0:00
- We're back reading the Bible on this one again y'all.
0:05
The creamy peanut soup
0:08
that I made is also in the Bible.
0:10
I'm cooking a lot out of it because I found
0:13
that I've had a lot of requests
0:14
for certain types of recipes.
0:18
So, out of the Bible today,
0:22
I'm going to share with y'all the most elegant, easy,
0:27
stupid easy, creamy, easy shrimp bisque.
0:34
Like I said, it's an elegant bisque.
0:38
And bisque, when you associate things with the word bisque,
0:45
you're usually talking about some kind of shellfish,
0:53
it usually lends itself to a seafood.
0:58
So, like I said, this is just so easy
1:01
and it will serve up beautifully for you.
1:05
Now, I'll start by chopping
1:11
a half a pound of shrimp.
1:16
So, I'm gonna give these kind of a just a rough chop
1:24
because I've got my little handy dandy whisker
1:28
over here that I'm going to use
1:36
to break them down even a little bit more.
1:40
now I'm gonna put in one can of cream of celery soup,
1:49
and this is going to help act as a thickening agent.
1:53
And also a lot of flavor.
2:00
I told you, this is just stupid easy.
2:08
Let me get my whisk back.
2:17
Because I'm going to whisk in
2:43
Right now, I'm just going to add the milk
2:46
and I'm gonna hit this
2:48
with my little emulsifier.
3:02
I think the grandchildren would love doing this.
3:24
All right, let's see.
3:26
I'm gonna need two cups of half and half.
3:31
So I'm gonna go ahead and add just some of that,
3:38
And then I'm going to throw in my shrimp.
3:46
Now, if you want your bisque totally, totally creamy,
3:52
then you can put this in a food processor
3:58
and that will make it really, really creamy.
4:06
Okay. So half a pound of shrimp.
4:16
I should've got a deeper bowl.
4:33
I think it might take me back to my childhood.
4:41
Let me put this right in there.
4:58
This will be ready in, like, five minutes.
5:01
All right, so I'm now going to add the rest
5:11
I'm gonna add two teaspoons of tomato paste.
5:19
I'm gonna add one teaspoon of paprika.
5:25
Cause you know how bisque and stews,
5:27
they had that little hint
5:30
of something red in 'em.
5:38
I don't wanna get covered in this.
5:44
And I lost my aprons.
5:48
I was going to hang 'em one day
5:49
and I couldn't find the hook to hang 'em on.
5:52
So now I don't know where they are.
5:54
Eddie, have you seen them?
5:55
- [Eddie] No, I'm not sure
5:56
I noticed one hanging in here. - Okay let's get our shrimp.
6:00
It's caught up in there
6:01
and I'm going to get every bit of that out.
6:12
Now, this recipe just called for a half a pound
6:15
but you could certainly add more to it.
6:22
All right, so we just gonna cut on that
6:34
The longest part is just pulsifying
6:41
the shrimp and the creams.
6:43
All right, so, that's it!
6:48
Now, I've got some Sherry
6:52
here for those that like Sherry,
6:55
and I'm not going to add those to our bisque,
6:58
because not everybody cares for Sherry.
7:01
So I ain't going to put this, huh?
7:03
- [Woman] i.e. you, example being you.
7:09
- [Woman] Yeah, i.e. is a short thing for example.
7:13
- I did not know that, I learn something new everyday.
7:18
I.e.? I.e.? And it's not "for your information,"
7:24
- [Woman] "an example"
7:26
- An example, I.e me.
7:34
- [Woman] So that was the moral of the whole I.e.
7:40
Look, see how that's a pretty kind
7:42
of pinkish color now, y'all?
7:52
So, I'm just going to wait for it to get hot.
7:57
And I'ma have me a bowl in my grandma Paul's bowls
8:03
that she used for Riverbend.
8:05
I just had the peanut soup in it.
8:07
And you know, some things just tastes
8:10
so good in certain things.
8:12
I don't know if I've ever shown y'all my plates that came
8:15
from Riverbend because grandmother served for lunch.
8:19
A lot, lot of men that worked at Georgia Power,
8:24
across the street from Riverbend,
8:26
plus we had the tourists because,
8:31
when Riverbend was at its height,
8:35
that was the only way to get to Florida.
8:38
If you went to Florida, you had to go down US 19.
8:42
So, grandma served quite a few people.
8:46
And, when I eat out of our plates
8:50
that she served her food in at the restaurant of her bowls,
8:55
it just makes the food tastes so much better.
8:59
Like she had a hand in this.
9:02
So, won't take that but a second to get hot.
9:05
While our bisque is heating up,
9:07
I'm going to chop up a little parsley
9:11
because that's what we're going to garnish our bisque with,
9:20
and a little of the Sherry for those that want it.
9:31
And this is all that you gon' need.
9:43
You know what, I like flat leaf parsley.
9:48
I don't know if there's a big difference
9:51
in the curly and the flat leaf,
9:56
I just kind of like the flat leaf.
9:58
- [Eddie] I love it, I never think to use it,
10:00
but I love the scent of it.
10:02
- [Paula] I mean, you wouldn't believe
10:05
the aroma that's coming up
10:15
All right, I'm gettin' my bowl ready.
10:31
I just need this spoon.
10:38
You know, if you don't live on the coast,
10:45
you can still get some good shrimp
10:50
that are maybe fresh-frozen,
10:54
because the way they are freezing everything these days,
10:59
it's just like, really tastes,
11:02
tastes terribly much like it's fresh
11:06
because they flash freeze everything, now,
11:08
you know, it doesn't sit and take forever.
11:14
So, if you wanted a little bit of Sherry this time.
11:21
I forgot to salt and pepper, it.
11:31
but I'm gonna salt and pepper it just a little bit,
11:34
it doesn't need much.
11:48
Put a little bit there
11:51
and a little bit there.
11:53
Michael went to work at 2:30 this morning, y'all
11:58
and I was up and awake talking to him
12:06
and he didn't tell me what time he would be back home.
12:14
I swear, this tastes like crab.
12:16
It really does, it tastes like a crab bisque.
12:20
But so anyway, he just got home
12:25
and Michael adores soups,
12:28
any kind of soup, I mean,
12:30
he's not real, real picky.
12:32
And you wouldn't think that about a man.
12:34
You'd think you'd want something hearty,
12:35
like meat and potatoes,
12:38
So he's going to be in hog heaven when he wakes up
12:42
and finds peanut soup, shrimp bisque.
12:47
Is that the only two soups I'm making today?
12:50
- [Woman] Yes, ma'am.
12:53
- He's going to be happy as a clam, happy as a shrimp.
12:59
I'm gonna put just a little bit.
13:09
That's it, that's enough.
13:18
It's not bad, but I still like it without it.
13:26
You get you some pretty bowls and some ritzy folks
13:32
and serve this as first course
13:34
and they're gonna think you're a genius.
13:38
Love and best dishes y'all!
