- I am so excited.
0:03
You know, I feel sorry for people
0:05
that don't have a Eddie in their lives.
0:07
- Aww.
0:08
(Paula and Eddie laugh)
0:09
- I do!
0:11
I feel sorry for people that don't have
0:15
somebody in their life like Eddie.
0:17
So dependable that you can count on and
0:21
nothing but the truth is there.
0:25
So guess why I'm so excited today.
0:30
On top of all his pluses,
0:32
his momma and his grand-momma.
0:36
His momma is still a great cook,
0:37
and his grandma was a great cook.
0:40
So Eddie comes to the South with these
0:44
recipes that were very important to his family.
0:49
You know, to the little Yankees up there, right?
0:51
(Eddie laughs)
0:52
- Are you considered a Yankee?
0:54
- Yes.
0:55
(Paula laughs)
0:56
No, I'm a New Englander. (laughs)
0:59
- A New Englander. Okay.
1:01
I didn't know there was a difference. (laughs)
1:04
- There is, there is.
1:05
- Well, I'm telling you what.
1:07
A lotta Yankees come here and visit us
1:09
and I love every one of them.
1:11
- I've been a Southerner longer
1:12
than I've been a New Englander. (laughs)
1:12
- I know. Is that crazy.
1:15
Is that crazy.
1:18
(scissors clattering)
1:19
So, I came in the other day,
1:22
and Eddie had made this cake.
1:26
And I said, "What is that?"
1:31
It made my tongue wanna slap my brains out.
1:33
It was so good.
1:36
So I ask him if he would make a video
1:39
of him making this cake.
1:42
And he said, "Yes, it's normal and very accommodating."
1:47
So what is the name of this,
1:50
when did you first eat it?
1:53
We want to know everything.
1:55
- Well, going though, you know, comments
1:57
for a while, though, people have been
2:00
asking for a chocolate cake recipe.
2:03
- Are they gonna be happy or what?
2:06
- And I started thinking I knew my...
2:09
I think I was maybe around 13 when I was trusted
2:13
to get into the kitchen by myself.
2:14
- Without burning the house down?
2:15
- Right.
2:16
- So, I don't... Excuse me.
2:17
I don't know if I've ever told you all this
2:19
but Eddie is one of nine children.
2:24
So he had to elbow a lot of people out of the way.
2:26
(Eddie laughs) To get his share of food.
2:29
- I was at the end of the line.
2:30
- Yeah, yeah.
2:31
You didn't have to fight too long.
2:32
- I didn't have to fight too hard.
2:34
- Okay, well, I wanna get this said
2:36
so you can tell your story 'cause
2:38
I don't wanna interrupt.
2:40
But this is a little tip that I like to do.
2:44
I take a piece of wax paper.
2:47
This one's got an edge to it
2:49
so it's kind of hard for me to get to.
2:52
But I just set my cake pan on it.
2:55
And then I fold it in two.
3:00
Then I just cut that out and it fits in the bottom of my pan
3:05
because I wanna make sure these cakes don't stick.
3:08
Because there is absolutely nothing worse
3:12
than spending your time, money, and energy
3:15
baking a cake that sticks to the pan.
3:17
It's happened to me many times before.
3:20
(Eddie laughs)
3:21
So, this will just go right in the bottom of that pan.
3:25
But before I put that in, I will squirt it
3:28
with a little nonstick so that this will
3:31
kinda stick to it and not move around.
3:34
And then I spray my pan really, really well.
3:39
So that's just a quick tip for y'all.
3:42
Alright, I'm not gonna interrupt your story.
3:44
Go. (claps)
3:45
- (chuckles) Okay.
3:46
So, this is this is- - I could listen
3:48
to his stories all day. (laughs)
3:50
- This is gonna be kinda something for Father's Day.
3:53
- Yeah, yeah.
3:54
- And I think my-
3:56
- Did your daddy like these?
3:57
- My dad I don't think was really
4:00
that big of a sweet person.
4:02
But, he always tried no matter what we made,
4:06
he always tried it, and he would give his opinion.
4:08
- Uh-huh.
4:09
- And he always had an opinion.
4:10
(Paula and Eddie laugh)
4:12
- Well, I wonder who that sounds like.
4:15
(Eddie laughs)
4:17
- Uh, but-
4:18
- You know anybody that that sounds like?
4:19
(hand thumps on counter)
4:21
- No.
4:22
(Paula laughs)
4:23
No, no and I always like opinions, though.
4:25
- Uh-huh, I do too.
4:26
- I may not always agree with them. (laughs)
4:29
- That's right.
4:30
Eddie kids me all the time about I am a...
4:33
What am I? What did you say I am?
4:40
Gosh, when I want everybody's opinion on something.
4:43
- Oh, oh.
4:43
Well, I say you decorate by committee.
4:45
- Yeah, by committee.
4:46
(Paula and Eddie laugh)
4:48
I'll ask everybody that comes in here something.
4:50
Okay, I'm not interrupting.
4:52
- So, I started thinking about chocolate cakes,
4:55
and I knew my mother had (oil spraying)
4:59
a little spiral notebook that she had forever
5:04
and I remember going through it
5:06
and lots of them were from my grandmother's recipe.
5:09
- I want it.
5:11
- And I knew she had a mayonnaise chocolate cake.
5:14
- [Paula] Cake, yeah.
5:15
- And I cannot find it, but my mother said
5:19
"How about grammy's chocolate cake?"
5:22
And I said well, you know, (oil spraying)
5:24
I thought they were all her recipes
5:25
but, apparently, this is a chocolate cake
5:29
that's a little different.
5:31
There's no eggs in it.
5:32
(Paula grunts)
5:34
And the way it kinda comes out
5:37
is almost like a whoopee pie
5:39
and if you're from New England,
5:42
New Englanders have their own recipes for whoopee pies.
5:47
And checking out your-
5:49
- [Paula] It's like an inside-out whoopee pie.
5:50
- This is, right, it's a reverse whoopee pie.
5:53
We're gonna go on and frost this cake
5:55
with my grandmother's recipe for whoopee pie frosting.
6:03
And it is so decadent.
6:05
You take a bite and,
6:08
then you want another one immediately.
6:10
- Y'all got to try this. (Eddie laughs)
6:11
- So-
6:12
- This is easier than whoopee pies,
6:13
making all the individual ones.
6:15
- Right, right, right.
6:17
- This is just one big cake.
6:18
- One big cake, yes.
6:20
So we're gonna start with...
6:24
- [Paula] If you want me to do anything at all, just ask me.
6:26
But, I'm gonna sit down now.
6:28
- [Eddie] Okay.
6:29
- [Paula] Your pans are ready, Leroy.
6:31
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
6:33
- [Eddie] We're gonna start with
6:34
three cups of flour, and two cups of sugar.
6:39
And this is pretty much a dump-and-stir type of recipe,
6:45
there's no, you know, sifting and all that.
6:48
- [Paula] You know you love 'em.
6:49
- [Eddie] Two third cups of cocoa.
6:51
(glass clinking)
6:54
- [Paula] Eddie's using a spaghetti measurer. (laughs)
6:57
- [Eddie] No, no, no, no, no, this is
6:59
the Danish whisk that someone sent you.
7:02
- [Paula] Really? I thought
7:04
it was a spaghetti measurer. (laughs)
7:05
- [Eddie] Yes, well you know when we pack things up.
7:08
- [Paula] Uh huh.
7:09
- [Eddie] I just found it, and it's a whisk.
7:13
(glass clanking)
7:14
- [Paula] Well I sure did, I thought
7:15
that was spaghetti for one,
7:17
spaghetti for two, (Eddie laughs)
7:18
and spaghetti for a family.
7:19
(glass clinking) Okay. I'm shutting up.
7:21
- [Eddie] Two teaspoons of baking soda.
7:25
One teaspoon of salt.
7:27
(glass clinking)
7:28
And this has a little bit of vinegar.
7:33
Two teaspoons of vinegar.
7:38
(glass clattering)
7:39
And then,
7:42
two thirds
7:44
(glass clanking)
7:46
of vegetable oil and we're going
7:49
to beat this until it's, you know, smooth.
7:53
- [Paula] Uh-huh.
7:55
(glass clanking)
7:56
So this is a very easy cake to make, right, Eddie?
7:59
- [Eddie] Yes, yeah, I'm making it.
8:01
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
8:02
I'm making it.
8:05
- [Paula] Are you plugged in?
8:06
(glass clanking) the kids might've
8:07
turned it off, did they turn off the power?
8:09
(mixer rattling)
8:11
When Millie comes in, she wants-
8:13
- [Eddie] Pushes everything.
8:14
- [Paula] Uh-huh, yeah. (Eddie laughs)
8:16
(mixer rattling)
8:18
(mixer whirring)
8:21
- [Eddie] And then, let's see.
8:23
There is two cups of cold water.
8:26
(water splashing)
8:26
- [Paula] Now doesn't that sound strange
8:28
since you would use milk,
8:29
or buttermilk for it?
8:31
(glass rattling)
8:32
- [Eddie] Yeah, and it still comes out so...
8:34
- [Paula] Yeah.
8:34
- [Eddie] So, you know, decadent.
8:37
(glass rattling)
8:38
- [Eddie] Definitely, if you like whoopee pies,
8:40
that's all I can say it reminds me of.
8:42
- [Paula] Uh-huh. Very, very much.
8:44
(glass rattling)
8:46
- Although, I don't think my grandmother
8:48
necessarily frosted this with her-
8:52
- [Paula] The fluff?
8:53
- With the whoopee pie, I think,
8:55
I believe she would have used just,
8:59
you know, like a buttercream icing.
9:02
- [Paula] Uh-huh.
9:03
To me, this cake screams for the fluff frosting.
9:08
(mixer whirring) (glass rattling)
9:10
It just screams that.
9:15
- [Eddie] And the...
9:20
The frosting has some shortening in it, too.
9:23
- [Paula] Uh-huh, yeah.
9:24
- [Eddie] Which makes it...
9:27
- [Paula] Well my recipe is called
9:28
"Two Brothers Chocolate Gobs"
9:30
I used to make them for my children
9:31
when they were little baby boys.
9:34
And it has slight shortening in it as well.
9:44
(glass clattering)
9:45
- [Eddie] All right, so. (glass clattering)
9:46
- [Paula] That looks so good.
9:47
It's a thin batter isn't it?
9:48
(glass clattering)
9:50
Kind of on the thin side. - Yes.
9:53
Okay, so this is, nicely beatened up right now. (laughs)
9:59
- [Paula] Nice and smooth.
10:01
(Eddie laughs)
10:02
- [Eddie] And the last step we're gonna do
10:04
is add two teaspoons of vanilla.
10:10
- [Paula] Oh you're so good, you measure yours. (laughs)
10:13
- [Eddie] Well you know what?
10:14
Sometimes I think you're cheating yourself.
10:16
- [Paula] Oh no, I... (laughs)
10:18
Oh, I don't think I ever cheated that way.
10:20
(glass clattering) (Eddie laughs)
10:21
It seems to me you cheated yourself.
10:22
(Eddie laughs) (glass clanking)
10:23
To the top of that spoon.
10:25
(Paula laughs)
10:27
- [Eddie] We'll make it up in the frosting.
10:29
- [Paula] In the frosting. (laughs)
10:32
(mixer rattling)
10:36
- [Eddie] Okay, and it smells so good right now.
10:40
That chocolate and vanilla.
10:42
- [Paula] Uh-huh.
10:44
Oh.
10:46
Can't wait, y'all. (giggles)
10:49
- Okay, so we will divide it evenly, you know,
10:55
my mother said that my grandmother
10:58
sometimes made it in a deep cake pan.
11:01
- [Paula] Uh-huh.
11:02
[Eddie] And I think my mother actually makes it
11:04
sometimes in a bunt can. - [Paula] Yeah!
11:06
- I mean, pan.
11:09
So her recipe said 60 minutes.
11:13
Now, I did two-
11:14
- [Paula] Oh that had to be-
11:15
- It had to have been a deep pan.
11:17
Doing it in the the two eight inch or nine inch pans
11:21
it really only took between 25 and 30 minutes.
11:25
- [Paula] Right.
11:25
- After 20 minutes just start checking.
11:28
- [Paula] Well, you know I like your way
11:31
better because it gives you more fluff.
11:34
- Well, yeah, it definitely... - [Paula] I wouldn't want
11:37
a blank cake with one layer of fluff.
11:39
- Yes, yes, yes. (Paula laughs)
11:41
This gives you lots of icing this way.
11:43
- [Paula] Yes.
11:44
Unless you take it out of the bun,
11:45
slice it half in two, and then...
11:47
- Right.
11:48
(Paula laughs)
11:50
Okay, so- - [Paula] How do you
11:52
measure yours and make sure it's even?
11:54
- Well, I measure it the way
11:55
I told Theresa I measured it the way you measured it.
11:58
Because it seemed like it... - [Paula] Yeah, it works.
12:01
- Makes sense. - [Paula] Yeah, it works good.
12:04
- Doing cup by cup and... - [Paula] Yeah.
12:07
- So we're gonna get that done.
12:12
(glass clattering)
12:15
- Okay, to me that just assures
12:18
that your cake is gonna be leveled,
12:20
'cause, you know, I don't want
12:21
one fat one and then one skinny one.
12:24
I want them to be, you know, close to being the same size.
12:28
- All right so we're all cleaned up
12:31
and evened out on the
12:33
(pan clattering) pie.
12:34
I mean, the cake's plates. (pan clattering)
12:37
And (pan clattering)
12:40
I don't think we have to worry about too much.
12:42
They seem to settle in there pretty well.
12:47
But we're gonna go on and bake it at 350.
12:52
- [Paula] That's your oven.
12:53
You want me to take these? - You got em? Yup.
12:56
- [Paula] Yeah.
12:57
(pan clattering)
12:58
- And I would say that if you're doing it
12:59
with the two pans, you know,
13:02
start checking it after 20 minutes.
13:04
(pan clattering) - [Paula] Okay.
13:07
- And when the toothpick comes out clean,
13:08
then they are ready.
13:11
- All right, this is the good part, y'all.
13:13
I mean, this is the good.
13:16
- And that chocolate.
13:17
I mean, you can just smell that chocolate.
13:20
- [Paula] Now, sometimes, you'll take your knife,
13:23
and you'll level these off, like they do at the bakery.
13:26
- Yeah, when I made the last cake, it really
13:32
kinda rounded of on the top. - Did a dome.
13:34
- Yeah. So these actually came out really nice.
13:39
- Good. Good.
13:40
- So I'm going to double the recipe then
13:42
- Okay.
13:43
- For what she has for our frosting.
13:44
- Yeah.
13:45
- So then that entire cake is covered
13:46
and you got plenty in the middle.
13:48
- Yes. Yes.
13:50
- So, let's see.
13:50
Two and a half cups of confectioner's sugar, and-
13:54
- [Paula] Why don't I read out?
13:55
Why don't I read out? - [Eddie] Yes.
13:57
- [Paula] Now, are these doubled or is this-
13:58
- [Eddie] This is all doubled, yeah, yeah.
14:00
- [Paula] Oh, okay. - [Eddie] So this is-
14:01
- [Paula] Where is the single recipe for people?
14:04
- [Eddie] I don't have. Well this is...
14:06
If you're gonna do a cake, this is
14:08
about the amount of frosting that they're gonna need.
14:10
- [Paula] So, whoopee pie filling doubled recipe.
14:14
- [Eddie] Tell me what to add.
14:15
- [Paula] Two tablespoons of shortening.
14:17
- [Camera Operator] So that's four.
14:19
- [Eddie] Well, no, this is already doubled.
14:22
- [Paula] Yeah. It's already doubled.
14:23
- [Eddie] Yeah.
14:24
Already doubled it on there. (glass clattering)
14:25
- [Paula] One cup of butter.
14:27
(wax paper crumbling)
14:31
Yes.
14:32
(glass clattering)
14:34
(wax paper crumbling)
14:35
I like this recipe.
14:36
(glass clattering) (Eddie laughs)
14:39
(wax paper crinkling)
14:40
Two and a half cups of confectioner's sugar.
14:43
- [Eddie] That's in there.
14:45
- [Paula] Two teaspoons of vanilla.
14:51
- [Eddie] I'm not gonna short it this time.
14:53
- [Paula] Okay. (laughs) (glass clattering)
14:54
Give us what we want. (Eddie laughs)
14:56
And a fourteen ounce jar of marshmallow fluff.
15:00
Is that a fourteen ounce?
15:02
- [Eddie] This is actually...
15:02
I couldn't find a fourteen.
15:04
This is sixteen, so...
15:07
- [Paula] Oh, good.
15:08
- [Eddie] So we just wanna scoop it out.
15:09
- [Paula] So we got some extra.
15:10
- [Eddie] We got some to play with.
15:11
- [Paula] Yeah, everybody needs
15:12
a little extra fluff. (laughs)
15:16
Oh my gosh.
15:23
You need a rubber spatula.
15:25
- [Eddie] Oh, yeah, that would be great.
15:27
- [Paula] That's what I thought.
15:28
And I'm gonna...
15:28
(glass clattering)
15:30
I'm gonna spray this spatula.
15:32
So it won't stick so bad for ya.
15:36
There ya go.
15:38
- [Eddie] All right.
15:38
And I think I'm going to start beating it up
15:42
a little bit before I add it all in there.
15:45
(mixer whirring)
15:46
- [Paula] Holy moly! (laughs)
15:51
- [Eddie] And you know, I mean,
15:52
I remember whoopee pies.
15:54
- [Paula] Uh-huh.
15:55
- It wasn't something my mother made all the time.
15:58
- Uh-huh.
15:59
(bowl scraping)
16:00
- But if there was a party or definitely a bake sale.
16:07
- Oh my gosh.
16:08
- [Eddie] This was something that was made.
16:10
- Did y'all have cake walks?
16:11
Now when I was in grammar school
16:13
we used to have cake walks.
16:13
- I didn't have a cake walk, we had bake sales,
16:17
I mean, where you had everything.
16:18
- Well it was so much fun, you know.
16:20
They had squares and you would walk around
16:26
and when the music stopped...
16:29
I can't remember.
16:30
When the music stopped
16:31
- [Camera Operator] It was your number on the square.
16:33
- Yeah, yeah. On the square.
16:34
- [Camera Operator] And then they would pick a number,
16:36
and if you were on that number...
16:38
- Yes.
16:39
- [Camera Operator] You won a cake!
16:40
- Yes, yes.
16:42
- And you had no choice as to what cake it was?
16:43
- [Camera Operator] No, you got to pick.
16:45
- I was gonna say, I think you got to pick.
16:47
- [Camera Operator] But as it got slimmer,
16:48
then whatever was on the table was what...
16:50
- You were left with the leftovers.
16:54
- See if that didn't work better for ya.
16:56
Yeah, see, spraying that helps a little.
17:00
Helps it to run off of...
17:04
(glass clattering)
17:04
You want me to do that for you while you mix?
17:07
- If you want. Okay.
17:07
- Here, let me help ya.
17:09
- There's not that much left in there.
17:11
- I'm just... Oh, we gonna get everything.
17:12
(Eddie laughs)
17:15
(mixer whirring)
17:16
- [Eddie] I know if you use the whole jar
17:17
it works because that's what I did the last time.
17:19
(Paula and Eddie laugh)
17:20
- [Paula] Well we ain't changing things at this rate.
17:23
(mixer whirring)
17:28
I wonder how this would do if you melted it a little.
17:31
- [Eddie] Melted...
17:33
- [Paula] The fluff. Just a minute.
17:35
- [Eddie] I don't know.
17:36
I don't know if that would...
17:38
I don't know if I would want to make it too wet?
17:44
- [Paula] Well I was thinking for other things
17:45
not necessarily for this cake, but...
17:49
(mixer whirring) (bowl clattering)
17:55
This stuff is hard to get out of here, isn't it?
17:57
(mixer whirring) (bowl clattering)
17:59
This is the worst part of all of it.
18:01
(Eddie laughs)
18:02
Get my fluff out.
18:04
(mixer whirring)
18:07
I should've sprayed my hands, too.
18:10
(bowl clattering) (mixer whirring)
18:14
Ew, I'd like to fix me a cup of coffee then,
18:16
just to stir my coffee with it.
18:17
(Eddie laughs)
18:20
- [Eddie] All right, well I think that is it.
18:22
- [Paula] Well, I'm still scraping a little bit more, Eddie.
18:25
(mixer whirring)
18:28
- [Paula] Look at that.
18:29
- [Eddie] Got a little bit left.
18:30
- [Paula] At least another good tablespoon.
18:32
(mixer whirring)
18:33
I think we're done now.
18:34
(bowl clattering)
18:38
- [Eddie] And I think what works best
18:42
is if you refrigerate this a little bit,
18:45
let it firm up a little bit.
18:47
- [Paula] Oh, really?
18:48
- Yes, and you know we stuck the cake.
18:50
I stuck the cake in the refrigerator the last time.
18:54
Because I was going back to it too much
18:58
so I thought if it was out of sight
18:59
(Paula laughs) it was gone.
19:01
- You'd forget about it for a while.
19:02
- And I thought it tasted great when it was chilled.
19:04
- Uh-huh. - Like a whoopee pie.
19:05
- I was surprised 'cause usually
19:07
I don't like a cold cake,
19:09
but I love the way it was cold.
19:12
- Yeah, it didn't change it at all.
19:17
(mixer whirring)
19:18
So I'm gonna-
19:19
- You want me to put this last little scoop in
19:21
before it all gets licked off?
19:22
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
19:24
- I'm gonna put this in the refrigerator
19:27
(bowl slaps)
19:28
and we'll come back and frost the cake.
19:30
Okay, so we went on and got the first layer done,
19:36
and, you know, I added just a little bit more
19:38
in the middle just so you have that...
19:40
- I noticed you had that on the last one!
19:42
(Eddie laughs)
19:43
- Nice thick center.
19:45
- [Paula] Yes.
19:46
Do you need some tooth picks so it won't slide off?
19:48
- [Eddie] You know, that was my mistake.
19:52
The last time I think I waited.
19:53
I did not wait long enough for the cake to be
19:56
and it started moving on me. (Paula laughs)
20:00
- [Paula] Yeah. Yeah.
20:01
- [Eddie] I don't know, this one might still move.
20:04
- [Paula] Well I'll get you some tooth picks
20:06
if you feel like you need them.
20:07
- [Eddie] Yeah, why don't we stick a...
20:10
- [Paula] Okay.
20:12
- [Eddie] I think in the middle.
20:13
- [Paula] Okay.
20:15
I know I had to chase them all over the board, before.
20:23
'Cause I didn't have a tooth pick in it.
20:26
(glass clattering)
20:28
You want me to just stab it?
20:29
- [Eddie] Yeah.
20:34
- [Paula] Oops! (laughs)
20:35
- [Eddie] Just remember where you put them.
20:37
(Paula laughs)
20:38
(Eddie laughs)
20:42
- [Paula] Well, if somebody swallows a toothpick (laughs)
20:47
they're taking too big a bite.
20:49
(Eddie laughs)
20:52
- Okay, and at this point, I would go on
20:54
and get a big glass of cold milk ready
20:59
so that you can slice it, and sit down
21:03
and not be interrupted in any way,
21:05
and enjoy this decadent treat. (laughs)
21:09
- Well hurry, we hungry. (laughs)
21:12
What are you doing now?
21:13
- All right, it's done.
21:15
We're ready to cut into it. - But what you got
21:17
in your hand? - [Eddie] I'm just gonna put
21:18
some chocolate sprinkles on top.
21:20
- [Paula] Oh, okay don't put 'em on my piece, please.
21:21
- [Eddie] Don't put it on your piece?!
21:23
- [Camera Operator] I said the same thing.
21:24
- [Eddie] You're going to want to go away with...
21:28
- [Paula] I'm just gonna want what's really real in there.
21:30
- [Eddie] Okay, well we won't do it then.
21:31
- [Paula] No, put some on half of it or whatever.
21:33
- [Eddie] There's no point in doing that.
21:35
- Okay. (Eddie and Paula laugh)
21:38
- We'll just cut into it.
21:39
- I just want the real taste of this cake.
21:44
Yeah, little slivers.
21:46
(camera operator snorts)
21:47
(Eddie laughs)
21:48
(plate clatters)
21:49
'Cause I bet I'll be coming back.
21:50
Oh, you got a plate too. (gasps)
21:55
(plate clatters)
21:57
- Voila.
21:58
- Look at that, y'all.
22:00
(plate clatters)
22:03
Now you know that's (indistinct) good.
22:06
(silverware clangs)
22:11
- Theresa.
22:16
- That cake is so moist.
22:17
- Yeah.
22:19
- Theresa, would you like some?
22:28
- I really like it when it's chilled a little.
22:30
- It's good either way, Eddie.
22:32
- Yeah, the icing I think just makes it.
22:35
(Paula hums)
22:38
Yes, I found myself last time eating it like that.
22:43
Cutting it. (laughs) - Yeah. (laughs)
22:46
So, I would say if you're looking for a dessert
22:49
for Father's Day, this would be a good one to make.
22:55
- [Paula] If your father is a chocolate eater,
23:01
I think he will love this.
23:02
- It is a good treat, and in our house we call it
23:07
Granny Langley's Chocolate Cake. (laughs)
23:09
- Grammy who?
23:11
- Langley.
23:12
- Langley. Grammy Langley's Chocolate Cake.
23:15
- So Happy Father's Day.
23:17
- Grammy Langsley, Grammy Lansgley. (laughs)
23:24
- Langley. (laughs)
23:25
- Langley.
23:26
This frosting's got my tongue
23:28
glued to the roof of my mouth.
23:30
(Eddie grunts)
23:31
So I just always love it when
23:32
Eddie shares his family's recipes.
23:38
I'm always enthralled and interested,
23:42
you know, what went on in everybody else's kitchen.
23:46
- You know what I love? This cake actually has
23:48
a little bit of, like, a crunch.
23:51
Almost like a cookie top to it.
23:54
- That's what I said last time.
23:56
When it sat in the refrigerator.
23:58
You bit into it...
23:59
Oh gosh, I just lost a crumb.
24:01
- Yeah, it has.
24:02
- And it had a crunch to it.
24:03
- It has a moist part and has...
24:04
- Uh-huh.
24:05
- Not quite a brownie. - Where was the crunch?
24:07
Was it the bottom of it?
24:10
No, I think it was the top.
24:11
- Mh-hmm.
24:15
- So, what are you gonna share with us next?
24:20
- I don't know, I'm gonna have to go
24:21
(Paula laughs) visit my...
24:23
- Call Tara.
24:24
- My mom and see what she's got.
24:27
- Thank you, keep 'em coming.
24:30
Toot toot. Happy Father's Day!
