0:02
this recipe that I'm sharing with y'all on this video is...
0:07
I think it's gonna be aired probably on Easter Sunday.
0:11
So, it will probably be a little late
0:13
for you to make this for your meal,
0:15
but if you're like our family
0:19
we always have ham for Easter, always.
0:23
Whether it's fresh or cured,
0:26
it's gonna be pork in some fashion.
0:29
So, this is a great recipe
0:33
to take some of that ham that you had left over.
0:37
And this is a hash brown quiche.
0:40
Now, it's not like the hash brown casserole
0:43
like so many of us know and love.
0:46
This is gonna be a quiche.
0:48
And that's my pie plate.
0:52
I don't have to tell you to do I, where my pie plates are?
0:58
They're in storage, that's right, they're in storage.
1:05
I started three cups of thawed,
1:08
and I tell y'all to make sure
1:11
you get all the water out of it.
1:14
In fact it's a great idea to take some paper towels
1:22
because we want this to get real crisp.
1:26
And it was it will be hard to get it that way
1:29
if there's a lot of water in it.
1:38
Those look like bugs, don't they? (laughs)
1:42
They're little brown pieces of potato
1:43
that got left on there,
1:46
but it does look like a bug.
1:49
Alright. Now how much water I'm getting out of that?
2:07
See, I mean there was still a lot, a lot of water
2:11
because we're using frozen hash browns.
2:15
So, if they're frozen you know they're gon' have
2:20
a good bit of water in them.
2:22
So we wanna make sure that water gets gone.
2:26
And I've got four tablespoons of melted butter.
2:37
And then I'm then gonna use some House seasoning,
2:43
And that's gonna give me all my seasonings.
2:45
To my salt, pepper, and my garlic.
2:48
And I'm just gonna toss
2:51
our shredded hash browns in with that butter.
2:58
And I gave my pie plate, (chuckles),
3:02
I you use that term very, very loosely.
3:07
I'm gonna press our hash browns into our plate.
3:15
And you don't have to kill them,
3:17
but you just kinda wanna press it down.
3:19
And I would really love for this to go up
3:25
the sides a little bit
3:26
like you would think of a pie crust.
3:47
This is gon' be so good.
3:53
You can serve this for breakfast, or brunch,
3:58
or as a dinner meal along with a salad,
4:03
and you'd have a great meal.
4:07
We've got our hash browns put in there pretty good.
4:12
Wait, I look over here and I wanna make sure
4:17
I get them padded down really, really good.
4:25
So these potatoes are gon' get nice and brown,
4:36
I'm gonna put this in the oven at 450 degrees,
4:40
and I'm gonna bake it for about 20 minutes.
4:44
And then I'm gonna take it out,
4:48
and I'm going to mix together the ingredients
4:50
for the quiche part of our recipe.
4:57
Now the first part of our quiche is done.
5:01
You can see where the hash brown started turning
5:06
lightly golden brown.
5:08
So now we're gon' put the insides together.
5:11
And that's three eggs beaten.
5:19
I can beat them a little bit better in this big bowl.
5:24
And one cup of half-and-half.
5:37
Half a cup of green onions.
5:43
See how much ham did we call for three-fourths a cup
5:50
And if you didn't have ham for Easter,
5:53
(clears throat), excuse me.
5:54
If you didn't have on the Easter,
5:55
and don't have any leftover ham,
5:57
at the grocery store you can find this cubed ham.
6:02
It comes in little cubes and bigger cubes.
6:04
So, if want that ham quiche
6:11
that's a good way to get just plain out old ham.
6:16
And I sure would like some more ham than that.
6:20
Alright. Let's see now.
6:22
I'm gonna add the cheese.
6:30
So, I'll put all that cheese in,
6:38
and put some more cheese on top.
6:42
Get out there you little piece of ham.
6:52
So now we're just going to pour this
7:05
And we're just gon' have to imagine
7:07
this being in a pie shell.
7:13
Okay. So you wanna make sure you spread that out evenly.
7:18
So when you cut it, everybody will get
7:23
your share of ham, and cheese, and onions.
7:27
Okay. So in the oven, this goes 350,
7:31
we lowered our oven temp' to 350,
7:34
and we're gon' bake it for 30 more minutes.
7:37
So don't y'all think this is a great way to use that ham
7:42
that you've got left over.
7:45
Pan's still just a wee bit hot.
7:51
It's more than wee bit hot.
7:59
Look at this pretty quiche.
8:00
Now you just have to imagine it being in a pie dish.
8:12
- [Eddie] It's so color full.
8:17
This is one of those dishes, Eddie that you can...
8:24
I wanna make sure I get some that tartare.
8:41
See that crust, our potato crust.
8:48
Eddie, you know I love some potatoes.
8:56
About lost a tartare.
9:04
Ah, I was about to loose it.
9:08
Well a pig is a pig. (chuckles)
9:10
Now, if I was plating and serving this,
9:16
I would top it with a dollar more of sour cream.
9:20
You know, maybe sprinkle some more green onions on top,
9:23
and it's a beautiful, beautiful dish.
9:27
And you got your starch, you got your veggies,
9:29
you got your protein,
9:32
you know, with the eggs, and the meat,
9:34
it's a delicious quiche.
9:37
And I think that real men do eat quiche.
9:50
So, you know I'm trying very hard to send y'all all the love
9:56
and best dishes that I can.
9:57
Oh, (laughs), I'm spitting it out, Eddie.
10:05
Love y'all. (chuckles)
