Can't believe it's another Father's Day has come up on us.
0:09
And I was telling somebody the other day that it's been,
0:18
six, all right, I'm gonna have
0:22
to do some ciphering here, y'all.
0:25
Math was my strong suit.
0:29
All right, let's see, it's been,
0:36
it has been 59 years since I saw my father.
0:43
My father passed away when he was just 40 years old,
0:49
and my daddy was my hero.
0:52
You know, there's something about a girl
0:54
and her father, as long as her father is alive,
0:59
or her daddy is alive,
1:02
she knows that nobody can ever hurt her,
1:06
that her daddy is there to protect her.
1:10
And he was there to protect my mother and my brother,
1:20
enough good things about a good daddy.
1:26
You know, a lot of people can be a father,
1:31
but it takes a special, special man to be a daddy.
1:43
So, if you have your daddy,
1:46
make sure you tell him that you love him.
1:49
If you still have the daddy of your children,
1:53
be sure and thank him for fathering your precious children
1:59
and make his day really, really special.
2:04
My father actually passed away
2:07
on Father's Day weekend, June the 17th, 1966.
2:13
And I had bought daddy a white shirt
2:18
that was kinda like a satin feeling.
2:21
I don't know what the fabric was,
2:23
but a lot of men were loving those shirts
2:26
because they felt so good on their skin.
2:30
So I buried my daddy and my Father's Day gift to him.
2:37
And after 59 years, daddy, I still miss you,
2:43
and I can hear your laugh and your smile.
2:48
He had the biggest smile, big blue eyes,
2:51
and people just loved him.
2:53
He was such a good, kind man,
2:56
but very protective over his family.
3:00
So go out and kiss your daddies.
3:05
Guys, kiss your daddies.
3:09
My children lost their father.
3:12
I think it'll be two years now, I can't remember.
3:17
But they never got too big to not kiss their daddy.
3:22
They always hugged and kissed their daddy on the cheek.
3:26
And that's the one thing
3:29
that I thank my children's father for.
3:31
He let my children know it was all right
3:35
for a man to show his love.
3:41
So, y'all have a happy Father's Day.
3:45
Put your arms around the ones that you have
3:48
and the ones that are like me and don't have 'em anymore,
3:52
try to pull up the good memories.
3:54
Happy Father's Day, and God bless
3:57
to all you wonderful daddies out there.
