yo my teammates are killing me
0:06
everybody's patience might be getting
0:08
short until recent Eddie there they look
0:12
like those ready have a catfight Barney
0:17
well it was funny yellow playing but it
0:19
was still funny y'all made me laugh so
0:22
in 1989 when I started the bag lady
0:29
everyday I made a special dessert that
0:33
appeared to be everybody's favorite and
0:36
that was gooey butter cakes well I made
0:39
those gooey butter cake every day we
0:41
started on June the 19th I made vanilla
0:45
gooey butter cakes every day and when
0:48
October the 1st came around I said y'all
0:53
hear those funny noises it's not anybody
0:56
breaking wind it's it's Teresa over here
1:01
using a turkey baster make in those
1:03
sounds I'm beat I'm pregnant I'll cut
1:07
them for the next one well it sounds
1:11
like you'll be doing something else
1:12
so anyway when October came around y'all
1:15
I said if I don't change these gooey
1:18
butter cakes up I'm gonna scream so it
1:22
was October it was time to start cooking
1:25
with pumpkins so I formulated it to make
1:29
the pumpkins butter cake and I promise
1:32
you that has been one of the country's
1:34
babies break sweet day - yeah sweet
1:37
potato oh my gosh
1:38
it's so good so I'm gonna show y'all how
1:40
I made that very first gooey butter cake
1:43
on June the 19th 1989 and we're gonna
1:47
start with just a yellow cake mix
1:52
or white you've got white that's fine
1:55
alright I'm going to add 1 egg and 1
2:01
stick of milky splutter and this is
2:07
gonna be the base now I just take my
2:14
mixer and it's gonna be real but I
2:19
just take my mixer and I mix it the best
2:24
I can to it kind of all gets moistened
2:29
just like this
2:31
oh yeah it's doing good so over the
2:40
years I swear I bet between me and my
2:47
team over the years have probably
2:51
formulated I bet 50 or 75 different ways
2:56
to make gooey butter cake I am not
2:58
kidding you because we get tired of
3:01
making the same old warning all right
3:06
now it's just swinging that dough out of
3:07
there Oh cuz we get tired and we want to
3:12
do something new so we had fun and I'm
3:15
hoping that you have fun with it too
3:17
this is just the very face stick but you
3:20
know what after all these years it might
3:23
still be my favorite one I'm gonna spray
3:26
that just a little bit just ensure but
3:28
this is not so much buttering I probably
3:31
won't have to worry about it sticking
3:35
but just out of habit
3:39
all right something take my hands and
3:41
just spread this out is evenly as I can
3:45
and up the sides a little bit oh my gosh
3:53
does this bring back Oh out of memories
3:59
that bag lady it was a phenomenal little
4:04
business it gave my sons and myself
4:12
wings which was just wonderful
4:17
only in America all right so I got my
4:21
base spread out right right nice and
4:25
easy easy even just like that
4:30
all right so now as we'll make the
4:32
custard Park and I'm gonna start with an
4:37
8 ounce package of cream cheese and
4:41
let's see that's my melted butter so I
4:45
think I'm just gonna whip this purse
4:51
you get kind of fluffy come on swingin
4:56
bring cheese all over the place all
5:00
right I'm gonna lower that so it'll just
5:02
barely missed it all right I'm gonna add
5:10
a teaspoon of vanilla I'm gonna add two
5:15
eggs once in a while extent to which
5:22
gooey butter cake I'm making but once in
5:25
a while like the pumpkin gooey butter
5:28
take I'll add three eggs at this point
5:30
but only two is is really necessary
5:36
all right now I'm gonna add two cups of
5:39
powdered sugar and that's where we gonna
5:43
get our stone
5:55
all right number one slowly add that
5:58
butter cuz I know I know you probably
6:50
weighed all of 128 fine yeah big use a
6:54
mouse I wouldn't mean to come out in
6:56
public class her know everybody loves it
7:02
and this has become our signature and
7:06
people know when they come into Paula
7:09
Deen family kitchen or or the lady in
7:12
sons or Creek house they know that
7:15
they're gonna be all first do we better
7:17
catch all right so I'm just don't beat
7:21
that a little bit more
7:24
to get the long side of it
7:26
[Applause]
7:34
[Applause]
7:47
and you notice I didn't mean wash my
7:50
bowl or the beaters because it's all
7:54
going in the same pot so you know you
7:57
have to stop and watch alright I am
8:01
going to do
8:27
[Music]
8:29
oh I just love nuts and smashed up you
9:07
can see demand but you don't have to
9:12
have them it's all about what you like
9:17
what's your tongue like okay Michael
9:24
I'm putting nuts silly buoys I guess
9:30
that's why we get along we both like
9:33
nuts all right so I'm gonna pour this on
9:42
I don't know y'all heard him but he said
9:48
that was one reason for his strong
9:51
attraction to me was he liked newest
9:58
go back to cooking your meat he's
10:03
cooking up a Boston but on his grill out
10:10
there all right
10:12
Michael's favorite gooey butter cake I
10:14
don't know if I've ever talked about
10:16
this but his favorite is banana doing
10:19
butter cake I make it just like this I'm
10:22
a mash up you know how big the bananas
10:25
are a couple of bananas just squish it
10:28
up you know put it in the feeling here
10:32
is the most important part now about
10:34
this recipe it's super simple you can't
10:36
mess it up until you go to cook it and I
10:42
know the name of this is gooey butter
10:44
cake but it's really not a cake when
10:48
you're baking a cake you want it to be
10:51
done when you stick up a toothpick in
10:54
the center you want it to come out clean
10:56
well this is not Oh
10:59
tell my grandchildren and Michelle are
11:03
doing they boys come over you can get
11:06
them in can you get the door shut boy I
11:14
love y'all so much
11:20
look at immunity I could kiss y'all
11:27
heads off
11:29
so we still honoring the quarantine
11:32
around here y'all they're gonna stay six
11:38
feet away from each other trying that
11:40
may be hard for a but Michelle
11:45
this wanting to make sure that her daddy
11:47
and I stay safe and we're not exposed to
11:50
anything so all right so back to the
11:53
cooking of this you really don't have to
11:57
watch it because you know your oven
12:00
unless you've calibrated your oven by
12:03
putting up the monitor in there and set
12:05
it to 350 and then checking your
12:09
thermometer to see where where it
12:11
measures up to but anyway we're gonna
12:18
cook this for 40 to 50 minutes but when
12:23
you at the end of 40 minutes you want to
12:27
do your pan like this and you want it to
12:30
jiggle just a little bit there in the
12:32
center so don't overcook it because you
12:36
want the G so okay 40 minutes actually
12:42
I'm gonna look at it 35
12:48
I'm sorry I couldn't wait for y'all I
12:52
had to go ahead and start tasting it I
12:55
love a good butter cake mmm
13:00
I'll cook this for 40 minutes y'all mmm
13:07
oh I meant Dania if you don't want to
13:14
fool with making it from scratch you can
13:18
find these at where Paula Deen Stowell
13:22
Paula Deen calm if you want a little
13:26
help from your friends mmm and if you
13:33
come up with a different one let me know
13:39
I'm nuts my goose
