0:00
- Hey everybody, it's Bobby here.
0:02
And man, can you believe it, but the big game is here.
0:06
So your favorite teams,
0:07
or maybe not, are getting ready to clash
0:12
and you gotta have some great recipes for that,
0:15
And today I'm gonna make a french onion dip.
0:18
and you gotta have one for, you know, every living room
0:22
or kitchen table at this time of year.
0:25
So I'm gonna start with the obvious,
0:27
by caramelizing some onions.
0:30
It's gonna take just a few minutes,
0:31
so yeah, that's perfect.
0:35
My butter is giving in right away,
0:39
but not burning, just slowly gonna melt down.
0:43
And I'm gonna add to that, my onions.
0:47
And we're just gonna let that go slow and low for, you know,
0:52
however long it takes.
0:53
But I like to caramelize my onions really low
1:00
So 10 minutes is being, I think, optimistic.
1:06
Definitely long enough for us to take a break.
1:09
So let's caramelize our onions and we'll come back.
1:12
Beautiful, our butter is melted
1:14
and our onions are beginning to do their job.
1:18
I'm gonna add a little salt, a little pepper.
1:23
Stir them in and we will let this process begin.
1:28
It'll take 10, 15, 20 minutes or so,
1:31
and we'll have some beautiful caramelized onions.
1:33
So we'll take a break, come right back.
1:38
Big game comes on in just a couple of hours.
1:40
I gotta get my French dip ready.
1:42
And I started with the caramelized onions.
1:44
They look really, really nice.
1:46
And, of course, they smell great.
1:48
This will make your whole house just smell so fragrant.
1:51
The aroma's fantastic.
1:52
So they're still hot.
1:53
I'm gonna put 'em in a little bowl, let them cool.
1:55
And then we will come back and complete the dip.
1:57
Those are caramelized onions, beautiful.
2:00
About 30 minutes on the stove top.
2:01
I like to do 'em slow and low, butter, of course,
2:07
to keep the butter from burning
2:08
is always a little bit of a secret.
2:10
So anyhow, the onions look great.
2:13
Now together I'm gonna mix sour cream
2:17
and some softened cream cheese.
2:20
The key to the cream cheese y'all is you got to soften it.
2:23
If you try to beat a really hard block of cream cheese,
2:26
it's just not gonna happen for you.
2:29
So we're gonna beat those two together
2:31
and while I'm beating them,
2:33
I'm gonna add in a packet of dry onion soup mix.
2:37
And this is gonna be a big flavor boost.
2:45
- [Speaker] And Bobby, that's not a full packet.
2:47
it's just about our tablespoon of the packet.
2:52
- So that's about a tablespoon of dry onion soup mix.
2:59
Not the whole packet.
3:09
Our cream cheese, sour cream,
3:10
onion soup mixture has come together beautifully.
3:13
And now to that, I'm gonna add our onions
3:24
and I don't wanna waste any of those onions.
3:35
Little cayenne and paprika.
3:45
Mix these ingredients altogether.
3:47
And yes, that already smells like French onion dip.
3:51
Oh boy, does that look good and smell good?
3:56
My friends are gonna be so happy.
3:57
And we will enjoy the game no matter who wins.
4:03
No, lemme rephrase that.
4:09
and the girls will come for the halftime show.
4:10
So pretty predictable.
4:16
To me, for the big game, I really don't care
4:19
who wins or loses, long as we see a good game.
4:26
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
4:31
So I want to taste this and I'm not gonna
4:33
use a chip or anything.
4:44
Oh, I wouldn't, don't buy french onion dip at the store
4:49
when it's this easy to make.
4:51
This is even better than what you can get at the store.
4:54
So with that, I gotta get to the living room,
4:57
'cause everybody's waiting for me where the chips are.
5:02
See you at the Masters.
5:07
