- Who loves cinnamon rolls?
0:03
Oh my gosh. I love 'em.
0:05
And when I make 'em with yeast
0:07
and all that, you know, it takes so long.
0:10
And I was readin' this little recipe
0:14
in somebody's magazine.
0:15
It wasn't mine
0:17
but it was in a magazine
0:20
and it was an easy cinnamon roll
0:23
that you actually cook in the air fryer.
0:26
So I said, ooh, that's a double winner.
0:29
So I'm gonna be usin''''' crescent rolls.
0:33
They recommend crescent rolls.
0:35
And I'm gonna add 1/3 of a cup of brown sugar
0:40
and about 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon
0:49
and about 1/3 of a cup of powdered sugar.
1:04
And I'm gonna mix this together
1:05
with 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
1:11
So this is gonna make our crescent rolls.
1:14
It's gonna turn our crescent rolls
1:16
into cinnamon rolls.
1:20
I adore a cinnamon roll
1:24
with all that ooey gooey icing on top.
1:28
You know, when Eddie and I was
1:30
out there flyin' a lot before COVID
1:33
oh my gosh, we'd be in the airports.
1:39
And those, you know what cinnamon rolls I'm talkin' about.
1:42
You could get extra goop on top.
1:45
Oh my goodness.
1:46
It was so hard for me to walk by those
1:49
and not get one.
1:53
But I didn't get 'em, did I Eddie?
1:55
- [Eddie] No
1:56
- Maybe once.
1:58
- [Eddie] Maybe you did. (laughing)
2:00
- Maybe once but you know,
2:02
I could've got one every time I walked by one
2:05
but I didn't.
2:07
But not 'cause I didn't want it.
2:09
- [Eddie] Well I know in Minneapolis
2:11
depending on which-
2:12
- Yes.
2:13
- [Eddie] Terminal we were in.
2:15
- We were in.
2:15
- [Eddie] There was one that was worth going to
2:18
though because it had that bakery in it.
2:21
And they had the best cinnamon rolls there.
2:25
- Oh gosh, that's what we miss about Minnesota, isn't it.
2:31
All right. Let's see.
2:32
I want to make sure I get this right.
2:34
So combined butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
2:38
And it just calls up an 1/8 of a teaspoon of salt.
2:42
So that would probably be an eighth.
2:47
And now it said spread butter mixture over dough,
2:52
leaving a fourth of an inch border.
2:57
Alright, now let's see what we do
2:59
with the cream cheese, okay.
3:01
Calls for cream cheese, but that goes in that yummy icing.
3:06
All right. So we got that mixed up good.
3:09
So I'm going to open my Crescent Rolls.
3:14
This thing always scares me, if it pops before
3:17
I mean for it to pop.
3:26
Great dime a day, I don't think they wanted me
3:28
to get into this.
3:30
Okay.
3:33
So we're gonna to unwrap the rolls and you can see
3:38
I put a little flour down so they won't stick
3:43
And I may need a little bit more flour,
3:48
'cause I don't want these puppies stickin'.
3:53
So we want to just press these together
4:01
So it'll make one long piece of dough.
4:08
All right. Now it said spread butter mixture over dough.
4:14
All right. No let's back up.
4:16
Roll out Crescent dough in one piece,
4:18
pinch seams together and fold in half.
4:22
Okay. So we will fold that in half.
4:35
And we'll pinch it back together again.
4:39
Now after I pick up what their putting down,
4:44
what that recipe is putting down.
4:46
I may be changing this a little bit. In fact,
4:49
I am going to change some of it already.
4:52
All right.
4:53
And then what does it say to do?
4:54
Pinch seams together and fold in half,
4:56
roll dough into a nine by seven rectangle.
5:01
Okay. So I'm going to have to find my little,
5:04
my little rolling pin.
5:08
Here's my little handy dandy rolling pin.
5:23
It's trying to stick together, isn't it?
5:31
Now their recipe, I think called for just a regular,
5:36
an eight ounce tube of Crescent rolls.
5:43
And I don't know what we'll use, but we're using the jumbo,
5:49
'cause if I make cinnamon rolls
5:51
I want to have as many as i'm capable of making at one time.
6:01
Okay. Does that look like what they say?
6:04
A nine to seven, Eddie?
6:10
- [Eddie] You've got your little handy measuring tool
6:12
on the side there.
6:13
- Oh yeah.
6:14
(laughing)
6:15
Alright.
6:18
I know, you know,
6:19
this is my favorite cuttin' board and it's,
6:23
it's a Paula Dean cuttin' board
6:27
Meyer made this for me
6:30
years ago and it's got your pie circle,
6:33
so you can figure out how,
6:35
what size to make roll out your pie crust to.
6:39
Okay, so it said a nine by seven.
6:47
Well, I can't, I can't,
6:50
I don't know if I'll be able to move it Eddie.
6:53
- [Eddie] That looks about right.
6:55
- Yeah.
6:56
Like I say we've actually got more dough
7:00
than their recipe had.
7:05
All right, so now we are gonna spread our cinnamon
7:18
And sugar mixture,
7:20
and we're gonna leave about a half an inch border.
7:29
I may need some more cinnamon and
7:36
butter and sugar since we got more dough.
7:45
I don't want no skimpy cinnamon roll.
7:51
That'd be just enough to make your mouth mad.
8:03
Okay. Now here's where I'm going to be a little different
8:09
from their recipe.
8:14
To me, a cinnamon roll is not a cinnamon roll,
8:18
unless it has nuts and raisins.
8:21
So I am gonna to be adding that.
8:28
Yeah, could of stood a little bit more sugar.
8:30
Couldn't I, Eddie?
8:33
Maybe that would be enough. They say leave how much?
8:37
A fourth of an inch.
8:38
So I've left more than a fourth of an inch.
8:42
So lets bring that out a little bit more.
8:50
You know, if this turns out good,
8:53
what an easy way to satisfy a cinnamon roll cravin'.
9:01
'Cause once I know what I'm doing,
9:03
this is going to be really, really easy.
9:09
Okay. Now I've got to go stop
9:12
and find my nuts
9:14
and my raisins.
9:17
This is the beauty of cooking, y'all.
9:20
You have the ability to make it
9:24
any way you want it.
9:29
Express yourself.
9:34
Does that look like enough nuts, Eddie?
9:37
- [Eddie] Yeah that looks good.
9:38
- I don't want to be shy of no nuts either.
9:42
All right here come these wonderful raisins that just add a
9:46
little bit more sweetness to it.
9:50
I love raisins.
9:51
I love raisins in my oatmeal cookies and in my cinnamon
9:56
rolls.
10:02
So, I tell y'all make it,
10:04
make it the way the recipe has been given the first time.
10:07
But you know,
10:08
I've just been in the kitchen long enough to know
10:12
that I like nuts and raisins.
10:20
So here we go.
10:20
It said to start at the long,
10:24
at the long side, roll up dough,
10:30
like a jelly roll.
10:36
Okay.
10:41
Ooo this is going to be good.
10:50
This is the way,
10:55
I'm going to dampen that seam
10:56
just a little bit to
11:01
see if I can get it to seal
11:05
a little bit better.
11:31
Yeah.
11:34
Yes, yes, yes.
11:40
I'm trying to bring all my fillin' all the way to the end.
11:51
I think we gonna have a good,
11:54
right good cinnamon roll y'all.
12:02
All right. Now let's see if they,
12:07
let's see if they recommend brushing it with an egg.
12:19
No, they don't recommend puttin' it with an egg.
12:24
I mean, coatin' it with an egg.
12:27
Ok. So they just tell us to cut,
12:32
and make six
12:33
cinnamon rolls.
12:35
But I think we're gonna get more than that because
12:43
we used the larger Crescent dough.
12:58
You do want to make sure that you cut them all about the
13:01
same size though.
13:03
(Timer dings)
13:05
Ooo, that tells me something is ready.
13:18
Okay.
13:21
Look at these. Y'all I got to check something in the oven.
13:26
Y'all talk amongst yourselves.
13:31
And I think these are going to probably cook beautifully
13:34
y'all because you know how good my biscuits bake in this.
13:42
The biscuits are wonderful.
13:49
Ooh, I'm so excited.
13:53
A cinnamon roll in like 10 or 15 minutes.
13:58
Yay.
14:07
I could have rolled them a little bit tighter, but,
14:21
But I didn't have 'em in the right position.
14:25
You know, when I started rolling up,
14:27
I should have turned it towards me
14:31
and I would have had a tighter, tighter roll.
14:36
All right.
14:43
I'm gonna give those a spray,
14:46
And I'ma put them in our air fryer at 350,
14:58
for 10 minutes.
15:01
And I'll be checking those because I don't know what kind of
15:04
air fryer they were usin''''''',
15:05
but I know it wasn't a Paula Dean,
15:07
it was a kind of a small air fryer.
15:11
So I'm gonna keep my eye on that.
15:18
But while they're baking,
15:20
I've got to make our top to go on these hot cinnamon
15:26
rolls. Because to me it's the best part.
15:31
This is my first check y'all
15:35
and they are looking good,
15:40
but I'm going to cook them. You see I've,
15:42
I'll cook in my air fryer. I'll usually cook on like 400,
15:47
but this recipe called for 350.
15:49
So I'm bumping it up to 375.
15:54
And I'm addin' another five minutes.
15:56
So in your air fryer,
15:58
if you have an air fryer or you putting this in a regular
16:02
oven, you'll just have to play with that time
16:08
until you get it right.
16:10
Okay. So y'all saw what the cinnamon rolls
16:14
looked like after 10 minutes,
16:18
because I usually cook on like 400 degrees,
16:21
but I'm doing what the recipe said and starting at 350,
16:25
but I did bump it up to 375 and I added another five
16:29
minutes.
16:30
All right. So I'm going to make that delicious,
16:35
gooey topping that we love so much on cinnamon rolls.
16:41
Now the recipe calls for two tablespoons of half and half,
16:44
four ounces of cream cheese, did it call for four ounces or
16:48
three ounces?
16:48
- [Theresa] Three ounces.
16:49
- I added a good 'nother ounce
16:51
because the recipe said it made
16:54
six cinnamon rolls while mine may,
16:57
because I was using the Grands, mine made
17:03
2, 4, 6, 8, 10.
17:07
So I might need a little bit more of the icing.
17:13
So it called for a third of a cup of powdered sugar.
17:15
Well, I'm doin' a heaping cup.
17:22
And I'm just (hand mixer motor sounds)
17:26
All right, I'm gonna to get a little vanilla.
17:29
I don't know if it asks for vanilla but
17:36
I'm coming out with my own vanilla spices
17:44
And I can't wait to share these with y'all.
17:47
So this is vanilla paste.
17:50
So I'm going to add just a little bit.
17:52
You can see the paste is a little thicker than vanilla,
17:58
the regular vanilla flavoring.
18:01
(Hand mixer motor sounds)
18:04
Wow.
18:07
Ooh.
18:12
Look at these. Now, so in our air fryer cooking it 350
18:20
degrees, these took 15 minutes,
18:28
but had I been cooking them on 400 or 375?
18:33
They might've gotten done in three minutes.
18:37
Ten minutes.
18:39
All right. So Theresa, I'm so excited about
18:41
these I can't think.
18:43
I can't think, do we have a platter or something?
18:45
I can take these out and put them on.
18:46
- [Eddie] Yeah, right here on the
18:49
(tongs clacking)
18:51
- Oh, yay.
18:52
- [Theresa] I was gonna say "You're asking me?"
18:53
I don't know where everything is yet.
18:58
- Eddie moved this piece into the kitchen y'all.
19:03
This was actually in the laundry room at River Bend
19:07
for us to fold clothes on.
19:10
And so Eddie said you just need something else down here,
19:14
so he put it in here and now I am,
19:20
what is going on?
19:22
And now I am so dependent on it.
19:26
It's got to stay there forever Eddie.
19:31
All right. So I'm going to take these out,
19:35
put 'em on our platter.
19:38
They look delicious.
19:42
And remember I always recommend sprayin'.
19:48
Your biscuits or any kind of dough that you're making.
19:54
All right.
20:00
All right. Those in the front,
20:01
I have found that in an air fryer,
20:06
the food in the back tends to cook not as fast.
20:12
(background talking)
20:14
So i'm going to take these
20:16
and put them back in just for a few minutes.
20:25
Hey, you got it.
20:27
All right.
20:32
Here we go, the best part.
20:37
- [Theresa] Those are really pretty.
20:38
- Aren't they pretty?
20:43
I'm just amazed that we can have a cinnamon rolls so quick.
20:50
Alright.
20:52
Y'all want half or whole?
20:54
- [Theresa] I want half.
20:56
- Okay, any particular one?
20:58
- [Theresa] Nope.
21:00
(laughing)
21:04
- Eddie, you want half or whole.
21:07
- [Theresa] You know you want
21:08
- Well Eddie's kinda been watching what he eats
21:11
- [Theresa] He's, I know.
21:12
- Cause I've been watching him. What he eats.
21:22
- [Theresa] These are good.
21:24
- Ain't nothing wrong with a quickie
21:26
every now and again y'all.
21:30
And that's pretty good for a quickie.
21:35
Isn't that yummy?
21:36
- [Theresa] Uh huh.
21:38
- It's about as good as those that you buy at the airport.
21:41
(Eddie laughing)
21:44
Nasty Michael, they got boogers.
21:49
They got boogers in 'em.
21:54
Michael?
21:56
- [Michael] What?
21:57
- Turn around, look at us.
21:59
(laughing)
22:02
- [Theresa] You've got stuff all over your face.
22:04
- Do I? Well, that's what makes it so good.
22:09
So I'm so glad I saw this recipe.
22:14
- [Theresa] You made it your own.
22:15
- Uh huh, yum.
22:19
So next time and there will be a next time.
22:24
The next time I would need to make these with no nuts and no
22:29
raisins, so our little toddlers can have one.
22:32
I didn't think about that.
22:33
I was just thinking about big old fat Guinea.
22:39
So do try this. It's worth it.
22:43
Y'all Max is back in a diaper.
22:46
He's up, he's back to his evil ways.
22:51
He's pee peein', where Pumpkin, the cat is been.
22:55
So when he comes in here, he has to have on his diaper.
23:01
And I just had me a treat.
23:04
I had the most wonderful cinnamon roll.
23:08
(multiple people talking)
23:10
Do you want that treat? Do you want that treat little girl?
23:13
You want it bad?
23:15
You want it bad?
23:17
Say I want it so bad I can hardly turn over.
23:20
(laughing)
23:21
All right, everybody sit.
23:25
- [Eddie] Max, sit.
23:26
- You know I can't get into these bags anymore.
23:28
They make it so hard to get in 'em.
23:36
Okay. Y'all just be patient.
23:40
Be patient. My lil childrens.
23:44
Can't do it. Can't do it.
23:46
All right here. We'll try it this way.
23:50
I'm gonna be over the,
23:51
I got it!
23:55
Alright, sit.
23:58
Max you're such a good boy.
24:01
All right here you go sweet girl.
24:05
All right, my baby. Is that what you want?
24:09
Is that what you want?
24:13
Oh my goodness.
24:15
I feel like if I have a treat,
24:17
they have to have a treat too.
