- Happy 12 days of Christmas cookies, y'all.
0:04
I'm onto our next recipe.
0:07
And that is a white chocolate cherry cookie,
0:11
or chunky, White Chocolate Cherry Chunkies.
0:16
And it sounds very similar to
0:18
what my precious cousin, Don Hiers, makes every Christmas.
0:23
When he gets here for the holidays,
0:26
the first thing I say is,
0:27
"are you making the cookies today,
0:29
the cherry chewy cookies?"
0:32
Well, this recipe is just a little different,
0:35
but this is, I'm making it and dedicating it
0:38
to my dear, sweet cousin, Don Hiers.
0:43
So, we've got a stick of butter,
0:47
and that's always a great start, y'all.
0:51
I'm gonna move this out of our way,
0:52
how about that, Eddie?
0:55
So you don't have to shoot around that.
0:57
Now, this butter has been softened to room temperature,
1:00
and I'm gonna add my white sugar,
1:04
I'm gone add my dark brown sugar,
1:08
and I'm just gonna beat those until it's creamy.
1:13
These are really easy cookies to make.
1:16
Don's are, well, they're beautiful
1:19
and they're so good, but his are a little bit
1:25
more intense than these,
1:28
'cause you have to make an icing for his,
1:31
and then you have to frost them all.
1:34
And so this way, we're gonna mix, mix, mix,
1:37
but hopefully get that same kinda good cherry flavor
1:43
that Don's cookies have.
1:46
(mixer running)
1:49
All right, and my recipe that I have calls for vanilla.
1:55
Now, this is where I would like to switch this up,
1:58
'cause, you know, I'm not really good about
2:00
doing my recipes like I write 'em all the time.
2:04
So I would prefer almond flavoring,
2:08
because almonds make you think you're eating cherries.
2:13
So do we have any almond flavoring anywhere, gang?
2:18
- [Eddie] I don't think so.
2:20
- No?
2:21
- [Theresa] This move is killing us.
2:23
- I know it. Theresa said, this move is killing us,
2:26
because we're just here temporarily
2:29
because we're having some reconstruction done on my house,
2:32
so we can't move in until all that's done.
2:35
So we're just kinda like half here.
2:37
(laughing)
2:39
We got just enough to get us by.
2:41
- [Theresa] And for every recipe,
2:42
you've asked for something we haven't had.
2:44
- I know it. (laughs)
2:45
- [Eddie] Well, construction hadn't started there yet.
2:47
- That's alright.
2:48
No, construction hadn't started, so, boo.
2:50
- [Eddie] We're just sneaking in here.
2:52
- I don't think I'll be able to film
2:53
when construction starts, do y'all?
2:55
- [Theresa] No, that's why we're trying to get these done.
2:58
- Yes.
2:58
- [Theresa] So we don't have to, we don't skip a beat.
3:00
- All right, look at this, y'all.
3:01
I remembered to break my egg in a separate bowl on that one.
3:05
Thank goodness the first one was good.
3:08
Okay, so I've got my vanilla in there, I've got my egg.
3:13
(blending)
3:13
What is that, milk?
3:14
- [Theresa] Yes, ma'am.
3:17
- Okay, we gone beat this up some
3:19
and try to get it a little bit creamier
3:22
before I add the milk.
3:26
(blending)
3:35
Yeah, see, it's getting real creamy.
3:40
And I just love cookies
3:41
that have brown sugar in them, y'all.
3:44
All right, I'm gonna put this down
3:46
so this milk won't fly all over me.
3:50
(blending)
3:54
Now it's safe to turn it back up, I think.
3:57
(blending)
3:59
Oh, Don, honey, you've got to try this recipe
4:02
'cause it's so much easier than that that you make.
4:10
Although it's so delicious, and it's kinda worth it.
4:13
Uh-oh, what have I done?
4:16
All right, now I've got to
4:17
reach over here and add my flour.
4:21
And this is what's gonna bring these cookies over the top
4:25
is candied cherries that have been roughly chopped.
4:32
My favorite nut in the whole world,
4:33
maybe second to a pecan,
4:35
macadamia nuts, and they're so expensive.
4:39
And white chocolate chips.
4:44
So I'm just gone stir those together,
4:46
and then we'll just fold this in at the last minute.
4:50
And I think I mentioned
4:52
on one of the shows that I've already done
4:55
that next Christmas, I wanna do the 12 days of Christmas,
5:00
but I want to do y'all's 12 days of Christmas cookies.
5:05
I wanna find out what y'all's favorite cookies are
5:08
and do those for y'all.
5:10
- [Jackie] Hello!
5:11
- Hola!
5:13
(indistinct chatter)
5:15
Hola!
5:16
(laughing)
5:17
Guess who's here, y'all, Guess who is here!
5:23
Oh my goodness! Guess who's here, y'all.
5:28
The triplets. Hey, Jackie!
5:29
- [Jackie] Hey, how are ya?
5:36
- You want to decorate some gingerbread?
5:45
Oh darling.
5:54
Oh, you got to be pretty for Papa mama.
6:00
Oh, who is over here? Meow! (Laughing)
6:07
Eddie, there's Eddie.
6:13
You want to get down, baby?
6:18
(indistinct chatter)
6:31
- I wore you a bell!
6:37
Okay. I'm just still, just adding the flour,
6:43
and I'm kind of doing it in batches,
6:46
just so it won't be overpowering
6:51
for our wet mixture that we got going.
7:01
I think I did that, this will be the fourth batch.
7:06
(blending)
7:11
Like I said cousin Don, this is a lot easier
7:13
than that one that you make,
7:18
but I hope it's at least half as good.
7:22
If I remember correctly, it's very good, so we'll see.
7:30
Alright, so we're just gone mix that up
7:31
and then, you know I added our
7:34
candied cherries, um, my favorite nut
7:39
in the whole world, macadamia nut,
7:43
and white chocolate chips.
7:50
So you can see those cherries are gonna
7:53
give these cookies such a pretty bright color.
7:56
It's gone be cheerful and Christmasy looking.
7:59
(blending)
8:02
Okay, that flung off pretty clean.
8:10
Alright, so we're just going to
8:11
fold those three ingredients
8:13
in and I just love white chocolate.
8:17
It's not really chocolate, is it? (Laughs)
8:21
White chocolate isn't chocolate, right?
8:26
Isn't that the way it goes
8:29
- [Eddie] I don't know, it must have like some.
8:31
- I don't know. I don't think white chocolate
8:33
is really a chocolate,
8:36
but it's very, very good.
8:39
Let me look at these pretty cookies.
8:44
This is a real stiff batter, y'all.
8:46
So don't think you've done anything wrong,
8:48
cause you haven't, it's just a stiff, stiff batter.
8:55
Okay, alright, so we're gonna,
9:03
we are gonna scoop these up,
9:05
and you remember I've told y'all, it's my suggestion
9:09
that you make sure every cookie is the same size,
9:12
because if it's too much in one
9:15
and not enough in the other,
9:16
they won't cook at the same time.
9:19
So this is a great way to make sure
9:24
your cookies are the same size.
9:26
And this is what I call my, my butter,
9:31
my butter baller or fruit baller,
9:37
whatever you want to call it.
9:41
But this will keep me, this will help keep me
9:43
on the straight and narrow, you know
9:47
making sure my cookies are all the same size.
9:59
You know, you're free to add,
10:03
You're free to add more cherries,
10:09
but I do recommend that you use the candied,
10:13
because they don't have any liquid in them.
10:18
That was missing a cherry.
10:21
So I think I can get maybe
10:24
one more layer down the center,
10:31
but you know, Maraschino cherries,
10:32
they are sitting in liquid.
10:35
So it would change the base of your cookie a little bit.
10:39
So I would definitely stick with the candied.
10:48
And like I said, you can always add more
10:50
if you want them, add more nuts,
10:54
add more white chocolate.
10:57
Oh my gosh, these look delicious.
11:07
Add a little cherry to that one
11:11
and the rest looks pretty good, don't you think?
11:13
So, I'm gonna put this in my oven,
11:16
which I have preheated to um,
11:20
I think it was 350 degrees, y'all.
11:23
No, it's 375, so that's what my oven is set at.
11:29
And we are gonna bake these for 11 to 13 minutes.
11:36
So if a recipe says 11 to 13 minutes,
11:41
always check your cookies or your cakes
11:44
at the lowest choice.
11:47
So I will be checking these cookies at like 10 minutes.
11:52
Cause you never know if your oven is calibrated properly.
11:59
So it's best that we keep an eye on things.
12:05
And of course you can always go to the store
12:09
and buy you an oven thermometer
12:12
and see if it's correct.
12:16
See if the temperature that you requested
12:19
adds up to what registers.
12:20
So that's a great way to find out y'all.
12:24
So we will be back to check on those cookies in 10 minutes.
12:29
Y'all don't go anywhere.
12:32
Okay, there are our Christmas Cherry Chunkies,
12:38
White Chocolate Chunkies, and look how pretty they look.
12:42
I think it's been a while since I've made these,
12:46
but I think next time I make them,
12:50
I'll add more cherries to them,
12:52
cause I was really like that pop
12:55
that those cherries give it and they're piping hot.
13:02
So I've probably, Ooh.
13:05
Maybe I can get them out to show y'all.
13:08
Now the recipe calls for 10 to 13 minutes at 375,
13:14
I think the oven is.
13:15
So this was at 10 minutes, y'all.
13:19
You can see my oven cooks pretty good.
13:24
So if you wanted to jazz up this cookie,
13:27
you could buy drizzling.
13:31
Eddie said he would like drizzled chocolate on top
13:33
with maybe some chopped peppermint bits,
13:38
right Eddie? Is this the cookie you're talking about?
13:40
- [Eddie] No, but this one here would
13:42
be good with white chocolate.
13:46
- Yes, because it's got white chocolate in it, right?
13:49
- [Eddie] Yeah.
13:51
- So put some white chocolate on top.
13:53
My head is full of sugar plumbs and cookies.
14:00
I'm getting them all confused.
14:01
We're far enough along into the 12 days of Christmas,
14:04
that I'm confused, but that's it, y'all.
14:11
One of our favorites for the
14:13
12 days of Christmas cookies.
14:19
Love and Blessed Dishes.
