- All right, y'all.
0:04
On this recipe,
0:07
I hope that y'all will pay closer attention
0:13
than my three dogs are right now.
0:18
Because I just mixed this up last night.
0:28
There's really no recipe for it.
0:30
So I hope that y'all will pay close attention
0:34
because I thought this was out of this world.
0:40
Years and years ago,
0:41
I had formulated a recipe
0:47
using tomatoes and bread.
0:50
So I would highly recommend y'all that you use old,
0:58
not necessarily old, but stale bread,
1:04
because I'll put,
1:05
when I have this much leftover of a loaf,
1:09
I will put it in the freezer.
1:13
And then I can make croutons out of it
1:16
or breadcrumbs to go on top of a casserole.
1:21
And it sure does cut good when it's seen better days.
1:28
All right, I am gonna start by spraying my dish
1:35
because this will have a tendency to stick.
1:39
And you know, I had cooked some wonderful
1:44
boneless fried chicken breast and fresh peas and rice,
1:48
but I needed one more dish.
1:49
So I started digging through the freezer.
1:52
I started digging through my pantry.
1:53
And I said, "Okay, I'll see if this doesn't work."
1:56
Well it worked and it was delicious, y'all.
2:00
So I'm gonna take my bread.
2:03
And I'm gonna put just a little butter on it.
2:11
Just a little bit.
2:12
And I'm just gonna butter the one side of it.
2:15
All right, now I'm putting a little dab of cream cheese.
2:26
Talk about quick and easy.
2:29
This is quick and easy
2:32
and delicious.
2:35
And it would be a good side with about anything
2:39
you wanted to serve it alongside of.
2:44
Is that butter?
2:45
Yeah, that's just butter.
2:50
All right, let's see.
2:51
This one's just butter, isn't it?
2:54
- [Camera Operator] And then that last one over
2:55
to the right at the bottom right.
2:57
- Right here?
2:58
- [Camera Operator] Nope, go one more down.
2:59
- Bottom right?
3:00
- [Camera Operator] Right there.
3:01
- This one?
3:02
- [Camera Operator] No, your bottom left.
3:03
- Bottom left?
3:04
- [Camera Operator] Okay, okay I should have said
3:06
my bottom right.
3:07
- That's all right.
3:10
All right, so I'm gonna.
3:14
I found if I cut them like this,
3:16
I could get a little bit more in there.
3:22
(bread crackles)
3:26
I do love bread, any way I can get it, y'all.
3:29
All right, now this just set it apart.
3:39
- [Camera Operator] What is it?
3:40
- Fresh mozzarella cheese, y'all.
3:44
And I wanna make sure every piece of that bread
3:50
gets a dollop of that mozzarella.
3:54
To me, that just made it.
4:00
It's amazing, you know, what all you can come up with, y'all
4:04
when you have to, isn't it?
4:18
Is somebody snoring?
4:20
- [Camera Operator] And that would be Lulu.
4:24
- Poor thing, she's exhausted from helping me.
4:27
(Paula laughs)
4:30
All right.
4:35
There we go.
4:38
And I'll just finish off putting a little bit more.
4:49
Is that butter or cream cheese?
4:50
That's cream cheese, isn't it?
4:52
- [Camera Operator] Yeah, you have both on those.
4:54
- Yeah, I'll go ahead and stick it in someplace.
5:02
And just to make sure I have enough cream cheese,
5:06
because between the cream cheese and the mozzarella,
5:09
it's so good.
5:18
Now I hope that y'all will take this
5:22
and maybe do a little something different to it.
5:28
So I can't wait to see what y'all come up with.
5:32
All right, now I'm using a can
5:34
of fire roasted diced tomatoes.
5:36
And this has garlic in it, which I'm so happy about.
5:41
(pan clinks)
5:52
Yes, yes, yes.
5:59
Does this remind you of anything, Theresa?
6:03
This, does it?
6:05
- [Camera Operator] Like a pizza and a.
6:06
- [Paula] Kinda, I mean, yeah.
6:08
Yeah, kinda.
6:09
- [Camera Operator] Well, like a French stuffing,
6:10
I mean like a stuffing with.
6:12
- [Paula] I don't know.
6:13
- [Camera Operator] It sounds, I can't wait to taste it.
6:14
- [Paula] It's delicious.
6:17
Just a little bit of salt, not a whole bunch.
6:22
And a little bit.
6:23
Michael actually loved it.
6:25
- [Camera Operator] I bet.
6:26
(machine whirs)
6:31
Now you had out some heavy whipping cream is it?
6:33
- [Paula] I do.
6:35
- [Camera Operator] I'm just jumpin' ahead.
6:36
- [Paula] Yes, because of all of that bread y'all.
6:39
It was not a whole bunch of liquid in those tomatoes.
6:43
So what I did was I just drizzled.
6:49
You know what, I'm gonna clean out that tomato can.
6:53
I just went around and poured some heavy cream
7:04
in there so we'd have some kind of liquid, you know,
7:07
for that bread to soak up.
7:16
- [Camera Operator] And I guess if you didn't wanna use
7:18
cream, you could use like a.
7:21
- [Paula] Oh half and half or, or a evaporated.
7:24
- [Camera Operator] Could you use
7:25
even like a bouillon, like a chicken?
7:27
- Yeah, yeah, chicken broth.
7:29
Yes you could.
7:32
So as this is cooking, I'll keep an eye on it
7:35
to make sure it doesn't need any more liquid.
7:41
So I think I cooked this
7:43
for about 20 minutes in my air fryer.
7:48
Y'all just won't believe how good
7:49
this bread and tomatoes are together.
7:57
(pan clatters)
8:03
430 for about 20 minutes.
8:08
Oh, there you are.
8:09
For about 20 minutes.
8:12
I love my air fryer.
8:14
And it's been cooking about 12 or 14 minutes.
8:24
Because of the bread,
8:25
you know, I'm having to give back the casserole some liquid.
8:29
So I'm out of the heavy cream,
8:31
but I do have some half and half.
8:36
And so I'm gonna just make sure
8:38
and then after, after this sets real good.
8:49
I'm gonna take my knife now.
8:54
So that juice can get all the way in there.
9:00
(pan clatters)
9:05
Let that cook some more.
9:07
And then I'm gonna top it with buttered panko,
9:15
and it's gonna be mighty fine.
9:18
All right, the last step, oops.
9:20
The last step on this is a buttered panko
9:26
and that's gonna give it this nice crunch on top.
9:32
I forgot to turn the voice down on the TV,
9:35
so I hope y'all can hear me.
9:36
Theresa and I are trying to watch the news.
9:39
(Paula laughs)
9:43
- [Camera Operator] How many minutes, Paula, would you say?
9:45
- Okay, so we'll probably do this for about five minutes.
9:50
It really does cook fast in the air fryer,
9:54
so we're just gonna let that brown and get a crunch on it.
9:58
Ooh.
10:01
Look at that fresh mozzarella the way it just strings.
10:06
I love it.
10:08
Love it, love it, love it.
10:10
And look how hot Theresa.
10:12
- [Camera Operator] I think you might need
10:13
to let that sit for a second.
10:14
- You think?
10:15
- [Camera Operator] Yes.
10:16
- We'll be right back.
10:21
Mm.
10:25
Mm.
10:30
This is so yummy.
10:33
And to me, if you like Italian food,
10:38
to me, this is very Italian, mm.
10:47
And so very, very, very good.
10:51
- [Camera Operator] And a great way to use that bread.
10:52
- Mhm.
10:53
- [Camera Operator] Because people are always
10:54
trying to figure out what to do with old bread.
10:55
- That's right.
10:57
I feel like I could eat all of that by myself.
11:00
So remember it was the stale French loaf,
11:04
sliced, buttered, cream cheese, fresh mozzarella.
11:11
Just put it in your casserole dish,
11:14
make sure you spray it, so it won't stick.
11:18
Fire roasted tomatoes on top.
11:24
- [Camera Operator] Whipping cream.
11:26
Or half and half or something.
11:28
- Heavy cream or half and half, just pour it around there.
11:30
So you've got some liquid for that bread to,
11:38
for that bread to have something
11:41
to absorb so it won't be dry.
11:45
- [Camera Operator] And then I would say you did
11:46
about 20 minutes in the air fryer.
11:48
- Yeah.
11:49
- [Camera Operator] And then added on the topping?
11:51
- Uh-huh and then buttered my panko
11:55
and put that on the top for the,
11:57
like the last five minutes y'all.
11:59
So like I said, take this, do it just like that,
12:03
or do something to make it your own.
12:05
You know what else would be good in this?
12:07
Is maybe some sliced real thin, fresh eggplant
12:12
and it would almost be like eggplant parm, you know?
12:16
- [Camera Operator] Or you could put like a,
12:17
you could put like a cooked sausage
12:19
or, I mean there's all kinds of things you could do to it.
12:22
- Mhm, mhm.
12:25
But it's so very good just like this.
12:31
Mm.
12:32
Just make sure you use the fire roasted tomatoes
12:35
with either basil or garlic or both.
12:40
So here's to y'all, love and best dishes.
12:48
Mm, mm.
12:49
Mm, mm, mm.
