0:00
- Good morning y'all.
0:02
You know one of the favorite appetizers at Uncle Bubba's,
0:07
the Creek House, and the Lady & Sons,
0:11
one of the favorite things in the way of appetizers
0:14
people liked was the fried dill pickles.
0:17
And now you can go in any restaurant
0:20
and you more than likely goin' find fried dill pickles.
0:24
Now I've got some beautiful thick pickles here
0:29
that have been, you know, sliced with a design on it.
0:35
And these are just regular dill pickles.
0:37
Now I've got some buttermilk here.
0:42
I've got some of my hot sauce.
0:46
Gonna put a little drop of hot sauce in there.
0:51
I'm going to put some pepper.
0:56
And now in this bowl I have flour
1:00
that I'm going to add panko to.
1:04
And did I tell y'all I was cooking this in the air fryer?
1:08
And to me, panko is the secret
1:10
because panko gives it that crunch that I love.
1:15
So I'm gonna come over here, Eddie,
1:19
and I'm gonna turn on the air fryer and heat it up
1:22
because I wanna be hot when I put the pickles in the basket.
1:29
Alright, so in my liquid, I've got pepper,
1:33
hot sauce, a teaspoon of garlic powder.
1:43
I just wanna mix that up all good.
1:47
I'm gonna put a little salt.
1:51
Remember, dill pickles are real salty,
1:53
so I'm gonna add a little sauce to my panko
1:56
and my flour mixture.
1:59
Now panko will stick a lot better, y'all,
2:02
if you cut it with flour.
2:04
So that's what we're gonna do.
2:07
Now I'm gonna toss these
2:21
And these are those good dill pickles that have dill.
2:26
It really has a fresh dill in it
2:32
All right, so I'm gonna toss em in flour,
2:36
and then I'm gonna run 'em through the buttermilk.
2:39
- [Theresa] This is a great tailgating recipe.
2:42
- Yeah, if you got all the stuff to do it with,
2:46
- [Theresa] Because you could do 'em
2:46
and bring 'em out hot.
2:48
- Ah huh, yeah, yeah.
2:51
Alright, so now I'm tossing it in the flour
2:57
And once again, I'm tryin' to,
3:01
tryin' to use the smallest bowl I can find, you know.
3:05
All right, so see how that pinko in that flour
3:10
is sticking to those so nicely,
3:16
and by putting it in the flour first,
3:22
it helps all of that to stick.
3:30
Toss, toss, toss, toss.
3:34
And you can do all this ahead of time
3:39
and you could put these in the refrigerator
3:45
And just let 'em sit until you're ready to fry 'em,
3:50
when your family is ready for 'em.
3:53
Let's see, is that one or two pickles?
3:58
And I'll keep, because of the moisture,
4:00
I'll keep having to add more flour
4:10
So y'all can imagine how easy this would be
4:14
if you're expecting guests, to do this ahead of time.
4:18
And that's a piece of dill.
4:23
And just being able to walk to your refrigerator,
4:28
Now before we put these in the air fryer,
4:30
we're gonna wanna spray them.
4:34
And this helps them get real crispy.
4:40
And when we turn 'em, we'll spray the other side.
4:45
And don't be, don't be scared, don't be scared of this.
4:50
Our air fryer is nice and hot.
4:52
Now I'm gonna spring this
4:55
so our pickles won't stick
5:18
because if they stick
5:21
they gonna lose all their crust.
5:26
- All right, so I'm gonna set it all like 10 minutes.
5:30
Alright y'all, this is it, fried dill pickles.
5:35
I do wanna say though,
5:37
when you spray your dill pickles,
5:41
I have decided that I like spraying them
5:45
with the olive oil spray much better,
5:46
much better than the butter spray.
5:50
They seem to get crispier with this.
5:53
And you know, you can always fry these
5:57
in a little oil, so I put the regular dill pickles
6:01
that I started with here, I have homemade honey mustard,
6:06
and I have the fried dill pickles,
6:10
which I don't know how hot they are.
6:19
That crunch is that panko, y'all.
6:24
Do y'all mind if I double dip?
6:26
- [Theresa] Not at all.
6:34
- [Theresa] They're good?
6:37
You know when Eddie digs in behind the camera,
6:41
- The sweet and the honey mustard,
6:48
All right, so now I'm gonna try this.
6:50
- [Theresa] Those are some of the best
6:51
fried pickles I've had.
6:53
- [Theresa] I think it's because of coating.
6:55
- Mm, well, thank you.
7:01
I will tell y'all this,
7:02
some things cook better in an air fryer than other things,
7:09
but try it both ways.
7:11
Just follow the way I did it.
7:13
Cook it on top of your stove in a little vegetable oil
7:18
or try your air fryer.
7:19
But remember, this is the important part
7:21
when it's in the air fryer,
7:23
keep turning them and spraying them.
7:27
