- Hey everybody, it's Bobby here,
0:02
and it's the beginning of the new year.
0:04
We always start off the year with air fryer recipes,
0:06
and today I'm gonna do an air fryer recipe for you
0:09
that happens to be one of my favorites.
0:10
And this really is the way
0:12
that I cook salmon at my house too.
0:14
I use the air fryer all the time.
0:16
In fact, air fryers are, they're ubiquitous nowadays.
0:19
I think that they make ovens
0:21
and microwaves with air fryers inside of them.
0:25
So air fryers are, they're the truth.
0:27
Okay, so I'm gonna do a salmon recipe for you today,
0:30
and it's gonna be a maple glaze salmon.
0:34
I'm gonna make a little marinate for the salmon
0:38
and stick it into the fridge for about an hour,
0:40
and then we'll retrieve it and we'll cook our salmon
0:43
and we'll make a pineapple glaze, little salsa,
0:46
excuse me, not glaze, salsa to go with it.
0:48
So let's get started.
0:51
Couple of six ounce filets.
0:54
And in a bowl here I'm gonna
0:56
combine equal parts maple syrup,
1:02
teriyaki and pineapple.
1:06
that those three flavors together are gonna be magic.
1:12
Now, to that, I'm gonna add some ginger, not equal part.
1:15
That's only one teaspoon.
1:16
And I'm also going to, right at the end,
1:20
after I combine this a little bit,
1:21
I'm gonna mash a clove of garlic and drop it in there.
1:25
Now, I'm not gonna, excuse me, I'm not gonna dice the garlic
1:30
or put it through a press because I don't want
1:31
the actual small pieces.
1:34
I just want to impart the flavor of the garlic
1:40
So I'm gonna use my good old fashioned best tool I got
1:45
and crack that thing open.
1:48
And all those wonderful garlic
1:53
will be in my marinade.
1:58
I'm not gonna pour it over the salmon.
2:00
I'm gonna put it right into a plastic bag.
2:11
And very simply add my salmon to it.
2:20
Close it up, get rid of the air that's in there,
2:27
and make sure that my marinade
2:30
touches every part of my salmon.
2:34
And oh boy, I know that this is gonna be so good.
2:37
So into the fridge for at least an hour,
2:40
maybe a little more if you'd like,
2:42
but an hour at minimum. So let's pop it in the fridge
2:44
and we'll come back and make our sauce.
2:46
My salmon is marinating in the refrigerator.
2:48
So now I'm gonna move straight to the pineapple salsa.
2:50
Okay, so the ingredients are these pineapple.
2:56
Imagine that, pineapple salsa.
3:00
The colors are fantastic.
3:08
and little jalapeno for the kick.
3:21
and also a little salt.
3:25
Bobby, where's the juice?
3:27
Well, I'm planning on this tomato
3:30
and pineapple giving me that juice.
3:36
cook this for about five minutes.
3:38
So let's go ahead and take a break
3:39
and we'll come back and see if I'm right.
3:43
We did five minutes on the stove top
3:45
for our pineapple sauce in it.
3:47
It smells, it's so fragrant
3:49
and it smells so bright.
3:51
And so just refreshing.
3:53
It's gonna be a great side for our salmon.
3:57
And now we're gonna put it in the refrigerator.
4:00
Cool for a few minutes.
4:02
Salmon has been in the refrigerator for about an hour.
4:07
The marinade that we made is,
4:10
it smells really good.
4:11
I can smell it even outside the bag.
4:20
And again, we've got these great parchment papers
4:23
that we just get right off the internet.
4:26
And I sprayed it with a little cook and spray,
4:30
just so the salmon doesn't stick.
4:37
And two beautiful filets.
4:42
Gosh, that smells so good.
4:43
So the cooking time for salmon, people are different.
4:47
Everybody likes, you know, a little something different.
4:48
If you get beautiful sashimi grade salmon,
4:53
you could eat it right now, raw, or you know,
4:58
I've got my air fryer set to 400 degrees.
5:01
I usually cook mine for anywhere from six to 10 minutes.
5:07
If I'm having guests over
5:09
that like a little brown
5:10
and a little color on the top,
5:11
I'll go hot for a few extra minutes.
5:13
About eight or nine minutes is the max
5:15
that I would cook it on,
5:16
otherwise you're sort of overcooking the salmon.
5:19
So let's go ahead and put it in the air fryer now.
5:23
I'm gonna cook it for,
5:24
I'm gonna call it seven minutes.
5:34
Nice looking salmon, look at that, hmm.
5:41
another piece for dessert, Theresa.
5:45
- [Theresa] It happens to be two of us, Bobby.
5:47
- Well that is true, but you'll never get any.
5:51
So a beautiful piece of salmon in the air fryer.
5:54
Just a great simple way to cook it.
5:56
Our salsa came out really nice looking enough.
5:59
I tasted it separately and gosh,
6:01
is it bright and just wonderful.
6:02
Nice addition to the salmon.
6:03
So if you don't want it right on top of your salmon,
6:07
put it in a little ramkin
6:08
or a little bowl on the side, whatever you like.
6:10
And a little green garlic, garnish would,
6:13
a little green garnish on top would be nice, but,
6:17
I'm gonna try it just as is.
6:19
First, I wanna try the salmon without the salsa
6:22
and see how our glaze, our marinade was.
6:33
Oh boy, is that nice?
6:35
It's nice just like that.
6:37
But let's try it with a little bit of the salsa,
6:39
chunky pineapple salsa.
6:50
What a great combination.
6:53
The brightness of the pineapple, the tomatoes,
6:56
the jalapenos showed up too.
6:57
They're right there at the end.
6:59
They got a little bit of a kick.
7:03
Just a wonderful dish and really simple.
7:05
So start off the year with some air fryer cooking.
7:08
Even if you're not a huge fan of fish,
7:12
I think that I can change your mind.
7:14
Oh boy, is this good?
7:16
So until next time, thank you.
