0:01
so yah we made the peach cobbler earlier
0:04
now I think I can't do this with gloves
0:09
yo I just washed my hands but I've got
0:12
to have my real fingers to do this one
0:14
sorry I think this is the fourth show
0:21
I've done for YouTube the very first one
0:26
I did cracker salad you know I told John
0:30
that I'm trying to come up with little
0:32
things that hopefully you have in your
0:34
pantry at home so we did the peach
0:37
cobbler earlier well now I'm gonna share
0:40
with you my fried pies and it has this
0:45
airfryer of mine has just worked
0:49
beautifully
0:51
for my fried pies now this is what my
0:55
grandmother Paul used I don't even know
0:59
in her kitchen years if there was even
1:02
so much if there was such thing as puff
1:05
pastry back then I don't remember but I
1:09
remember this I remember grandma
1:14
taking her canned biscuits taking the
1:16
cover off or wrapping it and saying I
1:19
was so damn glad when they came out with
1:21
these canned biscuits
1:26
she loved the convenience of canned
1:29
biscuits that's what she used to make a
1:32
blackberry cobbler that's what she used
1:35
to make her fried pies but I on the
1:38
other hand prefer puff pastry that's my
1:42
favorite I'll use a canned biscuit if I
1:46
don't have any choice but I've taken my
1:48
sheet of and look I cook 20 and had it
1:52
ready for you I put a little dollop of
1:55
butter on it because remember there was
1:59
no butter yes no butter in it or on it
2:01
oh so I am dampening the edges
2:07
of my puff pastry you got to wet it a
2:11
little bit so that you can seal it so
2:15
I'm gonna put a scoop of my blueberry
2:18
pudding I mean my blueberry cop my pie
2:21
filling y'all and this comes in
2:24
strawberry it comes in apple cherry
2:28
cherry it just comes in so many flavors
2:32
is there a dishrag right there that I
2:35
can thank you Eddie Oh
2:38
comes in a lot of flavors and this is
2:42
the most convenient way to make fried
2:44
pies I've got my mushrooms thank you
2:49
I've got my mushroom I'm not my
2:52
mushrooms my peaches and my pear trees
2:56
out there and so I've got I've got fresh
3:00
pears and fresh peaches in my freezer
3:02
but we would have to take those out
3:05
sweeten them cook them down and then we
3:09
would have to thicken them with
3:10
cornstarch because this pie filling has
3:14
to be thick if it was spinning it would
3:16
run all out we would have no juice all
3:18
right so I've got those sides nice and
3:21
damp so we're just gonna fold it over
3:24
now you get in puff pastry you get two
3:29
sheets
3:30
why do my puff pastry box
3:33
oh don't worry about it you get two
3:38
sheets and I take my my itty-bitty baby
3:43
rolling pin and roll that sheet of puff
3:48
pastry out just a little bit so it's not
3:51
quite so thick and I get four fried pies
4:00
out of one sheet of puff pastry so in
4:03
order to make sure this is feels good
4:05
and my pie filling doesn't come out I'm
4:09
putting my times of my fork in flour and
4:15
I'm just coming around like that making
4:18
sure it's good and sealed all right now
4:24
I kind of like a shiny finish so I'm
4:27
going to wait you know what I'm gonna go
4:30
ahead and make another pie
4:32
before I do that I think I'll make three
4:38
pies because that's what I've got laid
4:41
out okay
4:44
so these are so simple y'all it's almost
4:49
silly they're so simple and people will
4:53
just think that you've been to a lot of
4:58
trouble
5:02
my favorite fried pie of all fried pies
5:07
believe it or not y'all is pear and then
5:13
apple is my favorite after that one and
5:18
peach is probably my least favorite
5:21
fried pie and I can't tell you why cuz I
5:25
love peaches I love peach cobbler but
5:31
when it comes to fried pies I I love
5:35
those pears now this puff pastry when
5:39
you thaw it out it comes tri folded and
5:43
when you unfold it well it takes a few
5:47
minutes but to thaw out before you can
5:50
unfold it but as soon as it starts
5:53
falling you can gently unfold it and
5:56
then it it thaws out really really quick
6:01
when you spread it out and I sprinkled a
6:05
little powder on my piece of parchment
6:07
paper so I could roll that crust out a
6:14
little thinner
6:18
okay so here we go just that quickly
6:26
I've made three front
6:29
well actually I made four because I had
6:31
one for y'all to see and I think I
6:34
cooked him about 10 minutes in the air
6:36
fryer that grandmama and myself have
6:42
always fried these on top of the stove
6:44
and a nice big skillet with maybe half
6:49
an inch or each of grease all whatever
6:54
you use to cook the frying and that
6:58
makes them really tasty but I have
7:03
realized the value of that airfryer
7:06
y'all I can get basically the same
7:09
effect without any grease ever touching
7:14
it so that really helps me on my
7:17
watching my intake of fat now I've just
7:23
used just the egg yolk for this and you
7:26
see how pretty and yellow that is so it
7:29
made it made that pie like a pretty
7:33
golden brown I'm gonna I've got room for
7:39
probably one more but I could probably
7:44
do four but I'm just gonna do three and
7:49
I did after the top started getting
7:51
brown y'all I did flip them over for a
7:54
few minutes because I didn't want a
7:57
doughy bottom on my pie I wanted to make
8:01
sure it was all nice and brown all the
8:03
way around
8:06
I don't know who came up with that puff
8:10
pastry y'all but I could kiss them
8:14
square on the lips because I've never
8:17
had a desire to try to make my own and I
8:21
admire people very much that are into
8:25
making all those delicate breads but
8:30
I've always just been a housewife trying
8:33
to beat the clock you know what I mean
8:36
so I'm gonna spray this I'm just gonna
8:42
kiss it with a touch of I think this is
8:46
canola no this is bacon but you can use
8:50
any kind you like you can use the
8:54
temperature you can find them in all
8:57
different selections all right now I've
9:00
got this on 350
9:03
and I'm putting for 10 minutes I don't
9:08
like to I don't like to use my airfryer
9:10
and put it 25 or 30 minutes because I
9:13
would no matter what I'm cooking I like
9:15
to at least check it at the end of ten
9:19
minutes so and it's even less if I'm
9:22
just eating up something so then we go
9:25
just that simple
9:28
what am I forgetting gang
9:33
what am I forgetting reconnecting
9:44
goodnight
9:49
yeah
9:52
[Music]
10:09
that's a pretty good job and I know
10:12
probably a lot of y'all keep these
10:13
biscuits in your refrigerator the first
10:17
one thing and then another so it really
10:20
makes it convenient if you don't have an
10:22
air fryer get your big frying pan load
10:27
it with whatever kind of all you choose
10:29
to use and fry them on top of the stove
10:35
we're lazy one thing that
10:37
but this is good and this is saving me
10:40
some fats that I don't need
10:45
whether one
10:52
Eddie aunty
11:01
Oh
11:03
that is exactly the way I deserve it
11:06
piggy asked if I would surf that with
11:08
some ice cream yes yes all you think is
11:14
just fresh sweetened whipped cream and
11:19
those frozen whipped topping personally
11:21
I don't use those I like the real deal
11:24
but whatever your tongue likes that's
11:31
the most important thing about all
11:33
cooking
11:36
that's what it depends on your tongue
11:38
and I love y'all and I will be doing
11:41
these some more please let me hear from
11:43
you if you have any special requests and
11:49
just remember we're all in this together
11:51
and we are going to get through it and
11:54
we'll come back stronger smarter than
11:57
ever love and best wishes
