well hey friends welcome to what's
0:02
cooking with Paula Deen and I am so
0:05
happy to announce that my new collection
0:08
has come out with my pots my pans my
0:11
dishes and so many things that
0:15
accessorize your your collection and
0:19
it's called the river band collection
0:22
and y'all have heard me talk about river
0:25
band and what an influence it played in
0:27
my life growing up I slept in a chest of
0:32
drawers when I came home from the
0:35
hospital and I believe it was at River
0:38
Bend that this took place the family
0:41
lived in my grandmother in grandfather's
0:44
family business which was the hotel the
0:47
restaurant the skating rink the swimming
0:49
pool and it was like the big place in
0:54
Albany to come to I think we had the
0:58
only swimming pool in Albany at the time
1:01
so I made so many friends during the
1:05
summer every weekend all the church
1:07
buses would come out and the kids would
1:10
unload from that bus and I would be
1:13
standing right there to hug him and tell
1:17
him to come on let's get to swimming I
1:19
had lots and lots of playmate mates
1:23
every weekend and you know it's just
1:26
funny I spent the first 10 years of my
1:31
life at River Bend and and those are
1:34
your very years that that you're being
1:39
molded I think into the person that
1:41
you're going to become and when Michael
1:46
and I was built in the house that we
1:48
live in now
1:50
Gordon was down we were shooting my show
1:52
Gordon Elliot who's my producer had
1:56
flown down we were shooting best dishes
1:59
and I said Gordon come on over to the
2:03
house with me I want to show you the
2:05
progress that's happened since you last
2:07
saw it and so we walked the whole
2:10
property and he said
2:14
do you realize what you've done here and
2:18
I said no no what have I done he said
2:22
you have recreated River Bend in your
2:26
home in this property right here and I
2:30
looked at him and I said Gordon my
2:33
goodness I have subconsciously done just
2:38
that not giving it any thought I have
2:43
reproduced River Bend here so those
2:47
formative years really set me on my path
2:53
and especially the cooking that went on
2:57
in the kitchen that I would watch my
3:00
grandmother and Sam do mama was a
3:03
waitress and a Peggy was a lifeguard
3:06
like I said it was a it was a whole
3:08
family affair but the new river bein
3:12
collection certainly reminds me of those
3:16
10 years it's just happy stuff to me
3:20
just happy stuff and I'm so excited to
3:25
tell y'all it's finally out

5:21

5:42
so supportive thank you thank you dear
5:45
bye bye all right so here's Cheryl's
5:48
question I just want to thank you from
5:51
the bottom of my heart for your airfryer
5:54
cookbook that you signed for me on
5:56
August the 12th when you were at Yvonne
5:59
this is the first time that I have ever
6:01
gotten
6:02
anything from anybody and since it's
6:05
more than special I will treasure it
6:08
forever it just means the world to me
6:10
and I hold it very precious to my heart
6:13
thank you again so much finally Cheryl
6:16
I'm so glad and I know this is maybe the
6:19
second thing that I've gotten from you
6:22
Cheryl one time you asked why was it
6:25
taking so long for the airfryer to come
6:28
back well that's because it totally sold
6:31
out and it just takes too
6:34
to get more more made but I am so happy
6:39
that you're happy with your airfryer you
6:42
know I'm I know y'all have heard me talk
6:43
about it a lot out there but it truly
6:45
can change your life okay oh yay hello
6:52
Cheryl you called me back
6:54
I'm just oh good well I'm sitting here
7:01
doing my podcast and of course I called
7:04
you up and you didn't answer but I'm
7:08
still in the middle of the podcast so
7:10
this is wonderful great timing thanks so
7:14
much for calling me right back and I
7:17
just I just read your well there was
7:20
really no question it's you were
7:21
thanking me for signing my new airfryer
7:25
cookbook to you which I hope is a long
7:47
long time honey well listen people have
7:51
been doing you right if that's the first
7:53
thing you've ever been given
7:54
oh so I hope you love it I hope you love
7:59
it
8:11
yeah well that's good well you know one
8:18
thing about Yvonne if there's a little
8:20
defect all you have to do is send it
8:23
back and they will see that you you've
8:25
got one that's completely perfect and so
8:30
I'm glad you notice that because what
8:33
makes mine so different you know the
8:35
first time I saw an air fryer I thought
8:36
oh gosh you know I really like this idea
8:39
but how can we take this idea and
8:41
improve it so we did that in a couple of
8:45
ways our bottom
8:47
is an aluminium a shiny aluminum so that
8:51
creates a higher heat and faster so it
8:55
must it must have been a thermostat
8:58
problem but no no that that's not right
9:08
that is not right not unless they were
9:11
the size of a shark well we went when
9:19
did you um I am sick every time school
9:23
starts my husband and I get sick not
9:27
even have any not even having
9:29
school-aged children living in our house
9:31
it's like the air is permeated with all
9:34
these children you know being thrown
9:36
back together so every time I go to
9:38
laugh I get choked and start having a
9:40
coughing spell but when did you return
9:45
it okay you should you should yeah I'm
9:55
telling you it can change your life it's
9:57
that that air fryer can do anything that
10:00
your microwave your stove your oven your
10:03
top of your stove it can do on
10:05
everything everything you know I'm not
10:16
saying a lot I'm not saying a lot my
10:19
daughter-in-law is using a lot of
10:21
coconut oil so so you can use any flavor
10:25
you want it doesn't necessarily have to
10:27
be olive oil but like if I'm doing
10:31
chicken you know I I spray it pretty
10:34
good
10:34
and then when it's halfway done I turn
10:37
it over and I do spray the other side
10:39
because it will get crispy or if you're
10:42
doing fish anything like that you want
10:45
to now I probably go heavier when I'm
10:50
making french fries yeah but still even
10:56
even when you say you're spraying a good
10:59
bit
10:59
it's hardly you need
11:01
you know when it's all said and done
11:04
it's hardly anything it's terrible it's
11:12
terrible and the more I talk the worse
11:15
it gets
11:16
well Cheryl I so appreciate your note
11:20
honey and I'll be with you well let let
11:25
me know when your airfryer gets back to
11:29
you but I want to know and like said the
11:33
folks at Yvonne they are they are so
11:36
good and they want you satisfied and
11:39
happy so they don't take they'll take
11:43
good care of you sometimes he's just
11:46
Thank You Cheryl have a blessed one to
11:50
you bye-bye thank y'all for being with
11:54
me today I did get to a few questions
11:56
but as I was telling Cheryl our last
11:59
question question e or whatever that
12:05
I've gotten it's September and I've
12:07
gotten the back-to-school cruds and the
12:11
more I talk the more I wanna call so but
12:14
thank y'all for bearing with me today
12:15
you know I love you and I always send
12:18
you best dishes along with that love so
12:21
I'll see y'all next week the space that
12:25
you live in really affects the way you
12:27
feel so my first recommendation is start
