Hey everybody out there on Facebook,
0:06
Twitter and
0:08
paulyadine.com. You know, these videos
0:10
have been all about the spices. Now, we
0:13
started with the potato soup and then
0:16
our entree was uh Lieutenant Sanders
0:20
oven roasted beef brisket. It was so
0:23
good. And it's only fitting that we
0:26
finish off now with something sweet to
0:28
round out our menu. And we have chosen
0:32
Sherry Jones Adams wonderful best ever
0:36
cookie from her grandma. Sherry, I love
0:39
the sound of this recipe. So, we're
0:42
going to start by using four cups of
0:45
allpurpose flour, a teaspoon of baking
0:48
powder, a teaspoon of soda, and a
0:51
teaspoon of salt. A pinch of allspice, a
0:56
pinch of nutmeg. All right. So, over
0:59
here in our next bowl, I've got two cups
1:02
of sugar, one cup of shortening. I'm
1:06
going to cream my shortening and my
1:09
sugar together. All right, I've got my
1:15
eggs. All right, that's nice and creamy.
1:19
Now, I'm going to add about a half a
1:22
teaspoon. All right. Now, we're going to
1:24
take our dry ingredients and we're just
1:26
going to beat those
1:34
in. Okie do. We've got two cups of
1:38
raisins. And listen to how Sherry
1:40
softens them and plumps them up, y'all.
1:43
She soaks them in coffee and a little
1:46
bit of water. Now, I've got one cup of
1:49
chopped pecans. Now, I don't want to put
1:52
the beater back on these because I don't
1:56
want my raisins and my nuts to get all
1:59
torn up. Now, I'm using a very small ice
2:02
cream scoop because it guarantees you
2:05
the same size cookie, which is important
2:08
because you want them to all bake
2:10
equally. All right, now it's time for
2:13
the magic. This is just coarse sugar and
2:16
chopped cinnamon pieces. This is so good
2:21
on buttered toast, y'all. Uh fix fix a
2:24
children a piece of toast in the morning
2:27
and grind some of this on it and they
2:30
will eat their breakfast. It's so
2:35
good. All right, so that gets it. Now
2:39
Sherry bakes these in a 400°ree oven for
2:42
12 minutes. So in they go. I can't wait
2:45
to have one. Oh my goodness, Sherry.
2:50
These look fabulous. This might be the
2:55
perfect cookie. Sherry, I want to thank
2:58
you so much. And I want to thank
3:00
Lieutenant Sanders and Candy for sending
3:03
in the recipes. In fact, I'd like to
3:05
thank all of y'all for sending in those
3:07
recipes. Until next time, y'all. Spice
3:11
up your life. You can go to
3:13
paulyine.com, order them there, or check
3:16
out your local
3:18
Walgreens. I bet they're
3:20
there. Best dishes, y'all.
