- The last three videos that I have shared with y'all has,
0:06
they've all been from my very first cookbook
0:12
and I had so much fun writing this book.
0:17
When Random House bought it, it had been out two weeks
0:21
and the rewrite of it was very hard
0:27
because I had to be so specific, you know?
0:31
And I just dumped out my mama's sack of recipes
0:35
and then called some friends in to share with me.
0:40
And I wanted this cookbook to be fun.
0:42
You know, I want people to have fun
0:44
when they come in the kitchen.
0:45
So I hired a wonderful young lady
0:49
from the Savannah News Press because she was
0:55
into cartoon drawings.
1:03
This could be any of us y'all.
1:06
Did you ever have one of those days when you had to stop
1:09
and ask yourself, did I have the kids with me today
1:14
when I left the house?
1:18
We've all had one of those days.
1:21
But anyway, I was whipping through
1:23
and this recipe was shared with me
1:26
from a woman that worked at Memorial
1:30
and they gave me so much catering.
1:34
They had a luncheon almost every day, a meeting luncheon.
1:38
And her name was Nancy Blood.
1:39
And I hadn't seen her in years,
1:41
but wherever you are, Nancy, thank you
1:44
for sharing this recipe.
1:46
You had a child and this was one of their favorite recipes,
1:48
so thank you very much.
1:59
with just a sugar cookie dough.
2:04
And you know, you used to buy 'em in the rolls,
2:13
I mean, they're already done out
2:14
where all you have to do is just, you know,
2:20
they're all separated into the perfect bite,
2:26
So that makes it pretty good.
2:27
But I really kinda like making my own sugar cookies
2:31
'cause that way I can flavor 'em with whatever I want to.
2:36
So we just gonna run this out to the pan
2:39
and we're gonna put it in the oven
2:41
and we're going to bake our crust for our fruit pizza
2:45
for about 12, maybe 12 minutes, something like that.
2:49
It's not gonna take long,
2:50
because remember we have pressed this out.
2:58
the cookie dough pizza is in the oven
3:02
and we're gonna cook that 10 to 12 minutes.
3:04
But while that's cooking, I'm gonna go ahead
3:07
and make up the marinara sauce.
3:14
If you'll making a real pizza,
3:16
that's what we would be doing next.
3:18
But this, oops, come on ball.
3:24
I have the dropsy sometimes.
3:26
All right, so the sauce for our fruit pizza is one
3:32
eight ounce package of cream cheese,
3:34
a third of a cup of sugar,
3:37
and a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
3:40
Now, you could use a different flavor.
3:43
I almost think I would like maybe an orange.
3:48
- [Speaker] You do orange in everything.
3:56
What you think Eddie?
4:00
- [Speaker] I was gonna say I'm on the.
4:00
- [Eddie] If the fruit,
4:01
you're gonna have fruit on top.
4:02
- Well I'm gonna use vanilla since y'all are undecided.
4:07
We'll stick with a recipe.
4:09
How about that for a change?
4:13
Okay, so when our pizza comes outta the oven,
4:20
we're gonna have to let it cool completely.
4:23
But I'm gonna go ahead and get this
4:25
mixed up so it'll be ready.
4:27
Our fruit pizza crust is almost ready.
4:31
I'm cooking it maybe a little bit longer
4:33
'cause you think a crust is being kind of crispy.
4:36
So, you know, if I'm gonna let that cool,
4:40
I'm going to just add one other little thing, Nancy.
4:43
To me, this is gonna tear up my crust
4:47
when I try to spread that on a cold crust.
4:50
So I'm just gonna stir in a little heavy cream
4:55
and that'll make it a little bit more spreadable.
5:09
I don't know if my kitchen's that cool or what,
5:13
but, you know, my butter that I keep on the counter,
5:18
you know it's still even hard to spread.
5:20
So this kitchen must be kind of cool.
5:25
Look, that can be a little bit more?
5:30
Okay, I think that one.
5:37
You know, I wish Jack was here.
5:39
I told y'all none of jack shows are out yet,
5:47
week before, time flies so quickly.
5:50
Anyway, I shot five videos with Jack
5:54
and it was so much fun.
5:57
In fact, we talked about,
6:01
we were going through cookbooks
6:02
and we talked about the pizza,
6:09
So I wish he was here.
6:10
He said, oh Ginny, I'd love that.
6:13
So Jack, I wish you were here buddy.
6:19
You could help me decorate this.
6:21
And I feel like I need to switch places with Eddie.
6:25
And now remember, I added a little heavy cream to this
6:29
to make it a little bit more spreadable,
6:33
and said, arrange it in a pretty
6:37
formation any way you want to do it.
6:42
Wanna make sure everybody gets plenty of that
6:50
Okay, what should we do, Eddie?
6:56
- [Eddie] You put the south stone first, the gin.
7:03
This is like the glaze.
7:07
All right, so should we just do it haphazardly
7:24
what am I trying to say?
7:26
Some organization to it.
7:35
Have the strawberries on the outside.
7:39
Strawberries are pretty aren't they?
7:43
Let's see how much we have.
7:54
The oranges are beautiful.
8:37
Oops, I got a, right?
8:49
You know I've about decided y'all to do it this way.
8:53
So if there's fruits that,
8:57
whoever's eating doesn't like a particular fruit,
9:03
of it pretty easy or eat around it, you know?
9:08
You know what I mean jelly bean?
9:16
That kinda looks like a star, doesn't it?
9:22
I love the flavor of blackberries,
9:25
but those seeds just about drive my teeth insane.
9:31
And it is nothing better than a blackberry cobbler.
9:36
My grandma used to make one at least once a week.
9:42
- [Speaker] I think that looks pretty.
9:44
- [Ginny] Isn't that pretty?
9:47
All right, now let's see.
10:08
One little stem left.
10:10
Oh, oh, stem's broken.
10:19
All right, what do you think?
10:20
A little something more around there.
10:23
- [Eddie] I think it looks good.
10:25
- [Speaker] I think it looks good.
10:26
I think if you put too much more,
10:26
you're not gonna taste cookie.
10:32
- [Speaker] I think you got a little of everything.
10:36
- All right, I'm using a strawberry preserve,
10:41
so it's not just jelly
10:43
and I think just jelly would work a lot better.
10:46
So I'm gonna add just a little bit of hot water to this
10:50
because it's supposed to be a glaze.
11:00
Yeah, I'm glad we didn't put any more fruit
11:02
on it because the glaze kind of says it all.
11:13
- [Speaker] Yes it does.
11:15
- [Speaker] Sweet and sassy.
11:17
- Like some girls I know around here.
11:21
I think it's pretty.
11:27
What do y'all think?
11:28
[Speaker] Well, get some of this out of the way
11:29
so they can see it here.
11:32
It's so pretty and it's too pretty to cut,
11:38
'cause I'm gonna take it to see my grandchildren.
11:45
Loving best dishes, y'all.
