0:00
- I'm back in the kitchen with my buddy,
0:03
and we're doing another Father's Day dish,
0:05
but you know what, we're-
0:06
- Mm-hmm. - Gonna switch it around.
0:06
You can do this for Father's Day.
0:09
- But the Jamie Dean family
0:12
has been a couple under the weather there.
0:15
- And I know that they have said
0:19
they sure would love for me to cook something-
0:21
- Something for them, yeah. - And bring it.
0:23
So I'm gonna be making lasagna.
0:26
- And you are gonna be making my orzo.
0:33
- Mm-hmm. - It's real simple.
0:34
- It is, this is so- - This is something
0:36
that Bobby cooks a lot with.
0:39
- Oh, really? - The orzo.
0:40
- Yeah, it's so good. - Yeah, yes.
0:41
- It's definitely (mumbling)
0:43
- Yes, yes. - Yeah, so-
0:44
- So it's real easy. - Yeah.
0:45
- Butter, squash, yellow squash, zucchini,
0:49
onions, garlic powder, chicken stock.
0:51
- That's right, orzo. - Orzo.
0:53
Salt pepper and cheese. - That's it.
0:55
- Please. (Joseph chuckling)
0:57
So Joseph is gonna do that.
0:59
I used to, could multitask, but-
1:03
This is a super-easy recipe. - It is all good.
1:05
Yes, it is. - We're just gonna add
1:06
two tablespoons of butter.
1:08
- Yes. - Maybe a little bit more
1:12
And then we're going to saute our garlic
1:17
and our onions down in the butter.
1:21
- Did I get you a spoon? - I have a-
1:25
- Wooden spoon. - You got a wooden spoon.
1:29
Okay, and so (bowl clinking)
1:31
we're just gonna saute this for a few minutes.
1:33
Doesn't have to be brown.
1:36
You don't wanna have caramel like,
1:40
Just cook them down a little bit.
1:41
Definitely melt the butter.
1:42
- We brew the newspaper through it kinda.
1:46
So we're just gonna do that real quick.
1:49
And then now what we're going to do is
1:51
at the same time we're going to add in the orzo.
1:55
And this is almost like toasting the orzo
1:58
a little bit, but- - Yeah.
1:59
- Really it's bathing the orzo and butter.
2:01
- Yeah. - Which there's nothing wrong
2:05
or pasta in butter. - Not bathing butter
2:06
quite often. (crew member chuckling)
2:09
- (chuckling) Coco butter? (Paula mumbling)
2:10
(crew member chuckling) Real butter.
2:12
- No, real butter. (chuckling) (crew member chuckling)
2:15
No, I'm kidding. - A butter bath.
2:17
Hey, that might be a thing.
2:19
Somebody needs to invent
2:20
a butter bath. (crew member chuckling)
2:21
- [Paula] Well, I'd be the one to do it,
2:23
(crew member chuckling) Joseph.
2:25
- So right now we're just taking the butter
2:27
and coating it all over the orzo.
2:32
And now what we're going to do is add in our squash
2:40
and then we're going to add in our chicken stock.
2:44
And as you can see, this is so simple, super-fast.
2:49
Gonna add this into as well.
2:55
Just stir that in. - Does that even have to go
2:57
in the oven- - No, it doesn't have to go
2:59
you just cook it right here on the stove.
3:02
And once we add the chicken stock,
3:03
it's only gonna take about 10 minutes to cook.
3:05
- Yeah. - Because the only thing
3:07
you have to cook really is the orzo.
3:10
And so now that we have that done,
3:13
we're gonna add in our chicken stock,
3:21
- It's a great side dish- - And add all that in.
3:26
This would be good with fish.
3:27
- Yeah. - This would be good with-
3:30
- Chicken, steak. - Chicken, yes.
3:32
Oh yeah, steak would be good. - And pork butt.
3:34
- Mm-hmm, and meat. - Pork tenderloin.
3:36
(crew member chuckling) Yeah.
3:37
- Shrimp, shrimp would be-
3:38
- Yeah. - Really good with this too-
3:39
- Oh yeah, it'd be good to- - (mumbling) lobster.
3:40
- Mixed in with it. - Mm-hmm, yep.
3:42
And so right now we're just going to bring this to a boil,
3:45
and we're going to let it cook for about 10 minutes,
3:48
and then we'll be right back.
3:50
Okay, and so now we've just allowed our liquid to boil.
3:55
And every now and again, you just wanna use your spoon
3:58
and stir it occasionally.
4:01
And we're just gonna keep on letting this go
4:03
for about another six to seven minutes,
4:05
then we'll check back in
4:07
and add in the rest of these ingredients.
4:09
- [Paula] Sounds perfect, and it smells good.
4:12
(crew member chuckling)
4:14
- Okay, so now what we're doing is
4:15
letting this come up to
4:20
and we're letting the liquid reduce for about two minutes.
4:23
And again, you just wanna stir occasionally,
4:26
so that all the liquid is absorbed.
4:30
- [Paula] Yeah, it's an easy dish, isn't it?
4:32
- It very easy, super-duper easy.
4:38
- And it's one of those dishes
4:40
where you could throw shrimp in it,
4:41
you could throw sausage- - Yeah.
4:43
- You could throw chicken. - Absolutely.
4:44
Hmm, hmm. - If you pick up
4:46
a roasted chicken from
4:47
the grocery store. - Yeah.
4:48
Put it right in. - It could be a
4:51
- Uh-huh. - Hmm, one pot meal.
4:54
- So we're gonna let this, again, keep reducing,
4:56
and then we're gonna add in the rest of our ingredients.
4:59
Okay, and so now we see
5:01
that our orzo has sucked up all of the liquid,
5:03
and our squash and zucchini is just the little,
5:07
just a bit tender, it's so good.
5:09
We're gonna add a little bit of salt and pepper.
5:12
Feel free to do it to taste.
5:15
There really isn't a lot of salt in this,
5:18
so I put a good amount of salt and pepper in it.
5:21
And then we're also going to add in some fresh parsley,
5:27
and we're just gonna sprinkle that in there.
5:29
That's gonna add a nice fresh component
5:32
to this delicious pasta dish,
5:36
and we're gonna just mix it together.
5:38
And we're also going to add in,
5:39
I almost forgot, our Parmesan cheese.
5:43
Cheese just makes everything taste
5:45
(crew member chuckling) so much better.
5:47
And so with this dish,
5:49
this cheese is gonna bind it together.
5:52
And wow, look at this.
5:55
This is absolutely beautiful.
5:58
And like Ms. Paula said, you can do this with...
6:02
Serve this with steak,
6:03
you can serve this with...
6:04
I really think chicken would be really good with this,
6:07
like a nice grilled piece of chicken breast.
6:12
like Marsala or like a...
6:18
Like a white sauce with chicken,
6:20
that would be really, really good with this too as well.
6:24
But this is beautiful.
6:25
- Oh, it's delicious!
6:27
(crew member chuckling)
6:29
- Then we're gonna get ready to plate it and eat it.
6:31
This kind of reminds you of risotto.
6:35
So, yeah. (speaker mumbling)
6:37
- Okay. - Super-excited about this.
6:39
Okay, now we're done,
6:40
I think we're ready to eat. (fork clinking)
6:45
(crew member chuckling)
6:47
And see how the texture is- - I'm back here,
6:48
putting these lasagnas together.
6:51
She's hardworking over there.
6:53
I'm just gonna put a little bit here,
6:55
so that we can both taste it.
7:03
I'm just gonna turn this off real quick and get,
7:07
excuse me, a little bit for myself here.
7:10
Hmm, this is perfect (fork clinking)
7:12
for Father's Day. - Is this my fork?
7:18
Bon appetit, Southern style.
7:21
- Oh my God! (fork clinking)
7:22
- Like I say, Bobby makes this a lot.
7:24
- Hmm. - Orzo, but I don't.
7:27
I guess I'm stuck on rice (mumbling)
7:37
- That is so good. - I'm double dick them.
7:40
In your famous words.
7:41
(plates clinking) - Mm-hmm.
7:42
(crew member chuckling)
7:43
- This is so good. (Paula mumbling)
7:45
It's a great Father's Day- - Hmm, hmm.
7:47
- Side to add, (plate and fork clinking)
7:50
again with pork roast- - Mm-hmm.
7:52
- With chicken, with steak.
7:54
- Chicken, chicken, chicken.
7:55
- Yeah, chicken is always good.
7:57
(crew member chuckling) - Yeah, yeah.
7:58
- Hmm. (fork clinking)
7:59
- Well, thank you, Joseph.
8:01
- Oh my goodness, it was an honor.
8:01
- You have allowed me to get this work done,
8:05
so I can get this to my chilling.
8:08
That's what a teamwork, to actually help each other.
8:10
- [Paula] That's right.
8:11
- So thank you guys again.
8:13
Love (mumbling) - Teamwork makes a dream work.
8:16
- Is what Michael's (crew member chuckling)
