- Y'all, I'm fixing to make y'all some summertime
0:11
if you're going out on the boat,
0:13
you can put this in the cooler
0:16
and have it just ready to eat
0:21
or buy the pool or just by yourself.
0:27
But with the hot weather, this, this will be just
0:33
All right, now what I'm doing is I'm measuring out
0:39
one half cup of balsamic vinegar
0:44
and I'm gonna make a reduction
0:50
of this and it'll become like a balsamic syrup.
0:56
All right, that's a half a cup of
1:00
balsamic and two tablespoons of sugar.
1:07
So you're gonna need a real small sauce pan for this
1:14
and I got about the smallest one.
1:18
Somebody's calling us.
1:24
All right, so we're gonna cook this over medium high heat
1:30
for six, seven, eight, nine minutes.
1:35
What we want it to do, y'all, is reduce by half.
1:41
And the only way you can get that to happen is cook it.
1:46
Cook it down and you'll wanna stir this frequently
1:55
until the sugar is well dissolved.
2:03
And like I said, it's reduced by half.
2:08
And like I said, it'll maybe take about 10 minutes.
2:14
But if you do not want
2:18
to make your balsamic glaze, you can buy it
2:23
at the grocery store already done.
2:27
But I just wanted to share with y'all how simple it is
2:32
to make that balsamic reduction.
2:35
It's, it's good. It's really good.
2:38
But this is my favorite.
2:46
so we get- - [Theresa] It's the hardest
2:49
- Yep, this is the hardest part right here.
2:51
But we're gonna, we're making this to drizzle over
2:56
skewers that have watermelon, cheese,
3:05
- [Theresa] Strawberries.
3:07
I couldn't remember what all.
3:08
But just a perfect summertime snack.
3:13
And if you're got children that you're feeding,
3:16
they might like the balsamic syrup or they might not.
3:20
So you, you want to put your balsamic syrup on them
3:26
as you're getting ready to eat them.
3:29
You don't want to do it ahead of time.
3:31
So look at our balsamic that we reduced.
3:45
but I'm going to have to wash my hands.
3:47
All right, so I went ahead and did these
3:50
and like I said, this is so simple
3:52
and you know, you can definitely swap your fruits around
3:57
for the ones that you really, really like.
4:01
So start with a watermelon
4:11
and the big ones I just kind of fold over like that
4:17
and then a piece of fresh mozzarella
4:25
and then a strawberry.
4:32
So what kind of fruits do you think y'all would like?
4:36
- [Eddie] Cantaloupe would be good with-
4:38
- Cantaloupe, yes, and honeydew would be delicious,
4:53
All right, another piece of basil.
5:09
No, I think I did right.
5:15
Listen to Lulu snoring.
5:25
So there you go, real easy.
5:28
Now you don't want to, you don't want to dress these
5:35
until you're ready to eat.
5:37
So this is the way I would serve them.
5:41
Kind of something like that with some crackers.
5:58
And like I said, just
6:03
you would have your balsamic vinegar,
6:06
vinegar reduction on your tray so
6:14
those that didn't want it would not have to use it.
6:20
Look how thick this is.
6:54
That is so, so thick, Theresa.
6:59
And I don't think we reduced it by half, maybe we did.
7:02
- [Theresa] It didn't look like it,
7:03
but I don't think you have
7:04
to reduce it as long as you think you do.
7:05
- Mm hmm, I don't think so either.
7:14
So late in the afternoon if you
7:17
and your friends are sitting around having a glass of wine,
7:24
little hors d'oeuvres to
7:26
go along with your glass of wine.
7:37
It's like eating a fruit salad on a stick.
7:53
Y'all enjoy and like I said,
7:56
put it together any way you wanna do it
8:00
because it's all about your tongue.
