- Hey y'all. It's Jamie Deen and Theresa is here.
0:02
So you know that I'm here in the Chicken Box.
0:05
Theresa's come down today
0:06
and brought me a recipe that I absolutely love.
0:09
We were gonna do some crab cakes today.
0:11
Not crab cake, but we're doing a crab dip today.
0:14
The crab cakes, crab dips, crab fingers, crab toast.
0:18
We've been eating a lot of crab here on the coast.
0:20
You know, my mom and Mike pull blue crabs out
0:22
of the creek all the time
0:24
and it's only better than the crabs I'm making
0:27
for you today is the crabs that mama and Mike get
0:30
It can get expensive,
0:31
but everything in this whole world is expensive.
0:34
So today we're doing a very simple
0:36
put together recipe for y'all
0:37
so you can offer a crab dip
0:39
if you have people around your house this summer.
0:43
It's a no bake, so it's really easy.
0:46
I've got two eight ounce packages of cream cheese
0:48
that Theresa set out where it's nice and soft for us.
0:52
You want to get this soft
0:53
'cause we're gonna blend this together.
0:54
This is your typical standing stir. Nothing to it.
0:58
If you work with your cream cheese soft
1:00
it makes it so simple.
1:01
I've got some sour cream here. I'm going to use half a cup.
1:05
So half of this container of sour cream was going in.
1:12
Into this we're gonna add our lemon juice.
1:16
You know, check our, you'll find all the ingredients.
1:19
Y'all know how terrible I am about measurements.
1:21
So I've got my lemon juice in.
1:23
I've got three teaspoons of chives that are coming in.
1:27
I love chives. I love Theresa even more.
1:29
She put my things together so nice. Look how easy this is.
1:33
I would like for her to follow me all day
1:35
for my whole rest of my life.
1:37
It's about one and a half and this is about one and a half,
1:41
you're just on three.
1:47
You're gonna add a little bit
1:48
of fresh parsley to this as well.
1:50
This is a two teaspoons of parsley.
1:53
I'm gonna try my best not get any
1:55
of these big leaves at the bottom here and chop this up.
1:59
Parsley's one of those things that you can grow in the yard.
2:01
Our youngest son, Davis, is growing basil right now.
2:05
Basil is extremely versatile and easy to grow.
2:08
And so we started with that with Davis.
2:10
Parsley, same family, easy to grow
2:13
and you could use it in more ways than you think.
2:16
Little sprinkle of parsley on any dish
2:18
really finishes it off.
2:20
About two teaspoons of this in here.
2:23
I've got one teaspoon of horse radish that's going in.
2:28
I like it a little spice, I'm gonna add a little bit more.
2:31
And I've got two teaspoons
2:34
of Worcestershire sauce.
2:37
Worcestershire sauce that's about more.
2:42
I've got salt and pepper, y'all.
2:45
I'm gonna put maybe a teaspoon or so in there.
2:49
And then salt I'm gonna give a good pinch,
2:51
that's about our teaspoon.
2:55
I think the recipe calls for a half
2:57
and now this is our love crab that we're using today.
2:59
Make sure that you strain this off.
3:03
This is a eight ounce package is what we're using today.
3:07
But this has been strained, I'm gonna dump it right in.
3:10
Now this is what mama always would say
3:12
when we're working with crab,
3:13
"Don't tear it up. Don't tear it up."
3:16
So you wanna work gently with this.
3:18
So I'm gonna leave my crab out of it
3:19
until I get the majority of this blended up.
3:23
You really, if you're not careful, your crab can turn into
3:26
what looks like a can of tuna fish.
3:28
And you really want to keep the integrity of these lumps
3:30
so people know what they're eating.
3:33
So I would suggest, and y'all know me,
3:40
I'm gonna work this cheese
3:42
and these things together over here
3:44
until I get my crab in there.
3:47
'Cause you see, I'm really getting onto this.
3:49
I wanna make sure that my Worcestershire
3:51
and everything is well blended.
3:54
So I just kind of play frogger with the crab.
3:56
I'm pushing it outta the way, get all my ingredients done.
4:04
Now I'm gonna tumble this in and very gently break this up.
4:11
This is more pieces than lump,
4:15
but I don't wanna make it any more broken up
4:18
so I'm gonna gently fold all this together.
4:25
Now, you know, there's a bunch of different ways
4:27
that y'all can do things.
4:28
I tell you every time, change your recipe, make it your own,
4:33
You could put this into a dish
4:36
and pop it in the oven for a few minutes
4:38
and make it a warm crab dip if you wanted to.
4:42
But this time of year, with it being so hot outside,
4:49
I'm gonna keep it cold.
4:51
I've got this cute little dish.
5:00
Saved a little piece of my parsley.
5:12
The only thing I'm missing.
5:14
Hey, Will, would you hand me a lemon, please?
5:19
- We serve off this plates here at the Lady and Sons
5:21
and this makes a really nice set.
5:25
And y'all know that I'm talking colors.
5:29
I want to talk about colors and textures
5:31
and all different kinds of things.
5:33
So this plate is as pretty as it can be.
5:35
The only thing it needs is a little bit of color.
5:43
and put this together while I'm working with y'all,
5:46
this is certainly something
5:47
that you could do at the house in 15 minutes
5:49
before your next party comes.
5:52
Woo, it's crab dip season, y'all. I'm Jamie Dean.
5:54
This is the Chicken Box.
5:56
I see Y all around the kitchen. Thanks.
