- Come on in the kitchen, y'all,
0:01
because I'm fixing to share with y'all
0:03
one of the favorite dishes that
0:06
we have served over the years at The Lady and Sons,
0:09
and it's our cheesy meatloaf with a cheese sauce.
0:14
Everybody, everybody just loved that meatloaf recipe.
0:19
So I'm gonna share it with ya,
0:20
and we're gonna start with two pounds of ground beef.
0:28
You know what I just realized?
0:29
There's no egg up here, Theresa.
0:31
Did we not put egg in there?
0:32
- [Theresa] I don't see any.
0:34
- No, and I always put a egg in my meatloaf,
0:37
so I don't know.
0:38
- [Theresa] Do you want an egg?
0:39
- No, we'll go right by the recipe,
0:43
and we'll see if it needed that egg or not.
0:49
(laughs)
0:50
All right, so I've got my two pounds of beef.
0:55
I've got a teaspoon of house seasoning.
1:00
A teaspoon of seasoned salt.
1:05
So I'm just gonna mix that in there good,
1:07
and I like mixing my meatloaf with my hands,
1:12
and I had just washed my hands so my hands are clean, y'all.
1:21
Thank you, Theresa.
1:24
Will it come on for ya?
1:27
- [Theresa] All right, right there.
1:29
- [Paula] Yeah, thank ya.
1:31
All right.
1:34
So the next thing we're gonna add is our chopped onion,
1:38
and that's one like medium chopped onion,
1:44
one bell pepper chopped, a cup of shredded cheddar cheese,
1:53
a cup of cracker crumbs, and we use that buttery one.
1:59
Okay.
2:02
And a fourth of a cup of Worcestershire Sauce.
2:10
And one cup of sour cream.
2:15
And we just gonna mix, mix, mix.
2:19
That sounded like Bobby Dean.
2:22
Mix, mix, mix.
2:30
Okay, y'all today was Aunt Peggy's 91st birthday,
2:39
and this was the day that the triplets come visiting,
2:45
and they come once a week at like 10 o'clock in the morning
2:49
and they stay until about 12:30.
2:52
I feed 'em lunch and they play,
2:56
and they love all my pictures.
2:59
They just go around, and every baby picture,
3:03
I have to get 'em down and just give Amelia the frames
3:07
and she'll walk around with that picture
3:09
of the three of them when they were baby baby babies.
3:13
She'll walk around with it, but I wanna just show y'all.
3:17
So then when I get through mixing all this together,
3:22
I want to show y'all.
3:24
It just, this particular picture that Cloud took
3:28
just really, just really did something to me.
3:38
Okay, this smells heavenly, y'all.
3:43
All right, so I'm gonna start packing that down.
3:47
And over here in my dish, my casserole dish, y'all,
3:52
I sprayed it with a nonstick,
3:55
and now I'm gonna put some bread slices down
3:59
because that's gonna absorb the grease
4:03
and our meatloaf won't be swimming in it.
4:07
So when we take it out of the oven,
4:11
can you see that in there, Eddie?
4:15
When we take that out of the oven,
4:18
we will just have to take the bread off the bottom.
4:28
Okay.
4:31
This is gonna be scrumptious.
4:33
The recipe says to make it in like a eight-by-three loaf.
4:43
That's about where we are.
4:47
You're gonna love, love, love this meatloaf.
4:51
Alright, I'm gonna have to,
4:57
gonna have to go wash my hands before I can go any further.
5:01
So y'all can talk amongst yourselves.
5:11
Eddie, can we show them
5:14
that, Aunt Peggy's birthday cake?
5:20
Look at this.
5:21
I've just got to tell y'all.
5:24
If you live here in Savannah, there's a young lady out here
5:30
on Wilmington Island that has a bakery called Flirt.
5:35
- [Eddie] With Dessert.
5:36
- [Paula] Flirt with Dessert.
5:38
I'll flirt with it, honey.
5:40
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
5:42
This is the best caramel cake I've ever put in my mouth,
5:45
and it's a 12, isn't it Eddie?
5:47
- [Eddie] 12 Layers, yes.
5:48
- [Paula] So if you're ever coming through Savannah,
5:53
call Flirt
5:56
and order.
5:57
She doesn't just have these, so it's a special order.
6:00
But just order that 12 layer caramel cake.
6:05
You will not be disappointed.
6:07
A lot of people,
6:10
well, to get to Tybee, you have to go
6:13
through Wilmington Island.
6:15
So a lot of people stop here on Wilmington Island
6:19
and get their groceries that they plan to take to Tybee.
6:23
So that would be something great for y'all
6:26
to pick up to take to the beach.
6:29
It is so, so good.
6:33
All right, so we're gonna put this in the oven
6:35
at 325, y'all, and we are gonna bake it
6:40
until it's a nice brown color,
6:44
and it'll be at least 45 minutes
6:46
to an hour before this is done.
6:50
And while this is cooking, we'll make the sauce
6:53
that we're gonna pour over it,
6:56
and all you need is a big old pot of white rice.
7:00
Ooh, it's so good!
7:03
So in the oven, 325 for at least an hour.
7:10
Oh, so I'm gonna show y'all something.
7:12
So like I said, it was Aunt Peggy's birthday, 91,
7:18
and Cloud took a picture
7:23
that it just really, it really got to me.
7:33
Not quite a two year old hand and a 91 year old hand.
7:41
That just, that does something to me, I don't know.
7:46
You can see this one has walked a long road
7:50
and this one is just beginning her road with life.
7:57
And I don't know.
7:59
I said I wanna get this on paper and frame it.
8:03
I just, I just love that.
8:08
And let's see, I think there's one more.
8:12
You know, it's funny how babies, my babies,
8:17
my triplets will come up to me and they'll,
8:20
they'll feel of my skin, my arms
8:27
because that's so different for 'em.
8:30
You know, their momma and daddy's skin doesn't feel
8:32
or look like that.
8:35
But I just thought that was so sweet.
8:37
I just wanted to share that with y'all.
8:40
Okay, y'all, our cheesy meatloaf is ready,
8:43
and now I'm gonna make the sauce for it.
8:45
And I am using one can of cream of mushroom soup,
8:57
and cream of mushroom soup, it's,
8:59
you know, it's, it's just so good to use
9:03
just about any kind of sauce.
9:07
Okay, and I'm putting in, is that two cups
9:11
of shredded cheddar, Teresa,
9:12
or one? - Yes, ma'am, two.
9:15
- So two cups of?
9:16
- [Theresa] Really, it's two actually,
9:17
two and a quarter, I think.
9:18
It's like a little mixture. - Oh, okay, whoa!
9:21
All right, and now I'm gonna add one can of milk.
9:30
And we just gonna bring this to a boil,
9:35
and we're gonna pour it over that meatloaf.
9:38
And like I said, all you need,
9:41
come on, come on, fire up, there it is,
9:45
all you need is a big old pot of white rice.
9:53
And it's so good.
10:04
So it'll just take a second for that to come to a boil.
10:11
All right, you just wanna put that over heat, y'all,
10:14
until all your cheese has melted, and this is all melted
10:18
and now we're just gonna pour it over our meatloaf.
10:25
Oh my gosh, it's gonna be so good.
10:27
And then my leftover sauce I put in a gravy boat
10:31
and put it on the table, because you know what?
10:34
You see this pretty man standing right here?
10:38
He likes him some sauce, don't ya?
10:41
- I sure do.
10:42
That's delicious.
10:43
- I know, this cheesy burger meatloaf.
10:47
And you came in to tell me you got to go to work, right?
10:50
- Mhm. - Okay.
10:51
How long are you gonna be gone?
10:52
'Cause this was our supper.
10:54
- Just a couple of hours.
10:57
- Okay, good.
10:59
Well, what do you think about your supper?
11:01
- It's delicious, really.
11:03
- Good. - Yum.
11:05
Save me a piece.
11:06
- Captain approved.
11:07
Well, if you're just gonna be gone a couple hours,
11:10
I'll wait supper.
11:11
- Well, you know how things change.
11:12
- Yes, I do.
11:14
Well, you look nice.
11:16
- Well, thank you.
11:17
Don't get your eyes fixed.
11:18
- Okay, I'm not.
11:19
They can't get fixed.
11:21
- I know, it works out good for me.
11:24
- Yeah. (laughs)
11:26
I wish your eyes would get a little bit more blurred.
11:31
- They are.
11:32
- No, your eyes are good.
11:34
(both laugh)
11:36
- Alright, love y'all.
11:36
- You be careful.
11:37
Wear your gloves, wear your mask.
11:40
Don't touch anything.
11:41
- This is part of cleaning up rust.
11:43
- Oh, I bet, I bet.
11:45
I bet. - I brought my team in there.
11:46
- Yeah, good.
11:48
So I'll see ya in a couple of hours.
11:51
- All right, bye.
11:52
- Love and best dishes. (laughs)
11:56
He's so goofy. (laughs)
11:59
And love and best dishes to y'all.
