- Hey y'all, it's Jamie Deen.
0:01
I'm not in the "The Chicken Box" today.
0:02
I am belly up to the bar.
0:03
I got my friend Troy here with us.
0:05
T Monts is gonna take us
0:06
through a couple of drinks.
0:08
I don't make a lot of drinks.
0:09
I drink a lot of drinks.
0:10
Troy, what you got going for us today?
0:12
- So this is our best ever Bloody Mary.
0:14
We make it here at the Lady and Sons.
0:16
We infuse vodka with peppers,
0:19
let it sit for at least 24 hours
0:21
so it gets that good kick to it.
0:23
And we make a homemade Bloody Mary mix.
0:26
And it is a little spicy for some people.
0:28
So if people don't like it that spicy,
0:31
we just put regular vodka in it.
0:32
But to me this is the perfect balance.
0:34
It's gonna have that kick,
0:36
but that's also something you can drink
0:38
on a warm summer day.
0:39
- Yeah, we've had homemade
0:42
Bloody Mary mix here for as long as I can remember.
0:44
When Brooke and I were dating,
0:45
we would go to "Georgia Games" in the Fall
0:46
and I would fix gallons of Bloody Mary's here
0:49
and carry 'em up to Athens.
0:52
- [Brooke] I'm gonna show them
0:53
this is the container.
0:58
That's the pepper, isn't it, the bottle?
1:04
- All right, so we have our glass here
1:06
that we have rimmed with some lime juice
1:12
It's a good classic for here in Savannah.
1:15
So we're gonna take two ounces
1:23
and then we're gonna do five ounces roughly
1:25
of our Bloody Mary mix.
1:27
We're gonna use a similar glass to this,
1:29
so we just wanna fill it up pretty well.
1:32
Like I said, this is something we make in-house,
1:36
We're gonna grab a tin
1:37
or you can just use another glass.
1:40
Mix it back and forth.
1:50
- [Brooke] Troy, what goes in a Bloody Mary mix,
1:52
when you're making a mix?
1:53
- So we used fresh tomato juice,
1:58
Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, lemon juice,
2:02
horseradish, a little bit of cayenne pepper,
2:07
but you can put it just about
2:08
any kind of ingredients like that.
2:11
We do put some Old Bay in there
2:13
just for that little bit of a kick.
2:15
But people do things so differently.
2:18
It's all about your personal taste.
2:20
I know people that put a one hot sauce in it,
2:24
It's just whatever works for you.
2:25
For us, this is just something simple,
2:28
something good and something
2:29
that everybody likes.
2:30
- It's all the notes to classic Bloody Mary
2:33
with the heat, the Worcestershire,
2:34
the vodka, the tomatoes.
2:38
- So what we do is we take a piece of bacon,
2:42
put it in the glass, and then we make a garnish.
2:44
So we use some olives,
2:46
some sweet red peppers, cucumber,
2:50
from the Paula Deen retail store downstairs.
2:53
And then we take a nice little stock of celery
2:59
and then we have these awesome
3:01
little Tabasco hot sauce.
3:02
I wish we had this for our Paula Deen hot sauce.
3:10
and always hold up the best.
3:12
But if the server's gotta get steady hand,
3:15
they can take this just like this to the table.
3:18
- Wow, that is beautiful.
3:19
- [Brooke] That is fabulous. - Really nice.
3:29
Alright, that's it for today, y'all.
3:31
Just assume that I'm gonna drink
3:34
I'm Jamie Deen, this is T Monts.
3:35
We'll see you around the bar.
3:42
