Valentine's Day is such a romantical day
0:05
isn't it people? I love this love. My Valentine's sitting over there on the sofa
0:12
and he is enjoying a hot cocoa bomb that a friend of mine made, Terry Blevins
0:20
and she owns a little bit of Heaven Cupcakes. And you can find her on Facebook
0:28
but it's so delicious, isn't it Mikey? It's great, yeah. Well, I'm gonna share with y'all
0:35
one of the easiest recipes in the whole entire world that would be like an overdose of chocolate
0:43
but this pie would probably be good with your hot cocoa. And you're talking about easy to make
0:50
Teresa actually made one, I got my eye on back there, and she said, you know, I'd never cooked before, Paul
0:58
before we had started. Will you tell them, Teresa? I was telling her that I didn't cook before we started
1:04
And I've only been in food and beverage for almost 30 years. How sad is that
1:10
But I said this is very scary because I'm learning how easy things are to make
1:15
So yesterday I tested this fudge pie because I just felt it was my duty to test it
1:21
And I made one and I was like, oh, my goodness. Like this can be done in like five minutes
1:29
So fudge pie could be a new additive in our house, which is not a good thing because as you'll see
1:34
in a few minutes, my husband ate half of a pie. So he ate half of the beautiful pie
1:42
that we're gonna demo. We're still showing it. That's all right, y'all gonna get to see it as is
1:50
And I think Michael has already put dubs on the half that's left
1:55
So we can really count on a husband to screw up good plans, can't you
2:01
I'll tell you what. I love it though, and you know what
2:04
He knows good food, so you can't wait for that. Isn't that wonderful
2:10
You know, cause there's nothing like lighting up somebody's face with something
2:14
that your little hands are prepared, you know? So this recipe is called an old fashioned fudge pie
2:23
So I'm melting my butter and my chocolate together. Now I'm gonna turn that down
2:29
because it takes the butter a good while to melt, but the chocolate melts very, very quick
2:37
So I would definitely recommend cutting your butter into cubes so it won't take so long
2:43
If you just drop the whole stick of butter down there, it's gonna take a while
2:48
So I don't wanna get this where it's ballin', ballin' hot. I just want it to just melt
2:58
because how many ingredients are in this one? Four two three four Yeah four ingredients And then the pie crust Yeah I telling you this is a delightful pie to make
3:13
That was the hardest pie right there. Pies can be tedious. You know it, Teresa? Very
3:20
All right, so I can't remember because we took the original recipe
3:26
And we bumped it up by a half. So that was one and a half cups of
3:30
it was one and a half sticks of butter. It was three ounces of chocolate. Mm-hmm
3:36
It now, you just put in one and a half cups of sugar and then you're gonna add in three eggs
3:42
Yes, my original recipe was half. It, anyway, it wasn't thick enough to suit me
3:52
You know, when it came out of the oven, it was like that thick. And I like a little thicker, a little thicker pie
3:58
which I will be showing you. So in making this time, Teresa made the call to one and a half times the recipe
4:08
that's in the book, which is perfect. All right, so I want to make sure, okay, it's great
4:16
It's melted, but still kind of cool. So I'm gonna put in three eggs
4:23
and then I'm gonna take my little hand mixer and look, he's sick
4:28
I have used this so long. He got a tooth missing. But I think he'll still do the job for us
4:39
We've got another hand, Victor, but I have to tell you what, it sounds like it's taking off the fly, doesn't it
4:48
It scares me. So I, you can do this without a hand mixer y'all
5:01
but I just want to make sure that every bit of that butter gets incorporated because you know, it separates
5:08
So it doesn't take but a second to do it just like this
5:13
Ooh, and I'm gonna tell y'all a way that I make hot fudge syrup. I've been making that since the children were probably six and four
5:34
Wow. I've been making it a very... I don't think you've ever made it
5:39
and you think this is simple, wait until you see how I make hot fudge
5:47
All right, so we wanna prick our pie. I forgot to do that, I'm gonna tell you
5:54
So I started to pour the filling in when I remembered, and then I pricked it and it still worked, so
6:01
Yes, when it's important to prick your crust Your crust is when you're cooking the crust first
6:10
Oh, okay. You know because you want to use your pie weights and prick otherwise you have big bubbles in it Okay but because we putting something in it Right It holding it down Right. Okay
6:23
And the recipe does not call for vanilla. And I can't imagine me making a pie
6:29
a chocolate pie without vanilla. I don't know how that slipped past me, but anyway
6:37
Would you say a teaspoon? Yeah, maybe a teaspoon. Did you put vanilla flavor in it
6:44
You know what? I was just thinking about the fact that I did not. Well, that's because I didn't have it on the list
6:49
I'm gonna ask a piece. And you know how I am about follow rules
6:53
I know you do. You're a rule follower. Always have been. And rule followers, I think, really like to bake
7:07
Yes. because it's a formula to it. It is. And you have to follow the rules
7:13
Cooking is intimidating to me when you have to just taste and..
7:18
Yes, but you know, I do love that kind of cooking. So is this about how full yours was, Theresa
7:27
Yes, ma'am. And I did put it on a pan just in case
7:32
Yes, yes, yes. Cause you just never know. You never know. Better safe than sorry. Yes
7:38
Now I kept opening the oven because I was so scared that something was gonna go wrong. Yeah
7:46
But my take on this would be if you put it in the oven, leave it closed, 375, 45 minutes
7:52
you should be right at. Yes. But knowing Paula, she'll check at 30 minutes
7:58
because she always checks my work. And I'm okay with that. No, no, no
8:03
I don't. Listen, Teresa is one smart cookie. Teresa got her, well she graduated from college
8:14
but she really got her on the job training with Disney World in Florida
8:21
So she got such a fabulous, fabulous business base because, you know, for them to be that big
8:30
they have to be. They're a good company and they're a very good company to start with
8:35
because their training is amazing. Well, I wouldn't take anything for you having that experience, Teresa
8:41
Me either. All right, so in the oven it goes 375. And I think you had a good idea when you said
8:50
don't keep opening the oven door, but I will open it a little bit sooner
8:58
in probably 45 minutes. Okay, so the chocolate fudge pie, y'all. We made it
9:08
You saw with what, three ingredients, four ingredients. Let's see, it's butter, sugar, chocolate
9:14
And eggs. And eggs, yes. And then you add in vanilla. Vanilla after it all melted together That your add Yeah very last you add the vanilla So Teresa made one so that we wouldn have to wait for one to bake before I could show it to y
9:30
And you see, I couldn't wait. Well, look what her husband did. I can't blame it all on him
9:35
I too, I too had a piece. Because we can't watch and look at something for him
9:41
not to eat it. So this is hot. We just pulled it out of the oven
9:45
and you know, we one and a half times, In fact, the way that this one was done
9:51
we'll have that on the website for you. But if you're strumming through one of my cookbooks
9:56
it's gonna give you a different amount. But this amount is perfect for a deep dish pie
10:03
Just perfect. You can see the pie is already just starting to settle
10:08
right in front of us right now. Right, it'll settle down just like Teresa's did
10:14
It gets really dense. Uh-huh, and it's very rich. I think it's better the next day too
10:21
Uh-huh, oh gosh, it just gets better and better. So yesterday I showed y'all a hot fudge sauce
10:30
that takes about three minutes to make that is like no other hot fudge sauce you'll ever have
10:36
Those in the jar at the grocery store, mm-mm, those won't cut it
10:40
So- And they're expensive, and the way you showed it- I know, and this is- It was reasonable
10:44
Yes, so you can cut you a sliver of pie, or a piece of pie
10:51
put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and then spoon you some of that hot fudge sauce
10:59
on top of it and put a cherry on it. Honey, you give that to me and I'll follow you anywhere, anywhere
11:09
So that's the story, Morning Glory, of the fudge pie and it's so good
11:20
Teresa was amazed. At how easy. At how easy and how good
11:27
So perfect dish for you to make for your Valentine's love bug or..
11:34
Just yourself. Just yourself, yes. I don't need a little bug for that
11:39
And you want it to jiggle a little bit, you know, when you take it out of the oven
11:46
because it is gonna settle just like fudge. Mm, that's good. So I hope y'all enjoy it
11:53
I hope you make it. If you wanna make it fancy, fancy
11:56
you can make your own crust. You can make a nice homemade butter crust
12:01
But to me, it's just as good in that frozen one. So love and best dishes
12:09
Hope y'all got some good plans for Valentine's Day
