooking the little bit
6:26
of egg juice that was in our bowl.
6:29
Cause then we'll stir it all together.
6:33
All right.
6:33
Now I'm going to fold in our ground sausage, our peppers,
6:42
and our pamena.
6:43
I mean, green onions, I'm sorry, green onions.
6:51
So look how pretty that is.
6:53
And so,
6:58
now I'm going to add our cheese so
7:01
that our cheese can start melting.
7:08
Yum.
7:09
This is a fancy biscuit, isn't it?
7:15
And sometimes I'll make sausage biscuits here at the house
7:21
and Michael and I love cause I'll usually, you know,
7:25
make more and put in the refrigerator
7:29
and we love being able to go the refrigerator
7:32
and just pull out us a sausage biscuit
7:36
and heat it up real quick,
7:37
if we're on the go and in a hurry.
7:41
So we're gonna let this cool for about 15 or 20 minutes.
7:46
And while that's cooling,
7:49
I have got a big old sleeve of buttermilk biscuits.
7:57
And these are the big ones.
8:02
I'm always so scared
8:03
that it's gonna pop open before I'm ready for it.
8:08
That was a big pop, wasn't it?
8:09
Okay.
8:10
So we're gonna roll out our biscuits
8:14
to about six inches
8:20
and I'm just gonna be guessing what six inches is.
8:32
That looks about six inches doesn't it Eddie?
8:38
- [Eddie] Looks good.
8:39
- You know me, and I'm not real good at measuring
8:41
in inches like that.
8:44
- [Teresa] Neither is Teresa.
8:50
- I think I'm better than Michael, but okay.
8:56
So we're going to get these ready.
8:58
And after I get them rolled out,
9:02
we're gonna stuff them with our sausage and egg mixture
9:07
and we're going to just pull it up
9:10
and just bake those biscuits,
9:15
along with the eggs and sausage,
9:19
it's gonna be so good.
9:21
And like I said, you could get them
9:23
to this stage where you put them together
9:27
and just put them in the refrigerator overnight
9:29
and you just pull them out and pop them in the oven.
9:32
And so you'll be able
9:34
to have Valentine's breakfast very very quick.
9:42
Okay y'all,
9:44
I've gotten them all done,
9:45
but after I've just saved one
9:47
to show y'all how we finish this egg cheese
9:51
and sausage biscuit up.
9:53
So I rolled out the biscuits to about six inches
9:57
in circumference and I'm using just a little piece
10:02
of wax paper so they won't stick.
10:07
So I'm gonna just go around here in the, with,
10:13
in the edges.
10:14
Oh no Pumpkin get down.
10:17
- [Teresa] Come here Pump.
10:18
- [Paula] Get down Pumpkin
10:20
Look at Pumpkin Eddie.
10:22
She's wanting to be on the show.
10:25
- [Teresa] I've never seen you do that.
10:26
- [Paula] Oh yeah.
10:27
Did you get her?
10:29
- [Eddie] Yeah.
10:31
- [Teresa] Come here Pump.
10:33
- Okay.
10:34
So the recipe tells you it'll make eight,
10:41
but I've actually got enough filling
10:45
that I could make two more, you know, if I had the biscuits.
10:49
So all we're gonna do is pull up some
10:55
of the biscuit and then we're going to come over here
10:59
and do the opposite side.
11:01
And you can see now why I wet the rim of that biscuit,
11:09
because you really do need a little touch a water
11:13
or eggs or something to keep the biscuits sealed
11:18
and you just pinch it up just like that.
11:25
And we have decided y'all the recipe and I'm cooking,
11:33
I'm cooking a recipe.
11:36
It's actually out
11:37
of my Christmas magazine, Cooking with Paula Dean Magazine.
11:41
But so many of my recipes in the special issues,
11:47
I mean, you can use them all year round.
11:51
So I thought this was very romantical
11:54
for Valentine's morning.
11:55
And this is what they're going
11:56
to look like when we get through with them y'all.
12:01
And of course, you know,
12:02
if your honey doesn't like sausage,
12:06
you can swap out with ham or with bacon or even chicken.
12:11
You know, if they're a big chicken
12:13
and biscuit lover.
12:14
All right.
12:15
So we've got all of them done,
12:17
and it's says to bake them in a preheated 350 degree oven.
12:24
I believe that's what it says.
12:29
Yeah.
12:30
350 degrees.
12:32
And we're going to bake them for about 12 minutes.
12:38
But before we get them in the oven,
12:41
so anyway, my recipe calls for you to bake them
12:49
in the oven 350 for about 12 minutes,
12:53
but Teresa and I got to talking
12:57
and you know,
12:58
I think this will be perfect for the air fryer,
13:02
because I have some other things
13:04
that I'm gonna be cooking.
13:06
And so that'll save my space
13:10
for some big things that I've got going in.
13:19
Beautiful.
13:20
Now this egg wash that I'm putting along,
13:22
on them y'all is gonna make them shiny.
13:29
I don't know if you notice the picture
13:31
that I just showed you, how glossy and shiny they were.
13:36
Well that's because they have the egg wash on them.
13:42
Make sure that's pinched up together good.
13:46
Cause I don't want the stuff coming out of it.
13:50
So anyway, we are gonna cook these
13:54
in the air fryer and we'll have to keep a close eye
13:59
on them because the air fryer cooks so much faster
14:05
than the regular oven.
14:08
All right.
14:10
So I'm gonna cut me a piece
14:11
of parchment paper
14:13
to go into the air fryer so they won't stick.
14:20
Let's see.
14:24
I'm just gonna guess at this y'all.
14:41
(paper crinkles)
14:43
I'm gonna cut it, fold it in half.
14:47
And then I'm gonna cut when I feel like it's a circle.
15:02
I'm right handed,
15:03
so I have to kind of do it this way
15:07
and it doesn't have to be perfect y'all,
15:09
just something to sit down
15:16
in the bottom of our our air fryer.
15:22
That's not too bad, is it?
15:25
It's pretty close.
15:30
Okay so I'm just gonna,
15:39
I'm just gonna put these in our air fryer.
15:47
I can't ell y'all how much I use this air fryer.
15:49
It's just crazy.
15:51
I would never put it
15:53
in a cabinet because I use it way too much.
16:03
Oh, these are so pretty.
16:05
They almost look like a cat head biscuit.
16:09
You know what a cat head biscuit looks like?
16:14
It's big.
16:21
I should have floured the bottom though before I set them
16:26
on that parchment paper over there.
16:31
Those are the first ones I did, got ready, they stuck.
16:44
Beautiful.
16:47
Beautiful.
16:48
Okay, Eddie, we're going to let the magic happen.
16:56
And I'm gonna go back and dot it with the egg,
16:59
just in case I rubbed any of that flour.
17:06
If I got any flour on the outside of it.
17:08
So I'll make sure that's covered too.
17:17
And you want to cover the whole thing with the egg wash.
17:23
Because if you've missed a spot,
17:30
that spot on your biscuit will be dull
17:35
where the rest of it will be shiny.
17:36
So you want to make sure you got every bit bathed
17:41
in that egg.
17:43
Okay.
17:44
So I'm going to put this in the air fryer y'all.
17:46
And I'm gonna actually have,
17:47
Eddie you want to come around here so they can see?
17:53
So I'm going to pull this out so you can see it.
17:55
So what does it say?
17:59
Bake 350.
18:01
I think, I usually use every, you know, 400 degrees.
18:07
400 for meat, 400 for pizza, but I'm going to do the bake.
18:13
So I'm going to put it on 350,
18:18
and I'm gonna pull
18:19
that around a little bit and then turn it back.
18:23
I'm going to do it for 10 minutes
18:25
because you know
18:26
that this cooks so much faster y'all than this right here.
18:34
Then this.
18:38
Look how beautiful y'all.
18:42
Now, if you put this on a tray and took it
18:47
to the love of your life and fed them in bed,
18:52
they would have to feel that they've got
18:58
to show some gratitude for that, girls and guys.
19:02
So this is an easy recipe.
19:06
You could have taken them to where I did them.
19:09
And right before I put the egg wash on them,
19:12
you could put them in the refrigerator
19:14
and then take them out in the morning.
19:16
Let them sit on the counter a little bit
19:18
to get it room temperature and throw them in the oven.
19:23
It won't take but a minute.
19:25
So I did, I wound up cooking these in the air fryer y'all
19:28
because I've got other things that's going
19:30
in my regular oven.
19:36
So I want to cut into one
19:37
of these and show y'all what it's gonna look like.
19:44
How does that look?
19:46
Does that look Eddie?
19:47
- [Eddie] Yes it does.
19:50
- And you know, this is one
19:50
of those things you could really pick up
19:54
and eat it with your hand,
19:56
but you know what to me see in the pamenas
19:58
and the onions.
19:59
It reminds me a little bit of like a Mexican breakfast.
20:04
And I think it would be very good served along
20:06
with salsa or sliced tomatoes.
20:11
But that is so beautiful.
20:15
These turned out just as pretty as the ones
20:18
that were photographed for the magazine.
20:20
So they really are really easy to do.
20:25
I about looked at it all I can y'all.
20:34
Yum.
20:37
Yum.
20:38
I don't have another word for it.
20:40
Yum.
20:44
So get in there
20:45
and show your partner
20:46
that you love them.
20:48
And feed them breakfast in bed on Valentine's Day.
20:53
Love and best dishes, y'all.
