0:00
- So y'all know how I'm always
0:01
making those gooey butter cakes.
0:04
Well, I'm going to share a recipe with you.
0:08
We are going to make gooey butter cake balls,
0:13
and we're going to form them into cookies and you won't
0:16
believe how good they are.
0:19
So just like the original gooey butter cake,
0:25
I've got a stick of butter,
0:30
it's been softening at room temperature.
0:33
I've got an eight ounce package of cream cheese,
0:36
that's at room temperature.
0:41
Come on out of that baby.
0:56
I just need a knife to
1:00
get all eight ounces on my cream cheese.
1:08
So we're going to beat this until it's smooth
1:15
(whisking machine engine)
1:17
and then we'll add our egg
1:21
and incorporate that real well,
1:26
And then we'll add our cake mix.
1:38
And you'll wanna make sure that those two items
1:41
are at room temperature, because it would be very,
1:44
very hard to beat if it wasn't.
1:47
So now we're gonna add our one egg
1:51
(whisking machine engine)
2:18
Oh, that's good and smooth.
2:23
So. the next thing is going to be our cake mix,
2:34
And I think there's a couple of different flavors of
2:39
chocolate out there in pre-made, pre-packaged cakes,
2:43
like a chocolate and then maybe a Devil's Food.
2:47
- [Theresa] That's a Devils Food
2:47
- Okay, this is a Devils Food, So it's going
2:49
to be real chocolaty.
2:51
- [Theresa] There's also like double fudge.
2:54
(whisking machine noise)
3:12
Okay, now I'm going to add the other half,
3:18
just makes it a little bit easier y'all,
3:21
not dumping the whole bag in at one time.
3:27
(whisking machine noise)
4:05
I want to stop a second and just bring
4:09
everything down to the center of our bowl
4:13
so it can all get mixed up.
4:27
(whisking machine noise)
4:52
All right, I swung that off the best that could.
4:57
it tells you to put it in your refrigerator
5:01
and chill it for two hours,
5:04
because we're going to roll our cookies into balls.
5:12
but you're not going to have to wait two hours
5:15
because Ms. Theresa is so damn good at her job,
5:20
- [Theresa] And it was such a hard dough to make (laughter)
5:26
And I'll divide this up among my grandchildren
5:31
and let them make their own cookies,
5:35
All right let me wash my hands,
5:36
because I done been licking my fingers.
5:44
So we're going to bake these y'all,
5:46
on a, ungreased cookie sheet.
5:52
And you want to just, oh, I'm sorry Theresa.
5:55
- [Theresa] No I'm just going to move some
5:57
of this out of your way.
5:58
- Okay, make room for a cookie sheet.
6:00
- [Theresa] Absolutely,
6:03
- So you'll want to scoop up like a tablespoon
6:15
- [Theresa] Do you want a big one or small one?
6:21
Teresa if you want to help me, that would be great.
6:26
- [Theresa] Let me wash my hands.
6:28
- It says not to grease it,
6:33
so, you know, I just like greasing my stuff.
6:41
- [Theresa] How about we roll them then we'll come back.
6:46
Its boring watching me rolling.
6:49
- So we're rolling them in powdered sugar,
6:53
and after each one, I wash my hands.
6:58
And I'm going to need to wash them one more time
7:02
or that may take two more times.
7:06
- You got the clean job.
7:13
now everybody that knows me
7:17
knows that I'm a nut lover.
7:20
So this little sheet is mine, I put nuts in it,
7:26
but you know, you can put whatever is your favorite thing.
7:33
These are all plain so I don't have to worry about,
7:35
you know, the little children.
7:37
So we're going to put things in the oven, a 350 degree oven,
7:41
and we're going to bake them for 12 minutes.
7:44
Then we're going to bring them out,
7:46
and we'll probably sprinkle them with just a little
7:49
bit more powdered sugar.
7:51
So y'all, they turned out so pretty
7:56
a little powdered sugar on top of them,
7:58
which, I mean, that's not even necessary.
8:02
I'm so glad I sprayed my pans.
8:10
So it's not necessary because they looked
8:12
so crinkled and so pretty, but,
8:16
a little bit more sugar won't hurt anything,
8:21
So these will remain,
8:26
soft and gooey in the center,
8:31
just like a gooey butter cake,
8:34
but you do want to let them cool
8:39
and I'm going to be delivering these
8:42
to grandchildren, in just a few minutes.
8:45
- [Theresa] And they're going to be thrilled
8:47
to see granny. - As soon as they cool.
8:54
Out here on my island ill deliver
8:59
Yum, yum yum. (laughs)
9:06
If you love the gooey butter cake, this is your recipe.
