- Hey everybody.
0:00
It's Bobby here dropping in, on mom's channel.
0:03
Happy New Year, hope everybody had great holidays.
0:07
Today, I've got a great biscuit recipe for you today.
0:10
I think that it's great.
0:11
Somebody, actually, submitted it.
0:13
Someone named Chris submitted us,
0:15
Butter Swim Biscuits.
0:19
I'm not sure what they mean about Butter Swim Biscuits,
0:21
but I think I have an idea.
0:23
So, let's move forward and see how they are.
0:26
To me, it looks like, a kind of,
0:27
a straightforward biscuit recipe.
0:30
We're gonna mix together all of our dry ingredients.
0:33
So, I've got two and a half cups of all purpose flour.
0:39
We got salt, which is two teaspoons of salt,
0:44
four teaspoons of sugar
0:48
and our baking powder, which is four teaspoons as well.
0:54
And I'm just gonna, kind of, mix them together.
1:00
And then to that, we'll add buttermilk.
1:02
I love buttermilk in a biscuit.
1:04
It just makes them so fluffy and flaky,
1:08
and it just gives them a wonderful taste.
1:12
And there's a secret ingredient here.
1:14
You might guess by the name, Butter Swim Biscuits.
1:18
Butter, it's gonna be a star in this recipe.
1:21
Right, so all the dry ingredients are mixed together,
1:24
and we will add our buttermilk,
1:26
two cups of buttermilk.
1:34
Voila!
1:37
And we will, just, combine these together
1:40
until we've got a nice moist dough.
1:48
Looks a lot like a wallpaper paste.
1:52
(Bobby laughing)
1:54
- [Woman] It does. It's kinda hard at times.
1:56
- Yeah.
1:57
Thickens, it thickens up quick.
2:00
- [Woman] It does thickens up quick.
2:01
All I can remember is jelly roll,
2:03
every morning in The Lady & Sons,
2:05
starting that biscuit mix.
2:07
- Yup.
2:08
You know, making biscuits is, is a,
2:10
it's an art, man.
2:11
You either can do it or you can not do it.
2:14
(Bobby laughs)
2:15
- [Woman] Its hard, I cannot.
2:17
- There's nothing like a good biscuit, especially.
2:19
- [Woman] That's why I like that easy recipe.
2:20
It seems like a really easy recipe.
2:22
- Yeah.
2:24
Agree.
2:25
- [Woman] Everyone will do and like.
2:27
- It's a simple recipe.
2:28
It's one, two, three, four, five ingredients and the butter.
2:31
Not a lot to it.
2:33
Certainly not complicated.
2:35
I'd like to know the story behind Chris.
2:37
I don't know who Chris is.
2:40
- [Woman] He didn't write a whole lot.
2:41
- No, not a lot of.
2:42
- [Woman] But they just talk about a,
2:43
at the very bottom of the email,
2:44
how good they are for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
2:47
- Yeah, that's right, it does.
2:48
At the bottom it says, 'after all the, the,
2:51
the pomp and circumstance, enjoy
2:54
for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
2:57
These biscuits are the perfect companion to any meal.
2:59
I prefer to eat them with raspberry jam'.
3:02
Says Chris.
3:04
Chris, I like your style.
3:06
I also like raspberry jam.
3:08
Okay. So everything is combined here.
3:10
We've got a, this is what biscuit dough
3:13
should look like, to me.
3:16
Looks real good.
3:18
And we've got an eight by eight pan here.
3:21
You might notice that I have not greased it.
3:23
I've not sprayed it.
3:24
And that is because, (giggles)
3:28
maybe, this is what Chris meant by butter swim.
3:32
These things are gonna be swimming in butter
3:35
because that is one stick of melted butter into our pan.
3:43
I predict, I predict - I like, I like
3:45
- I predict greatness.
3:46
- [Woman] I like Chris, already.
3:47
I like Chris, too.
3:48
I predict greatness.
3:49
You could add some stuff to these biscuits, too,
3:51
if you want it to.
3:53
Let your imagination run.
3:55
So, there's our stick of melted butter.
3:58
It's still warm.
4:01
And I'm just gonna add,
4:02
to that, our biscuit dough.
4:09
Do it away from me so y'all can see it.
4:16
Awkward.
4:19
Oh boy, that's a lot of butter.
4:22
(Bobby laughs)
4:25
Alright.
4:25
- [Woman] Like you said, has to swim.
4:26
- Swim in butter, swim.
4:28
Okay. Enough of at you, I got to do it at me now.
4:32
To get every drop of the biscuit.
4:40
Yeah, they are swimming in butter for sure.
4:42
All right. So while I'm getting all of the butter mix
4:47
the biscuit mix out of this bowl,
4:49
why don't we take a short break
4:50
and when we'll come back, um,
4:53
we'll finish him up.
4:55
Welcome back everybody.
4:56
I figured out why their name, Butter Swim Biscuits.
4:59
If you take a look,
5:00
they are, absolutely, swimming in butter.
5:03
And I, I like to go by directions,
5:08
especially when I'm using somebody else's recipe.
5:10
And this recipe says to cut the uncooked dough.
5:15
So that's what I'm gonna do.
5:16
I don't know how this is gonna to play out,
5:19
but it says cut the uncooked dough
5:21
into a, nine, roughly nine pieces.
5:27
I think I'm gonna get a couple more cuts than that.
5:32
This will be interesting.
5:33
And I've got my oven preheating at 450°F.
5:40
So, let's pop it in the oven.
5:42
- [Woman] How many minutes, Bobby? Does it say to cook?
5:45
- A hundred? (giggles)
5:47
I don't know how many minutes.
5:49
20 to 25, probably.
5:51
20 to 25 minutes.
5:53
Thank you, Theresa.
5:53
So, 20 to 25 minutes at a 450 degree oven
5:56
and we'll see you when they come out.
6:00
Wow. These biscuits just came out of the oven
6:02
and they look fantastic.
6:05
Thank you, Chris.
6:06
Oof!
6:07
I'm gonna let them cool and then we'll cut them.
6:10
Okay. Our biscuits are out of the oven
6:12
and boy, they look and smell delicious.
6:15
There is something about buttermilk (laughs)
6:18
and butter that, golly, it just smells so good.
6:23
But I wish that you could smell, right now,
6:25
what these biscuits are putting off.
6:27
Chris, I think your recipe is probably a home run.
6:31
And now, sort of, going back in time here,
6:34
the recipe said to cut the uncooked dough, which I did.
6:40
And I don't know if you can tell,
6:41
that I raked the, you know,
6:43
the, the, the blade through there,
6:45
but I did cut it uncooked and,
6:48
(Bobby mumbles)
6:49
- [Eddie] It gives you a little scene there.
6:50
- It gives you, yeah,
6:51
it does give you a little scene
6:52
and you can tell that it happened,
6:53
but I'm still going to, to cut them again.
6:56
They are warm, they smell succulent.
7:02
And I think that this is going to be a wonderful recipe.
7:08
So, um, but before I start giving you kudos,
7:13
gotta taste them.
7:15
But they are making my mouth wet.
7:17
They've succeeded in that.
7:19
My mouth is watering.
7:23
And Chris said that, Chris likes these biscuits
7:29
with raspberry preserves or jam.
7:34
And today, I am going to use a blackberry preserve.
7:40
And these are from Paula Deen Store, The Lady & Sons.
7:45
This is a delicious blackberry jam.
7:48
See the, how these lift out here.
7:52
Chris, with that much butter, they should pop right out.
7:59
Oh, come on man. Don't tear up on me.
8:02
Maybe I just need to go ahead and get two or three.
8:05
Oof. Look at that.
8:08
Oh boy. Oh boy.
8:13
Oh, (laughing)
8:16
- [Eddie] Oh that's almost, almost like bread.
8:18
- It, yeah. Well, yeah.
8:20
Eddie, that's a good call.
8:21
You are a, Eddie is a bread baker.
8:24
Oh my gosh.
8:26
These things.
8:30
It is almost like bread.
8:31
It's almost like a cakey. Gosh!
8:35
Oh, it smells so.
8:38
The scent is, um,
8:40
the aroma is,
8:44
it is a savory.
8:48
It's not a, it's, it's, it's not sweet, obviously.
8:51
It's not a sweet smell, but golly,
8:53
it just smells so good.
8:56
Let's taste these things.
8:59
I'm just gonna slice one and a half, here.
9:02
Oof!
9:04
Open it up.
9:08
Put a little better.
9:12
Hey baby, yes.
9:19
That's too low.
9:23
(both giggling)
9:25
That's too little, too.
9:26
Come on now.
9:29
Oh my gosh.
9:31
Does that look good? Or what?
9:33
And Chris said, enjoy for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
9:37
This is none of the above, but I will enjoy.
9:41
Gosh, that's like a sandwich.
9:43
Look at that.
9:45
Look at that, look at the bottom.
9:48
Butter.
9:50
Oh my gosh, so much butter.
9:52
So much buttery goodness.
9:59
Hmm.
10:02
Wow.
10:05
Okay.
10:09
Wow, Chris.
10:12
That is a delicious biscuit.
10:16
Absolutely fantastic.
10:17
That's a home run recipe.
10:20
Thank you, Chris.
10:21
Thanks for watching.
10:22
I recommend that everybody try these right away.
