0:00
- Hey buddies, come on in the kitchen
0:03
and I want to thank y'all for being my sunshine today.
0:09
It's actually kind of cloudy out.
0:11
Well now the sun shining out, ain't it?
0:13
But y'all are my sunshine and I thank you so much.
0:17
Ain't that a pretty yellow that just makes you smile
0:22
Well, I've got another recipe
0:24
from a friend that I've never met.
0:28
Hopefully one day I'll get to meet her.
0:30
Her name is Sherry Kilgore and she said,
0:34
"Dear Paula, there aren't many positive things
0:37
that were a result of the pandemic, but you sure were."
0:42
Thank you so much, Sherry. She said,
0:45
"I look forward to watching your show every day.
0:49
I love watching you cook with your pets
0:51
and you run around barefoot
0:53
and talking to Eddie and Teresa."
0:56
Yeah. What you see is what you get Sherry.
1:00
So anyway, Sherry has this recipe
1:03
and she received it from her aunt Charlene.
1:07
"It's one of the easiest recipes I've ever made."
1:10
And this sounds so simple, y'all.
1:14
But at the same time, it sounds decadent.
1:17
And it's called Chocolate Treasures.
1:20
And this is the Story Moaning Glory.
1:24
We got a half a stick of butter.
1:31
So I'm just going to cut that right in half
1:38
and put it in our pot.
1:43
And then we're going to add one canyon of Eagle Brand milk.
1:51
Now, you know Eagle Brand milk and butter.
1:54
This thing has got to be good.
1:57
Cause this stuff you could eat straight out of the canyon.
1:59
It's so delicious, ain't it? (giggles)
2:05
I'm making sure we get every drop out, y'all. Every drop.
2:24
The triplets y'all, are on vacation.
2:29
They are with the other set of grandparents.
2:35
They're celebrating their grandmother, Maria Otika.
2:41
And the children are getting to meet their cousins
2:47
And the cousins on Claudia's brother's side, Juan.
2:53
He has such a beautiful family.
2:55
They have two sets of twins and the oldest set eight
2:59
and then they got a set of five-year-old twins
3:04
and then Claud and Bobby with their triplets.
3:08
And I know their grand mama and grand daddy
3:13
It's the first time that both of their children
3:16
and all their grandchildren have been together.
3:19
So it's a good thing near down there
3:22
because I think I would be so tempted
3:25
to split these kids one of your cookie, Sherry.
3:32
All right. So we've got a half a stick of butter,
3:36
a can of sweetened condensed meal
3:39
and now they used to make 12 ounce bags,
3:42
but now they're 11.5 and that's milk chocolate.
3:48
And we're going to put it over here on this stove.
3:51
Let's see what Sherry's says.
3:54
"In a 3-quart sauce pan, melt the butter,
3:57
Eagle Brand and chocolate chips."
4:00
And she tells us, "Do not boil." You know, just melt it.
4:07
So that's what we're gonna do.
4:12
"When melted, remove from heat and add the vanilla
4:15
and then the flour, and finally the Pecans
4:19
and just stir well till blended.
4:22
And then you drop it on parchment paper
4:25
and bake it for about 10 minutes on 350 degrees."
4:31
I cannot wait to taste this chocolate cookie.
4:36
Sounds like it is truly a treasure.
4:40
So we've got the stove on back there and we getting.
4:47
Oh, look how nice at room temperature this butter is.
4:51
So got it going back there.
4:54
So we're going to need to go back here and stir.
4:58
And make sure it does not boil.
5:02
So I'm going to take all my stuff back here.
5:05
You know that some good stuff. Yes sorry, baby. (giggles)
5:15
So here's the ingredients.
5:19
It's a half a stick of butter, one can of Eagle Brand,
5:23
12 ounce package of milk chocolate chips,
5:26
one cup of flour, one teaspoon of vanilla
5:29
and two cups of coarsely chopped pecans.
5:36
Okey-dockey, it's totally melted and not boiling.
5:39
Now we're going to add like a teaspoon of vanilla.
5:43
We're going to stir in the flour.
5:47
And that was one cup of All Purpose.
5:55
I can't imagine a cookie being this easy to make.
6:02
Just sounds kind of crazy, doesn't it.
6:06
I don't know how to act not having
6:07
to pull out a big old mixer.
6:13
Okay. This looks like a chocolate icing, doesn't it, Eddie?
6:17
- [Eddie] Mh hmm. Yeah. I was thinking brownies.
6:20
- Oh. (laughs) All right.
6:21
Now we've got to add two cups of chopped nuts.
6:31
Now Sherry, you did not tell me how big
6:34
of spoonfuls to make these.
6:37
You just said, "Drop on parchment paper."
6:41
So, I want to get those nuts stirred in there really good.
7:14
Ooh. I just love the way those look.
7:19
All right. I'm gonna, just in case.
7:23
She doesn't say whether to spray it or not.
7:25
But I'm gonna spray it just cause I got the spray.
7:36
So, I'm gonna drop it like that big.
7:45
I'm taking off this paper just kills me.
7:59
Okay so, doesn't that look about the size
8:00
that was talked about, Eddie?
8:05
All right. In the oven. 10 minutes.
8:13
And we'll see what Sherry's been cooking all these years.
8:18
Love the fact that all the nuts is in it, y'all.
8:25
I have to just say this, y'all.
8:30
You must, must try this recipe. You must make it. Cause--
8:39
- [Woman] You need to break down
8:39
and tell him that he couldn't even wait for the film
8:42
to go before you had already eaten a cookie.
8:45
- Yes, yes. One cookie missing,
8:47
now there's two cookies missing.
8:53
This is incredible. Gottlieb's bakery,
9:00
an old, old family here in Savannah.
9:05
Gottlieb's bakery. And they made these wonderful choc--
9:11
What did they call them? Teresa, chocolate--
9:13
- [Eddie] Chocolate Chewies.
9:14
- [Teresa] They were called Chocolate Chewies.
9:15
- Chocolate Chewies. A wonderful, wonderful cookie.
9:22
Well, they have since closed,
9:23
but they wouldn't be as good so many years here.
9:28
This is a chocolate chewy.
9:32
How? How? How, how, how can I ever thank you
9:42
for sharing this recipe with us?
9:45
I have made these before.
9:47
That was supposed to be like the Chocolate Chewy,
9:50
but it was more detailed than this.
9:55
I've never made a cookie that tastes that delicious
9:59
that was that easy to make.
10:02
- [Teresa] 15 Minutes. That's from making it in the--
10:05
- Yes. And it makes. And I said, I didn't know how much
10:09
to dip it, but I did like a tablespoon.
10:20
And you know, just kind of did it like that. (laughs)
10:23
Just like that, y'all. (laughs)
10:35
Yeah. I was just going over the--
10:39
No, that's another recipe somebody gave me. Oh.
10:49
This is from Sherry.
10:51
- [Teresa] The other recipe.
10:52
Your recipe, is that it over there?
10:54
- No, that's another recipe. Oh. No.
11:00
- [Teresa] But they are gonna need to try it too
11:02
when they see that one.
11:03
- This is from Sherry Kilgore, this recipe.
11:08
And I can't thank you enough, Sherry,
11:12
because it is delicious.
11:14
If you need a dessert on the flyer, this one's it.
11:20
Thank you, girl so, so, so, so much.
11:24
And for my camp, we sending you love and best dishes, girl.
11:31
If you don't try this cookie, y'all. You're gon' be sorry.
11:35
I've already (indistinct) two. Two cookies.
11:40
I'm so fat, but I'm so happy.
