- It's a season for the three F's.
0:06
Football, fam, no football,
0:10
what was the other one I was gonna think of?
0:14
I guess family is what I had in my mind.
0:17
And oh no, it was football, friends and food.
0:24
That's the season for the three F's, right Eddie?
0:30
So if it's not baseball, it's football.
0:35
So, you know, one of the things I love
0:37
about my magazine Cooking with Paula Deen Magazine
0:40
and this recipe is in one of the magazines
0:43
that I'm gonna share with y'all today.
0:45
It's a wonderful appetizer to fix
0:49
for your fellas while they're watching the game.
0:54
And this can be a really hot little dish
1:00
so it calls for hot sauce and red pepper.
1:06
So you might wanna adjust the recipe to your liking.
1:11
Now Michael, he would like all of the hot in there.
1:15
Me, I'm a sissy, I couldn't do it.
1:19
All right, so I've got three
1:22
wonderful little chicken breasts
1:26
and I'm really gonna try to cut these all the same size
1:31
because it's like when you're making cookies,
1:35
you wanna keep them all as close to the same size
1:39
as you can so that they'll all cook at the same time.
1:46
All right, so I got our nuggets all prepped.
1:51
Now we're gonna put them in our bowl with flour
1:58
and you need to make sure
2:00
all these are coated real well, real, real well.
2:08
Now we're gonna come over here
2:09
and I've got my eggs and my buttermilk.
2:22
And to that I'm going to add my garlic powder
2:32
I'm chicken, I'm only gonna use about half.
2:52
Now this, my hot sauce to me really appears
2:57
to bring a lot of flavor, but not a lot of heat.
3:02
But I am afraid of that red pepper.
3:06
Now we're gonna take our chicken
3:11
and we're gonna put it in our buttermilk mixture
3:15
and we're gonna let it refrigerate for two hours.
3:18
So it's really gonna get a chance to soak up that flavor.
3:25
All righty y'all, it's been a little over two hours,
3:31
so we are gonna roll our bites
3:36
of chicken in crushed pretzels.
3:40
You can see I got them right here
3:43
and that's going to be so tasty on it.
3:45
It's gonna be a little on the salty side.
3:48
And now I'm gonna add
3:50
shredded Parmesan cheese to the pretzels.
3:55
So it's gonna have a little cheese on it too.
3:57
Now where did I set those?
4:07
It's gonna make a mess on my finger
4:11
so I'm gonna try to do it with my tongs.
4:22
Ooh, love the smell of the pretzels.
4:33
You know what, I'm gonna put that,
4:37
I think I'm gonna let them sit
4:39
in the pretzels till I can get every one of them.
4:44
I'm gonna have to do these in two batches y'all,
4:49
I can squeeze one more in there.
4:55
And they make these little liners now
4:57
that you can get for your Air Fryer.
5:01
And that just helps you keep it clean.
5:06
All right, so now I'm gonna spray these
5:12
because when you cook in the air fryer,
5:14
the heat is so powerful
5:17
that you wanna put some non-stick coating on it.
5:22
And that will help make it crunchy
5:26
because with fried foods, isn't that what we all love?
5:32
I know I love the crunchy.
5:41
When this gets about to the end,
5:45
you can't get it all out.
5:49
All right, I'm gonna put this on wings
5:58
and that's gonna give it 18 minutes at 400 degrees
6:04
but I am actually gonna lower the time.
6:10
I'm gonna move it to about nine minutes
6:13
and then I'll start checking it.
6:16
All right, our chicken nuggets are about to come out
6:20
of the air fryer and I think I wound up cooking them
6:23
maybe 13 minutes I think, so we've got a cup of mayonnaise
6:34
and about a third of a cup of buttermilk.
6:41
So we're just gonna stir this up and I'm gonna peek in here
6:44
at my chicken nuggets and see what they look like.
6:49
Oh, they look beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
6:54
Ooh, and you can hear the crunch.
7:02
All right, now I got a few more over here
7:03
that I'm gonna have to cook,
7:06
but this is enough for us to taste.
7:09
So let's get back over here and keep making our sauce.
7:14
All right, so I've got my one cup of mayonnaise,
7:19
a third of a cup of buttermilk, and now I'm gonna put in
7:22
one one ounce package of ranch dressing mix
7:29
and it calls for three tablespoons of Sriracha sauce.
7:35
And Theresa said, you kind of like hot things, don't you?
7:39
- [Theresa] Yeah, but that's a lot.
7:41
- She said, Paula, that's a lot.
7:43
She said, I don't know if I'd use, all right,
7:46
so why don't we just start one tablespoon at the time.
7:51
What you think, what you think about that?
8:03
Okay, now this is gonna get real thick
8:07
because of the ranch dressing
8:12
because it's got something close
8:15
to like corn starch, that causes it to thicken.
8:23
All right, so let's put a finger in it.
8:32
I'm such a sissy, Eddie, stick your finger in it.
8:36
Tell me what you think please.
8:46
- [Speaker] I mean, I think that's good,
8:48
especially if the chicken's got a little spice to it.
8:50
- Yeah, so now I've got two tablespoons.
9:00
Y'all come on, Theres, Eddie.
9:07
- [Theresa] Eddie, how spicy is it?
9:09
- [Speaker] It wasn't bad.
9:11
- [Theresa] Okay, think Eddie like splicer
9:14
- [Speaker] No, I'm not a spicy person.
9:30
I love the taste of the pretzels.
9:36
I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't so sure about this recipe.
9:39
- As I was doing it, I was like, wasn't really sure
9:42
if I think this is gonna be good or bad.
9:45
- Remember I only put in the buttermilk
9:50
like a half a teaspoon and the red pepper.
9:55
So it seriously could been a lot higher y'all.
10:03
Are you lighting up Theresa?
10:06
It's a good light up though.
10:15
And like I said, you surprise your men
10:20
while they're watching football
10:21
and they going to think
10:23
you are the best partner in the whole world.
10:28
- So y'all go get it and you'll be a star.
