- Hey, y'all, (mixer rattling)
0:01
I'm fixin' to do something that's so fun.
0:06
And I bet most of y'all have already done this
0:09
at one time in your life, (mixer rattling loudly)
0:13
but I just know how fun this is do it
0:21
with your children or your grandchildren.
0:24
We are gonna make the Easter Bunny Cake.
0:29
And we've got our little thing off
0:33
of the website that kind of show us what they've done.
0:38
And I'm just so sad, though,
0:40
that none of the grandchildren are here.
0:43
Now, I'm just gonna make regular buttercream icing,
0:49
just butter and powdered sugar.
0:51
And for the easy way,
0:55
the easy way to do it would be
0:57
to just use a already-made frosting on it.
1:02
But (mixer clattering)
1:03
this is just as easy to whip up.
1:05
So, I've got a stick of butter,
1:08
a teaspoon of vanilla flavoring,
1:13
and, maybe, almost a pound of powdered sugar.
1:18
(mixer clattering)
1:21
So, we gonna need to add a little milk to this
1:27
to get it creamy,
1:31
'cause that one stick of butter is not quite enough liquid
1:36
to make it spreadable. (mixer clattering)
1:43
So, listen, if y'all, do do me a favor, please,
1:47
if y'all at home...
1:48
Oh, thank you, Theresa. - You're welcome.
1:50
- If y'all do this at home,
1:52
would y'all please send me a picture?
1:56
I might need some more. - Okay. (laughing)
1:59
- Please send me a picture of your rabbit,
2:03
'cause I'd love to see what y'all do out there.
2:05
I bet you, y'all do some that's so over the top,
2:10
will make mine look like a first grader's done it.
2:13
- [Theresa] They should send us any Easter,
2:14
really, - I know!
2:15
creative Easter desserts that they do.
2:17
There's some great ideas out there.
2:19
- There is.
2:22
- [Theresa] I saw someone did Rice Krispie treats
2:27
and they made 'em like a basket.
2:28
And then they did - Oh!
2:29
- buttercream icing that they made green-
2:31
- No, uh-uh. - So, it looked, so,
2:33
and then they just kind of swirled it in
2:35
and then they put Cadbury,
2:36
either Cadbury Eggs or jelly beans; so cute.
2:39
- [Paula] Oh my goodness.
2:41
And where did, where did you see that?
2:43
- [Theresa] Pinterest!
2:44
- [Paula] Okay.
2:46
There is something wholesome,
2:48
stay-at-home mothers that donate a lot of their time
2:53
to doing things to make their children happy
2:57
and to introduce them to somethin' new.
3:01
(mixer clattering)
3:06
So, hopefully, you working mothers, maybe have a grandmother
3:09
that can kind of help take the load off of ya.
3:15
'Cause it is hard.
3:16
It is hard working a full-time job
3:21
and raisin' a family at the same time.
3:24
It's very, very hard.
3:27
(mixer whirring and clattering)
3:29
And I, you know, I've always said,
3:34
I've always said
3:37
the more people that love your children,
3:39
the better they will be for it.
3:44
It, it-
3:45
- [Theresa] You can't have too many people
3:46
in your life that love you. - No, you cannot.
3:51
It's just the way it is. (mixer whirring)
3:53
So, y'all, please, please, please send me some things
3:56
that you do because I think y'all are so smart out there
4:00
and y'all got so many wonderful ideas
4:02
and I wish you'd share 'em with me.
4:08
Because I would love to see what y'all are doing.
4:10
All right, so I've got my buttercream
4:12
and it's just nothin' but butter.
4:16
I did put a little orange flavoring,
4:19
along with some vanilla flavoring,
4:22
but it's just two sticks of butter,
4:24
about a pound of powdered sugar,
4:29
and your extracts, whatever you wanna do.
4:32
All right, so, I went ahead and cut...
4:36
I wanna show you.
4:38
Here, I'll put that up there so you can see.
4:41
Now, I went ahead and cut out one ear.
4:45
And to get your ears,
4:48
you come in like so
4:54
and go like that.
5:00
So, he's got a kind of a curve to him.
5:05
All right, so there's his ears.
5:11
I'll move him down a little bit.
5:15
There's his ears and his face.
5:20
And this is his bow tie.
5:26
Now, how cute is that? (giggling)
5:31
I think this could be,
5:34
I think, though,
5:35
this could have a little bit more curve to it.
5:39
What you think, Eddie?
5:43
- [Eddie] Yeah, it fits right underneath the cake,
5:48
though, pretty good.
5:49
- [Paula] And guess what we get to do? (chuckling)
5:51
- [Eddie] Sample.
5:54
- [Paula] You get to eat some bunny bow tie.
6:10
What you think?
6:13
- [Eddie] Looks good.
6:14
- Does that look like the picture?
6:15
It does, it does.
6:16
Now, they have covered their bunny in coconut.
6:22
And we have some coconut that's been tinted blue
6:28
and coconut that we've tinted red.
6:31
All you have to do is just put a few drops
6:32
of the color that you're trying to get
6:36
and stir those together.
6:38
And I bought these little eyes the other day,
6:41
when I was shopping, I saw 'em and I thought, "You know,
6:43
we may be needing something like that for Easter."
6:47
So, first thing we got to do is frost our bunny.
6:57
So, I'm gonna need my knife.
7:02
(cutlery clattering)
7:11
And I'm gonna start frostin' him.
7:16
It may take me a minute, but we'll see,
7:24
Okay, y'all I'm having
7:26
(dishes clattering) to put my coconut,
7:30
I have to go ahead and put my coconut on the buttercream
7:33
that I've got iced
7:36
because the frosting will harden
7:42
and then I won't be able to get it to stick.
7:44
So, I feel like I'm kind of goin' ahead
7:48
of myself a little bit,
7:49
but that's the way it's workin' out.
7:55
All right, now, I bought some of these
7:59
and I just thought those were pretty and Eastery looking.
8:04
So, I'm just gonna put some of those in there
8:06
and see if they'll stick
8:11
on top of that coconut.
8:15
I just like it.
8:15
I thought it was all pastel colors and just pretty.
8:20
Doesn't show up so good, though.
8:23
All right, now, I need somethin' for his buttons.
8:32
What should I use for his buttons?
8:37
Let's see if I-
8:38
- [Eddie] We've got the yellow gum drops.
8:41
- [Theresa] Or jelly beans.
8:44
- Yeah, Dots, we could do Dots with jelly beans; let's see.
8:51
- [Theresa] The Dots are pretty pronounced.
8:53
- [Paula] They are. (candy clattering)
8:54
Let's see. - There's some yellow ones.
8:56
- [Paula] Oh, they, I think the yellow would show up good.
8:59
Don't you? - Mm hmm.
9:01
Good idea, Eddie. - Mm hmm.
9:11
- Cute; (laughing) I wish y'all were here!
9:17
Cute, cute.
9:18
You know, something like this, it's funny.
9:21
Something like this, I just, I get nervous, you know?
9:26
(giggles) Isn't that funny?
9:28
I just, not nervous, but 'cause, you know,
9:31
I want it to be perfect.
9:34
- [Theresa] Imagine that!
9:35
- So, I'm going to frost his ears in my hand
9:42
because I think it would just be easier
9:45
than trying to do it over here.
9:49
And I was just telling Theresa,
9:52
you know, when you got your cut edges of cake,
9:55
when you have to cut into 'em,
9:57
it, you wind up with a lot of crumbs
10:01
that are wanting to go everywhere.
10:06
But that's where the coconut comes in good, 'cause it...
10:14
- Yeah, I admire those people - Covers it up.
10:15
out there that really know how to decorate cakes-
10:18
- I'm telling you what. - Because it's an art.
10:21
- Okay, I've got everything frosted
10:24
except for the other ear.
10:26
And so, it worked out so good,
10:32
me pickin' that up and holdin' it
10:37
while I frosted it.
10:38
So, I'm gonna do the same thing.
10:42
So, I just want to clean that off a little bit
10:44
so I can attach that ear.
10:49
And then, we'll be ready for eyes,
10:57
and nose,
11:00
and a little mouth. (loud clattering off camera)
11:07
What Theresa?
11:07
- [Theresa] I said, "Sorry," I had a lot to move.
11:09
- That's all right, 'cause I'm not making any...
11:13
Theresa said, "You look so serious, Paula."
11:17
I said, "I am!"
11:18
Very intense when I'm,
11:22
when I'm painting, or when I'm doing shelling,
11:27
anything like that, I'm just very, very intense.
11:34
'Cause, I think, what that means is, maybe I'm outta my,
11:39
outta my comfort zone, right? (chuckling)
11:42
- [Theresa] Or you're a perfectionist.
11:43
- Well, I do like for that to be perfect.
11:49
And you know perfection is not possible.
11:54
But it don't mean we can't try to get there.
12:02
Okay, very gently,
12:10
I wanna roll that around.
12:19
Make sure I've got everything covered
12:24
because I want the coconut to be able to stick to him.
12:31
And if I don't have icing on it, it won't.
12:38
And this doesn't have to be slap-kadab perfect
12:41
because it's gonna be covered with our coconut.
12:47
Okay, so, I'm gonna go ahead (knife clattering)
12:52
while I'm holding him,
12:55
and put my coconut on him.
13:00
Like I said, I think that'll just make it easier.
13:03
Of course, I laid that one right there to frost it.
13:17
He's lookin' good!
13:24
All right, now, let's see which way I want his ear to go.
13:28
I think I want it to go here.
13:37
I love it! (laughing)
13:40
What you think, Eddie? - It looks good.
13:43
I love the tie. (water gurgling)
13:45
- [Paula] You love what?
13:46
- [Eddie] The bow tie.
13:46
- Oh good! (paper towel ripping)
13:53
Okay, now, for his little ear.
13:58
'Cause you know bunnies have pink ears,
14:08
inside, I don't know what kind of pink.
14:22
I'll be touching this bunny 'till tomorrow,
14:26
you know, makin' him perfect.
14:36
Tryin' to get him slap-kadab perfect.
14:39
- [Theresa] I don't think everybody's gonna stay here
14:41
with you until tomorrow.
14:42
- [Paula] (chuckling) Oh, I don't need anybody.
14:45
(Theresa laughing) - I'll be happy
14:47
and content right by myself (laughing) seeking perfection.
14:54
All right.
14:56
Now, let's do something about his eyes.
15:00
So, I decided
15:06
that, I think, I'm going to use a Dot
15:10
(knife clattering) for the big part of his eye.
15:16
And I like these little eyeballs that I bought.
15:23
And, let's see, a rabbit's eyes are kind of close together.
15:27
Aren't they?
15:32
Okay, so I put a little, little icing on the Dot,
15:40
whoops, so he would stick,
15:50
so, he would stick to that Dot.
16:07
About right there?
16:11
Is that what you thinking, Eddie?
16:13
- [Eddie] Yep.
16:15
- [Paula] Theresa?
16:17
- [Theresa] Lookin' good!
16:20
- Okay, now, we have to talk about...
16:28

16:31

16:36
Mr. Bunny?
16:42

16:53
That's all right if they're crooked.
16:59
All right, now, what are we gonna do for his mouth?
17:10
I think I would like to do this.
17:24
This is gonna be a girl bunny
17:35
that doesn't know how to put on lipstick.
17:37
She's very young (chuckling)
17:40
