hey young I want to start out by
0:02
thanking y'all you know we're so sweet I
0:08
ask y'all I sent y'all out questions to
0:12
tell me what y'all would like to see me
0:14
cook or what would you like to talk
0:15
about
0:16
and y'all responded and we sent those
0:19
messages out through Paula Deen family
0:22
kitchen and Paula Deen calm and boy hi
0:26
to your good soldiers y'all responded
0:30
like crazy so instead of cooking today
0:32
I'm just gonna try to answer just some
0:35
we got so many but I'm gonna take a
0:37
handful and I'm gonna answer them today
0:40
and then I'll probably have to do it
0:43
again and look at here at me all I'm
0:45
sitting behind the best like I'm smart
0:47
like I'm the president well I'm not the
0:51
president Oh
0:54
but so let's shoot Theresa what's our
0:56
first question I have gotten that
1:03
question so many times who has been my
1:05
big inspiration in life well it depends
1:08
on what part of my life you're talking
1:10
about my grandmother Paul certainly she
1:15
paved the way for Who I am as far as how
1:19
I make my living
1:21
you know she taught me everything that
1:22
she knew in the kitchen and she was
1:25
really she was a gourmet cook but I just
1:28
didn't know it when she was serving us
1:29
rabbit and oh my gosh what I'll do in
1:34
turtle soup and fish roe I didn't know
1:39
because were really and rabbit oh my
1:42
goodness I didn't know she was feeling
1:44
us very upscale he liked to me it's just
1:49
grandma's ghetto country food but I have
1:53
to say that my mother and daddy and I
2:00
have to have to say really my daddy
2:05
I had more I got more of my daddy's
2:10
personality he I never saw him without a
2:12
smile until he he got sick and it seems
2:18
so strange to not see that big ol pearly
2:21
smile on his face and he was a jokester
2:24
he would and everybody loved him I mean
2:26
he was just and he taught me things in
2:30
life and this is a few of the things I
2:32
remember him saying Paula I know that
2:35
you think your mama and I are very dumb
2:39
but in a few years you're gonna wake up
2:41
one morning and look at us and say how
2:45
in the hell did that get so smart so
2:47
quick I remember that like at this
2:51
yesterday and I remember my mother
2:54
instilling in me if you don't have
2:57
enough food to share then don't eat it
3:00
in front of others let's see what else
3:04
my daddy said he said Paul an cuz I was
3:09
a teenager having fun I'm not kidding I
3:11
was every whichaway I could go he said
3:16
Paul and I don't want you to go out and
3:18
do things and think that there's nobody
3:20
watching that nobody sees it nobody
3:23
knows because somewhere there is
3:27
somebody in a distance that has seen you
3:30
and it will come back to roost I've
3:35
never forgotten that I think that one of
3:43
the things that daddy taught me was to
3:45
be kind to people
3:51
that was just very important to you and
3:54
I remember one day him telling me Paul
3:58
an and I was in school and I had so many
4:01
friends and I guess I was yakking about
4:03
something I was probably 17 years old
4:06
and daddy said Paula Paul and I want you
4:13
to treat everybody like you want to be
4:18
treated because when it comes down to it
4:21
you're no better than the next guy y'all
4:25
are all on equal footing and you treat
4:28
them kindly so I have to say my mother
4:33
my mother and daddy they got me going I
4:36
didn't have him a whole long time they
4:38
got me going you know somebody wants to
4:49
know do we have any names on these
4:51
questions this is a man Amanda yes I'd
4:58
love to know who I'm talking to so
5:00
Amanda do have what was the first dish I
5:03
made that really stood out to me gosh I
5:08
don't remember I've been asked that
5:10
question before and I think maybe the
5:13
first meal I ever made was spaghetti
5:16
don't you think most Brides start with
5:18
spaghetti I don't remember honey that
5:22
has been 53 years
5:30
well maybe 5450 can't I can't remember I
5:34
got married when I was 18 don't ever do
5:36
that y'all don't ever ever ever Elmo
5:40
oh gosh Tracy wants to know what my
5:52
favorite Easter Easter traditions are
5:56
with my family and that's definitely I
5:59
always have the whole entire family over
6:03
for either lunch or you see an early
6:07
dinner like 4 o'clock and then all the
6:11
kids come in and we put their Easter
6:13
baskets down on the floor well we have
6:15
them sitting up there on that banquette
6:17
and then all the kids go up and get
6:19
their Easter basket with their it's got
6:21
their name tag on it and they just tear
6:25
into them and then I remember when Jack
6:29
Jack's 13 now but when he was like two
6:33
or two-and-a-half years old the first
6:38
Easter it was the only grandchild that
6:40
we had and I filled all these eggs with
6:44
money you know those plastic cakes and
6:48
when it was over
6:50
Jack had collected a hundred and
6:52
sixty-seven dollars it is Easter eggs so
6:57
I don't I don't do that much anymore but
7:00
I do do a golden egg and I'll slip a
7:05
five in some of the eggs but we always
7:08
have have so much fun doing those Easter
7:11
egg hunts here here on our land here at
7:15
the house because we got some good
7:17
hiding places Tracy what is my favorite
7:28
quick dinner when I'm short of time uh
7:30
who's asking man
7:37
okay so maybe it's dusty you know I
7:44
think one of my favorite quick meals and
7:47
this is this was always a favorite of my
7:49
son's when they were growing up I take a
7:52
head of cabbage cut it up and put it in
7:55
a skillet and fry it and then I would go
7:57
to my pantry and get out a can of corned
7:59
beef and I'm gonna make that on one of
8:03
the little cooking YouTube videos
8:06
because you you can't imagine just how
8:09
good that is
8:10
and high nourishing oh and with some
8:12
mashed potatoes in lace Haute cakes
8:14
honey but that's not too quick but the
8:16
Columbian cabbage is real quick
8:18
Oh Monica what is my favorite comfort
8:27
food honey you know it's Taylor son you
8:30
know it's potatoes
8:32
I never met a potato that I didn't love
8:38
[Music]
8:42
one day Michael asked me y'all if if you
8:49
were on a deserted island if you were
8:51
going to a deserted island and you
8:53
wasn't gonna be able to get back home
8:55
what would you carry with you and I
8:58
seemed you know I would carry a potato
9:00
with me and I said why what would you
9:02
carry and he looked at me he said well
9:06
you dummy how to carried my boat so I
9:09
can get back home he's funny like that
9:16
so that's all the time I've got to
9:18
answer the questions today but we'll
9:20
continue this if y'all want to it's a
