hey y'all welcome to my kitchen today
0:04
you see who's got the best seats in the
0:07
house if you want a good seat there's a
0:10
chance you gonna have to move a dog or a
0:12
cat but there's there's another cat in
0:16
here that's got a good seat and that's
0:18
my ain't paint he's sitting over there
0:19
she's here in here to keep me straight
0:23
she is actually reading an article that
0:29
showed up in the paper talking about
0:31
Albany at my hometown and ain't Peggy's
0:34
hometown where she lives
0:36
has been hit it's like number one in the
0:40
US for the crime coronavirus so I'm very
0:46
very thankful that she's sitting here
0:48
out of the line of fire so and I hope
0:53
and pray that all of our Albania and
0:56
friends will be safe
0:58
I hope they only y'all out there a safe
1:01
if you're like me you might be getting a
1:04
little touch of cabin fever
1:06
but you know we just have to think about
1:10
this as a time to catch up on things
1:12
we've been wanting to do or a time to
1:16
just be lazy and I'm good at that one
1:19
I'm real good being lazy and sitting on
1:23
myself and watching TV but I just wanted
1:26
to come in and hopefully occupy y'all's
1:29
time for a few minutes maybe just take
1:31
your mind off of things and if you're
1:36
isolated by yourself you know I'm so
1:39
sorry so I hope this will be a little
1:41
bit of a diversion but I've been trying
1:44
to concentrate on recipes that are super
1:47
super easy and hopefully things that you
1:50
have in your kitchen that you don't have
1:53
to go to the store for because where we
1:56
go to the store every day that that is
1:59
no longer the case we have at one point
2:04
even ordered our groceries but in order
2:07
to do that you got to be real organized
2:09
because it took us
2:11
like 36 hours to get our delivery have
2:14
you done that Teresa no uh-huh
2:16
where you order your food and they bring
2:18
it to you I do that with one of our
2:20
local produce oh okay great I want to
2:24
hear all about that
2:25
it's Bette Davis yeah Davis no juicy
2:29
sister says um and well they just bring
2:32
you do they bring you a basket and you
2:35
don't know what's in it or actually well
2:41
we know how to check that out so Davis
2:44
produce is is some dear friends of ours
2:49
here in Savannah and their little stand
2:52
is located on highway 80 on the way to
2:56
Toby and they're just the sweetest
3:01
sweetest people and fabulous and
3:04
fabulous produce I don't I don't know
3:08
how they do it I know they worked like
3:11
dogs they they work like dogs but anyway
3:17
back to easy recipes I don't know if
3:20
y'all have ever had a great salad I was
3:22
asking me Peggy if she'd ever met
3:24
morning I think we decided that she has
3:26
never had one so this is so good y'all
3:31
and it's one of those recipes where we
3:35
kind of use what I've got I'm gonna
3:40
start with a softened 8 ounce package of
3:43
cream cheese 1 cup of sour cream
4:01
how much sugar is that I might not use
4:05
is that like a half okay I'm gonna
4:10
probably use only half of that because
4:13
this recipe that they printed out for me
4:16
right here I don't think it's my recipe
4:19
it may be I don't know I doubt it though
4:23
but anyway I'm gonna mix this and I
4:31
thought I put mayonnaise I think I think
4:39
I think you add a half minute sour cream
4:44
I've seen you do it
4:49
I'm guilty because that's what I love
4:53
about cooking you know don't fence us in
4:56
don't put baby in a corner you know give
4:59
us plenty of dancing room you know you
5:18
do what you want to that's what I say
5:21
so I'm gonna add a little mayonnaise and
5:25
then I'm gonna stick my finger in this
5:27
instead and
5:30
if I need answer more shoots maybe a
5:39
little bit there's so many ways I don't
5:58
like this phrase but skin a cat I got a
6:00
cat I don't want to think about somebody
6:02
into my gas but so we've got that mixed
6:11
up now I add grapes naturally it's a
6:17
grape salad and if I've got pineapple
6:20
tidbits you know can't fine Apple
6:22
tidbits or or cubed or heck even the
6:26
circles because I can count I can cut
6:28
those up I love pineapple in this but I
6:32
don't have any pineapples so today I'm
6:35
using one of my favorite apples and it's
6:38
a Pink Lady Apple and the apples are
6:42
just delicious
6:43
now I soaked these in water mixed with
6:47
fresh fruit for a few minutes so my
6:50
apples won't turn brown so I'm just
6:53
gonna put how many grapes I won't
7:01
because remember this didn't call for
7:04
apples so that's gonna take the place of
7:09
some of the grapes and then I'm just
7:12
gonna start
7:16
mixing and mixing and mixing until I've
7:21
got the right amount of grapes with a
7:23
right amount of witness all right I'm
7:29
gonna head like a cup of cheese I think
7:34
that I'm gonna add handful of grapes
7:39
this recipe certainly picked awful
7:41
grapes either but raisins raisins stop
7:45
man thank y'all for keeping this old
7:48
girl straight Oh maraschino cherries
7:52
I love these to make sure they're good
7:56
and drained and before you put your
7:59
maraschino cherries in I cut mine in
8:03
half and you'll make sure you want to
8:05
run them under water and rinse them
8:06
because that red dime from those
8:09
cherries will turn everything pink and I
8:13
don't want it to be pink I want it to be
8:15
white with spots of red in it
8:21
and now the last thing I'm gonna add
8:27
oh this looks so good
8:34
you know I think the hardest thing about
8:36
writing a cookbook y'all was actually
8:39
formulating everything because when you
8:42
cook just off the cuff it is so hard to
8:47
make that recipe and formulate it just
8:52
right because you're used to going like
8:55
the Essen like that and it's hard it's
9:00
hard you know what I might have to use
9:03
all those grapes alright now one of my
9:05
favorite ingredients in this yeah Oh see
9:12
I need to cut down on my wit I love this
9:17
part y'all Matt's nuts
9:19
pecan yes you're so good and crunchy in
9:24
it and if you'd have time to roast them
9:27
they would be even better to pull that
9:30
flavor from those nuts Lee yeah the
9:37
proportion was just right all right let
9:41
me see is that everything I want meaning
9:45
every time I have um out-of-town company
9:48
especially from up north I always serve
9:55
this salad tomb at lunchtime and they
9:58
love it they just love it so ain't Peggy
10:03
I'm just gonna put but you abide in the
10:07
cherry Bowl and I want you to taste it
10:12
uh-oh the last thing you have to do you
10:18
have no ma'am you have to sprinkle it
10:20
with brown sugar and then
10:22
refrigerator and that brown sugar melt
10:26
through all those grapes and apples and
10:29
oh my granny's it's so good
10:33
all right Teresa ain't that the strength
10:37
honey to hold and power one maybe I can
10:45
I don't have the strength that I used to
10:48
hang out you know but I was just
10:49
watching an Oprah show talking about
10:53
that doing those aerobics oh I just
11:00
don't want to don't want to but I should
11:05
have a strength that I used to have I
11:09
mean when we were running the bag lady I
11:13
delivered all the catering as long as I
11:17
couldn't then Jamie had to take over but
11:22
I'd haul those big old things of food up
11:25
thirty stairs and I don't know Heidi I
11:29
said what are they gonna find me
11:31
collapsed Oh instead of steps over at
11:35
Memorial Hospital all right so what's
11:40
the verdict on TV it's very very oh I'm
11:43
so glad I just love it
11:52
weights are just great and you have not
11:55
wanted to kick it up another notch I
12:02
know you love Apple savvy that's one
12:05
reason I'm going to put the apples in
12:07
because she I know she loves apples all
12:12
right so that's it okay so tip is to
12:15
refrigerate it for her though oh yeah
12:18
you can you can make it one day and
12:20
refrigerate it and serve it the next day
12:23
but it does do real well when it has
12:27
time to see it and I'm probably gonna
12:29
add the rest of these grapes cuz it's a
12:31
lot of weird in there to go imagine you
12:35
wrote that recipe turns out to be
12:37
correct that's great
12:40
that's a bonus I'll see y'all next time
12:46
stay safe stay well stay sane here's the
12:53
