0:00
hey friends right now I'm not gonna do
0:03
any recipes I just want to talk to y'all
0:08
you know my son Bobby said call me one
0:12
day and said mama why are you not doing
0:14
cooking videos on your YouTube channel
0:19
and that's a good question son I don't
0:22
know so I took his advice and I thought
0:28
well I don't know if anybody will be
0:30
interested or not well y'all have just
0:36
blown me away with the response to those
0:40
little videos that I'm doing for YouTube
0:44
it's been incredible so I want to thank
0:48
y'all so much for being a part of these
0:53
and the reason I know it's it's been so
0:58
well accepted is because y'all contact
1:00
me y'all y'all text me or just some way
1:05
but some people actually get in touch
1:09
with me through the mail and that just
1:14
makes me so very happy that I'm able to
1:19
come in and be with y'all during this
1:21
time that you know we're all kind of
1:23
stuck at home I know Georgia restaurants
1:28
were given permission to open on Monday
1:33
this coming Monday here but I'm not I
1:36
think it's just a little too early I
1:38
don't want to take any chances with
1:41
anybody's help health so I'm not going
1:45
to open back up yet but anyway Eddie
1:48
brought me in brought in the mail and
1:51
handed me a pretty card a beautiful card
1:56
of a hummingbird I love hummingbird
1:57
birds and this was from one of my
2:02
neighbors out here on Wilmington Island
2:05
and she just said I recently discovered
2:09
your quarantine cooking videos on
2:12
YouTube and I just want to thank you for
2:14
sharing your time with us and the whole
2:18
community and the country she knows it's
2:23
just gonna love it so I thought how
2:25
sweet I sweet to take time to go buy a
2:28
card and to mail it to me now this next
2:33
one y'all this one just took my heart
2:36
out and squeezed it this is from Tucker
2:40
Bovard Bo var D from West Chester
2:44
Pennsylvania it's this young boy that's
2:48
14 years old and I mean look at this
2:53
look at this that precious child tells
2:58
me that he just wanted to write and let
3:01
me know how much he loves some videos
3:06
and he said I've been watching you for
3:08
as long as I can remember that he and
3:11
his grandmother just loved making the
3:13
recipes in fact he said my grandma is
3:16
probably your biggest fan
3:18
she even has one of your kettles so this
3:23
is just so sweet Tucker
3:25
so sweet you're you and my oldest
3:29
grandson are about the same age and
3:33
Tucker goes on to tell me that that he
3:37
and his grandmother just made the peach
3:38
cobbler recipe and he said it's a best
3:42
peach cobbler I've ever eaten so he
3:47
listened to this you really make my days
3:51
happier when I am feeling down I just
3:55
turn on one of your videos so I wanted
3:58
to ask you a few questions what is your
4:01
favorite recipe that you have ever made
4:04
hmm Oh Tucker you can't ask the fat girl
4:08
that you know you know it's many of them
4:15
so many many many Tucker what is your
4:19
family your favorite family recipes oh
4:27
my goodness oh my goodness so so many
4:33
Bobby's goulash Jamie loves my fried
4:36
pork chops you know it's it's hard to
4:40
pinpoint - and my boys never wore a real
4:45
real picky they were good eaters and
4:47
your next question is what what is the
4:52
thing that you made with your green
4:55
what is it was your favorite thing that
4:57
you made with your grandmother well
4:59
that's so easy to answer Tucker because
5:02
that was my daddy's favorite meal in the
5:06
whole wide world and that dish was
5:09
chicken and dumplings and both my mother
5:13
and my grandmother would make them for
5:15
like daddy
5:16
and we lost daddy when he was just 40
5:20
years old so I never had the opportunity
5:24
to learn to make them while he was
5:27
living but I asked my grandmother after
5:30
he passed away I said please PLEASE
5:33
grandmama teach me how to make those
5:35
chicken and dumplings that my daddy
5:37
loved so much so definitely hands down
5:41
that was the recipe and he said thank
5:47
you so much for your time I really
5:49
appreciate it and feel free to write
5:51
back I'm not real good about picking up
5:56
pen and paper Tucker but just know I
5:58
love you and I love receiving your
6:01
handwritten letter and I'm sending you
6:05
love and best dishes honey from me to
6:08
you how sweet is that I love hearing
6:13
from young people and I've got a
6:16
question the other day from Kathy Swan
6:22
and she wants to know why with the old
6:26
wooden biscuit bowls never washed well I
6:31
don't know if y'all are familiar with
6:32
these wooden dough bowls that our
6:36
grandmothers would keep in their pie
6:38
safe and they would pull the draw up and
6:42
put their flour in their wooden bowl and
6:45
they would make their biscuits and when
6:49
they got through they just shut the
6:51
drawer back until the next time to make
6:53
biscuits and the only thing that I can
6:56
think of would be that washing that
7:04
wonderful own dough board that it would
7:08
pull the all's out of it and cause it to
7:11
crack so you won't you want those all's
7:15
to stay in that wood and you know if you
7:19
get it really messed up with the
7:21
buttermilk or milk you put too much and
7:24
it gets clapping in you can just take a
7:27
rag and just kind of wipe it out but
7:30
that's the best reason I can come up
7:32
with and to me that would make sense
7:34
Kathy thank you so much for the question
7:37
I think I may have to save do I have
7:40
time for one more
7:41
Eddy okay yay Eddy said I have time for
7:44
one more and this one this one comes
7:48
from Carol Bruce say it sounds like it
7:54
might be a little French so I don't know
7:58
all right okay she she writes me that
8:05
your YouTube quarantine videos have been
8:10
so enjoyable in such a refreshing
8:13
diversion for me I would like the
8:17
opportunity to express my thanks and
8:19
appreciation to her she was wanting my
8:24
email address so she could correspond
8:28
with me well I got this Carol and thank
8:31
you so much that just makes me so very
8:36
happy to know that in some small
8:40
insignificant way I'm helping make
8:45
quarantine time a little easier got time
8:49
for one more eighty yes one more one
8:52
lower and then I'll have to save the
8:54
others for another day all right let's
8:57
see what this one is
9:13
oh wow oh my gosh y'all this is a blast
9:23
from the past it's my first time reading
9:26
it and this is from darling Pat Olivo
9:36
kind of pen Olivo I think anyway she
9:41
goes on and says I graduated from AHS in
9:45

9:48

9:52

10:26

10:36
