0:00
- Hi y'all, I've got one more little recipe to share
0:04
with y'all that is really celebrates Halloween
0:09
and I'm going to make some ghost.
0:14
And I've started by melting 1/2 a stick of butter
0:20
and when that melts, I'm gonna, and Oh gosh, 10 ounces.
0:26
This about 10 ounces.
0:29
it started at 16, but now it's probably around 10,
0:33
maybe taking just a few more out.
0:37
That should be about 10 ounces.
0:40
And we're just going to stir that together
0:43
until we melt those marshmallows.
0:46
And let's see what else we're gonna do.
0:49
We're gonna add vanilla flavoring.
0:52
And these are really like our Rice Krispie treats y'all
0:57
but the only thing we're gonna do different is,
1:01
since it's Halloween,
1:04
we have some coarsely chopped candy corns
1:08
and we're going to stir that into our Rice Krispie treats.
1:13
So let's step back here.
1:18
Let's see how that butter's going.
1:23
And it's melting on down.
1:25
So I'm going to go ahead and pour our marshmallows.
1:29
And I would really recommend,
1:33
when you're melting your marshmallows,
1:35
to go in and get the little bitty ones
1:38
cause they'll melt a lot faster and easier.
1:43
So this one of those things that you're gonna wanna,
1:49
you gonna wanna keep a close eye on
1:52
and stir, stir, stir.
2:00
I'll never forget Bobby dressing up like me for Halloween.
2:04
And he said, mix, mix, mix.
2:09
All right y'all, our marshmallows are almost melted.
2:13
So I just added a fourth of a teaspoon of salt.
2:21
And then I'm gonna add a teaspoon of vanilla.
2:25
As soon as these marshmallows get
2:29
down a little bit more meltidy.
2:32
Doesn't that look wonderful?
2:35
It reminds me of divinity.
2:41
Put some coconut on that
2:47
and it would look like snowflakes.
2:50
In fact, I think in the end,
2:53
I think I'm gonna put some coconut
3:03
I made this recipe years and years ago
3:08
when I was shooting up
3:09
in Millbrook, New York at Gordon Elliot's house.
3:12
And when we got through,
3:14
we had all of our little ghost standing up.
3:17
a red food coloring does not come off of your skin y'all.
3:23
And I just thought they were the cutest,
3:27
cutest little things.
3:29
(spoon scrapping pot)
3:35
Okay. We've about got it.
3:41
(spoon scrapping pot)
3:43
It's close enough for government work.
3:45
(spoon scrapping pot)
3:50
So we can bring this over here
3:53
and I got a hundred thousand recipes running around
4:01
All right on to okay,
4:03
remove from heat and fold in the cereal and candy corns.
4:07
And I'm putting in six, six cups of, you know,
4:12
that Snap, Crackle and Pop.
4:17
And these are our coarsely chopped candy corns.
4:28
They've gotten gooey.
4:34
We're not leaving one of y'all behind.
4:39
Alright. I'm going to stir that all together.
4:42
And I've got some ghost cookie cutters.
4:49
And it has probably been 14 or 15 years
4:57
since I shot that show.
5:00
And I was thinking that we did our little ghost per hand.
5:06
I don't recall us using cookie cutters.
5:11
But so I might wind up spraying
5:15
these out on our cookie sheet
5:18
and try to do it with a cookie cutter.
5:26
It would be less messy for sure.
5:36
That looks pretty good.
5:41
I just love Krispie, Krispie, Krispie treats.
6:01
So I'm just going to pour this out
6:03
on a grease cookie sheet.
6:10
I should have used a big one.
6:13
I didn't realize it was going to make that look so,
6:18
I'm gonna reach in here and grab a little bigger one
6:22
cause I don't, thank you Eddie,
6:24
because I don't want them necessarily that thick.
6:34
Oh, and I forgot to tell you.
6:36
If you do touch these,
6:39
make sure you spray your hands.
6:44
And you have to do this fairly quickly y'all
6:46
cause it, soon as you take it off the heat,
6:55
it starts cooling down very, very fast.
7:01
Oh, look, that looks like spider webs, doesn't it?
7:04
(Paula and Eddie laughing)
7:08
I forgot to spray the other hand.
7:10
(Paula and woman laughing)
7:13
You know, I don't know about y'all
7:17
but it's actually getting late in the day.
7:21
And my, I think my brain slows down after,
7:37
I think I'm going to go like that for 'em.
7:47
All right. I'm going to see,
7:51
just like I said, I can't remember if we did these by hand,
7:58
or used a cookie cutter.
8:00
I just can't remember.
8:12
(Paula spraying hand)
8:21
that we used a cookie cutter,
8:23
(Eddie and Paula laughing)
8:28
but I do wanna make sure.
8:33
Just tell you, I'll make sure
8:34
that you spray your cookie cutter
8:41
so that the the ghost won't stick to your cutters.
8:49
Okay. I'm trying to pack this down as hard as I can.
8:53
(Paula patting down the mix)
9:00
Cause I don't want it to be loosey goosey.
9:06
I want him to be whole.
9:17
Okay so I'm just bringing those edges up.
9:24
(Paula patting down the mix)
9:33
And after these cool for a while,
9:40
go melt some white chocolate y'all,
9:42
and frost the ghost in the white chocolate.
9:48
And then we're going to sprinkle a little coconut,
9:50
shred a coconut on them
9:52
so they look real spooky.
9:56
So, let's stick this in the fridge
10:00
and wave our magic wand Eddie.
10:06
we mixed up the ingredients to make our ghost
10:11
and we had to put it in the refrigerator
10:13
and let it get hard.
10:16
And then look at our little ghost,
10:18
how cute are th, these glasses are too big.
10:22
So I just want to show you what we did.
10:24
We had our little ghost cookie cutter.
10:32
And we just beared down real hard
10:37
And look how this works out.
10:42
I can legally eat the edges.
10:44
- [Eddie] There's extra.
10:46
- [Paula] So that's how you do it. He's uh oh!
10:52
- This ghost is very tired.
10:57
Okay. And we just have to push him out.
11:01
I meant to spray this cookie cutter and I forgot.
11:07
Oh, another one bites the dust.
11:11
So you have to, you have to mold these ghost,
11:18
like mold their bottoms,
11:23
so it's perfectly even for them to stand on.
11:37
Eddie, to race you on a bike is so good.
11:46
Alright. Oh, his arm fell off.
11:48
- [Woman Speaking] Uh oh!
11:51
- Hey, what mixed together real good.
11:56
After I finish with him, I'll eat him first.
12:02
We still got another step now,
12:04
to make our ghost really ghost looking.
12:08
So I've got white chocolate chips
12:13
and I'm going to melt them in the microwave
12:17
and you want to be real careful,
12:19
like, don't set it for two or three minutes and walk off.
12:22
I'm going to set this about 30 seconds.
12:30
It may not have gone up,
12:31
stir it at every turn.
12:36
Every 30 seconds, I will stir our white chocolate chips.
12:41
Okay. So we got our white chocolate chips, melted,
12:48
so now I'm just, icing our little ghost,
12:56
and you could ice both sides if you wanted to,
13:00
but I think one side is plenty
13:05
and then we're going to dip them down in the,
13:15
Alright, now we've got one more thing to do.
13:18
We've got to make the ghost eyes,
13:33
and then we got to give him a nice big smile.
13:42
The smile is so big it ran into his eye.
13:53
- [Eddie] That's great.
13:58
So get in the kitchen and help your mommy make these ghosts.
14:03
And not only are they cute and fun to make,
14:08
(munches ghost cookie)
14:09
they're delicious to eat.
