Last time that we were all together,
0:02
y'all at What's Cooking with Paulyine,
0:05
the whole conversation was about Bobby's
0:07
cauliflower ear that he had developed
0:09
doing jiujitsu
0:12
and it they took the stitches out. They
0:14
took the thing out. All he It looks
0:16
great, Bobby. 100% healed. Body heals
0:19
itself. It looks great. Yeah. Feels
0:22
great. Uh and I got me some nice fancy
0:24
head gear now to preserve my ears. Did
0:27
everybody laugh at you? every one of
0:29
them. Oh, they did.
0:32
Well, that's all right. You tell them
0:34
that uh they can walk around with their
0:35
cauliflower ears. You gonna have pretty
0:37
ears. So, speaking of uh people's body
0:40
parts and hurting, you recently had knee
0:43
surgery. How you feeling? Yes, I did,
0:44
y'all. So, about a week and a half ago,
0:47
y'all, I had my second knee surgery. Uh
0:50
two months ago, I had my left knee done,
0:53
Bobby. In three days, I was I was great.
0:56
Yeah. Uh, but this one I don't know if
0:59
the damage was more. I know this one was
1:02
the oldest injury, but um, you know, I
1:06
tore both meniscuses that one that
1:08
Dancing with the Stars. So, y'all be
1:10
careful how you dance.
1:13
But, you know, since this happened, you
1:15
know, when the doctor diagnosed it, I
1:18
had never heard of a meniscus.
1:20
I didn't know what it was. Well,
1:24
everybody I talk to has torn meniscuses.
1:30
Everybody. Well, not everybody. Well, it
1:32
seems like everybody I know everybody my
1:35
age has a torn has a torn minis. I think
1:38
it's something that you can do without
1:40
really knowing that you do. Oh, you
1:41
don't you you don't realize that you've
1:43
done it. But, uh, like I said, I had
1:45
surgery about a week and a half ago, and
1:48
the doctor told me, I went in to see him
1:50
before it was time for me to see him.
1:52
And he said, "Paul, I was so surprised
1:54
that you healed in three days on this
1:56
one." He said, "That's really not
1:58
normal." He said, "What you're
2:00
experiencing now is normal, but I'm so
2:02
sorry to hear that. Before you know it,
2:03
you'll, you know, I would have the
2:04
surgery again in a second." U, but it's
2:07
that therapy that really determines how
2:11
quickly you heal. So, I've been doing my
2:14
therapy things, you know, pretty
2:16
religiously, keeping it ice. You got to
2:18
start that right away, too. So, that's
2:19
my that's my body parts issue today,
2:22
y'all. Well, are you are you able to are
2:24
you able to stand and cook
2:27
quickly? It's got to be a quick meal.
2:30
So, enough about our body parts and our
2:32
ailments. Let's take a quick break
2:34
because there's something I want to talk
2:35
to you about that I'm so excited about.
2:38
Really? Yes. Really? More surgery. Do
2:41
you ever get tired of making fun of your
2:42
mama? Never.

3:26
That's smith &oble.com/paula
3:30
or call 1-8006593300.
3:35
That's 1 800659-3300.
3:40
So this is what I want to talk to you
3:42
about, son, because we're now entering
3:44
my favorite time of the year. You know,
3:47
cuz like after school starts, before you
3:50
know it, it's Halloween, it's
3:52
Thanksgiving, and it's Christmas. And to
3:54
me, that all means family. Uh
3:59
I'll have a lot of family in my kitchen
4:02
for the next few months, and I just love
4:04
it and adore it. Me, too. Uh when that
4:07
happens, and um I'm just getting real,
4:11
real excited. Well, it's my favorite
4:13
time of year because um I like to do
4:15
lots of uh soups and chilies and crockot
4:20
cooking and stuff like that. This is
4:21
really that time of year that you that
4:23
you do that. You know, summertime is
4:25
wonderful and and I love summertime. Did
4:27
I give you one of my multi cookers? Um,
4:32
no. I have so much stuff. If I did, you
4:35
would certainly remember it because it
4:38
is the most incredible. It's called a
4:40
multi cooker and it has the ability to
4:44
be a slow cooker, a stove cooker, and an
4:47
oven cooker and even a steamer. I would
4:50
remember that. I don't have you would
4:51
remember it. Well, I'll see that I give
4:53
you one because making your soups, it's
4:56
incredible for making soups. And I'm
5:00
like you. I can't hardly wait to make
5:02
that pot of vegetable beef soup that I
5:04
love so much.
5:06
But mine recipe is only one I like.
5:10
Well,
5:12
imagine that. I know you are Paulyine.
5:15
So I don't I don't and I don't mean to
5:17
be snoody like that but uh I just love
5:20
mine cuz you know I use short ribs to
5:23
make my stew with my uh my uh soup with
5:28
and it's just incredible. It makes all
5:30
the difference in the world than using
5:32
like those chunks of uh stew meat.
5:36
They've got no flavor in it. You got to
5:37
use those short ribs with all that mara
5:41
and a little bit of fat. Oh, it's so
5:44
good. Well, you need to come to my house
5:46
and eat some of what my vegetarian wife
5:48
cooks cuz there ain't no short ribs and
5:50
there ain't no mara and there ain't no
5:52
none of that. There ain't no fat. There
5:54
ain't no grease. There ain't none of
5:55
that deliciousness. You know what? You'd
5:58
be surprised. It's really good because
6:00
during the fall you get great squash.
6:03
You know, there's different um
6:05
vegetables that you get during the fall.
6:06
And Claudia makes um some of just the
6:10
best butternut squash soup. We will.
6:13
Yes, absolutely. Or we'll roast
6:15
butternut squash in the oven, which is
6:17
great as well. So, anyhow, just going
6:19
back to the whole fall uh thing. I mean,
6:22
it's got my mouth watering thinking
6:24
about cloud making that soup. So, you
6:25
know, swallowing and and I'm fortunate
6:28
to have a great cast iron skillet. I
6:30
have a slow cooker, a good stock pot,
6:32
and some different things. But you have
6:34
some new cookware out that I don't have
6:36
yet. I do, Bobby. That I won't cuz I've
6:39
seen it, but I don't have it. Well, I'm
6:41
so proud of it. Uh Meyer and I work
6:45
together just to produce the most
6:48
beautiful
6:50
uh cookware and table, you know, plates
6:55
and cups and saucers. And they all just
6:59
um you know, you can mix and match them
7:01
any way. And it's a rooster. The plates
7:04
are a rooster pattern. A be it's got a
7:06
beautiful blue rooster on it. You know,
7:09
I'm I'm nuts about any kind of fowl. Uh
7:13
any kind of birds. I just love birds.
7:16
And I've realized that, you know, I got
7:18
that from Grandmother Paul. She had a
7:20
minor bird and she used to have
7:22
parakeetses that would talk uh I mean
7:25
talk. Well, I remember Billy, it was a
7:28
blue parakeet, and he would say, and
7:32
somehow that bird knew what time it was.
7:34
He'd say, "It's time to get Trina. Time
7:37
to get Trina." And of course, Ain't
7:39
Trina was my aunt. It was Billy told
7:42
them when it was time to go pick up
7:43
Trina from school. I mean, I heard the
7:45
bird Bobby. I heard that bird talking
7:48
just like
7:51
this. If But grandma spent so much time
7:53
with her birds. Um,
7:57
and she she would teach him how to talk
8:00
that way. His name was Billy. I'll never
8:02
forget him. Well, I can't wait to get my
8:04
hands on some of that cookware. So,
8:05
anyway, back to the pots and pans and
8:07
the dinner wear. Uh, you know, it's just
8:09
something that I love that that that's
8:12
featured on on this dinner wear. I think
8:15
it's just be birds. Yes. Chickens,
8:18
roosters. Yes. I just love them. And uh
8:22
the pots and pans are beautiful. What
8:25
color are they? They're be Well, they
8:26
come in several different colors. So,
8:29
whatever your kitchen is, you know, we
8:31
can get it in that color. And guess what
8:33
the name of it is? What is it? The name
8:36
of it is rubber band. No, it's not. Yes,
8:39
it is. Rubber band. Rubber band
8:42
where I grew up. You know what? I'm
8:44
nostalgic and I often go back to uh our
8:48
hometown and last time I was there I
8:50
went out there and uh and parked and got
8:53
out and walked around at Riverbin where
8:56
there's nothing there. There's nothing
8:57
there but that river is still there.
9:00
That big uh sign is still there over the
9:02
highway. Well, it it's actually uh it's
9:05
actually a concrete
9:08
um archway archway, you know, that says
9:11
uh Mitchell County on one side and Dy
9:13
County on the other. Um yeah, and Bob
9:17
Bobby uh Bobb's been known to make fun
9:21
of me.
9:24
All right. Now, I'm I'm kind of
9:25
nostalgic and I find myself whenever I
9:27
go back to our hometown, I I I kind of
9:30
go from place to place and look at
9:32
things that are special to our family.
9:33
And I went out to Riverbend and uh I saw
9:37
the big archway that goes over the road
9:40
there and of course the separating the
9:42
counties, the gas station, the
9:43
restaurant. None of that stuff is there
9:45
anymore, but it's still a beautiful
9:46
piece of land. Your mama lived in the
9:48
back of a gas station, in the back of a
9:51
service station. I am not surprised.
9:55
So, but anyhow, it's still beautiful
9:57
land. And I went out there and I kind of
9:59
I parked and I walked around and I
10:00
imagined what it must have uh been like
10:03
then when you were a little kid. It it
10:04
was the place to go. I mean, it was the
10:08
the place to go. There was not a lot of
10:10
places that offered a swimming pool and
10:12
skating. So, yeah. I mean, it was a
10:15
really hub son of activity. And there is
10:18
a uh obviously there's there's a
10:20
beautiful river there and it does sit on
10:21
a bend in the river and it's not far
10:23
from Radium Springs and it's just this
10:25
gorge gorgeous area but um you know a
10:28
lot of that stuff is no longer there.
10:29
The natural stuff is but the buildings
10:31
are no longer there and the history for
10:33
you is no longer there but you kind of
10:35
with this cookware have brought
10:37
Riverbend back to life I think. Right.
10:40
Yes. Yes. you know, those memories can
10:43
uh even though the buildings are gone,
10:48
the memories will never leave me. You
10:50
know, I can count on my memories. And uh
10:54
when I talk with folks,
10:57
uh I love talking about their memories,
11:00
you know, we all we all have them. We
11:03
all have them. And um if we're lucky. If
11:07
we're lucky. Yes.
11:09
Yes. if we're lucky. All right, Mom. So,
11:11
where can people find the cookware? I
11:13
know that right now, Bobby, if they're
11:15
near a stage store, they can find it
11:18
there. And of course, you can always uh
11:20
go to paulyine.com and find more
11:22
information. Find out if it's a store
11:24
near you. Beautiful. But right now,
11:26
stage store, y'all get cranked up for
11:28
the holidays cuz guess what time it is?
11:31
Time to grab the family and get in the
11:34
kitchen and have fun with each other and
11:36
make more memories. Y'all have a great
11:40
week and I will see you next week. Bye
11:44
everybody.
