Aug 5, 2009
http://GetCookin.PaulaDeen.com - I just love cookin' with my Corrie. She is so sweet and is turning into a wonderful cook. I am so glad I can pass on the recipes that my mom and grandma taught me.

Hey y'all. It's Paula Dean at
0:02
paulyaine.com. So, I think it's time for
0:04
us to get
0:05
[Music]
0:10
cooking. My niece Carrie has just come
0:13
in. She and Brian. Now, I don't have
0:15
anything planned. Carrie, I mean, we
0:18
just going to have to dig. All right,
0:19
let's see. I got bacon. This is the
0:22
eggs. I've got this cold little
0:25
watermelon. And we get all these very
0:28
interesting mixes that people send us.
0:30
Our pantry is full of condiments and
0:32
mixes. That's great. So, this is a um
0:34
Main Street flour buttermilk pancake
0:36
mix. Just add water. That's perfect.

0:45
All right. You want to get me a
0:47
measuring cup, sweetie? With a wire
0:49
whisk, a rotary beater until most lumps
0:51
are gone.

1:04
Put it back in. This is going to yield
1:06
us
1:07
about about five
1:10
waffles. But just a couple of minutes.
1:13
All right, Brian, you might want to flip
1:15
over the waffle maker. You know, I know
1:18
everybody um has kind of nicknamed me
1:20
the butter queen, but this is really the
1:23
way I do it. You need butter in every
1:29
square. People say, "Paula, you're the
1:32
only girl I know that deep fries
1:35
bacon." But like, you would not believe
1:38
how fast I can cook for a crowd by deep
1:42
frying that bacon.
1:43
You know, it takes a long, long time to
1:46
stand up and pan fry enough
1:49
bacon. So, there we go. That is just
1:52
enough for
1:56
you. Golden rotisserie. Okay, let's use
2:00
this
2:01
one. So, what we're going to do is do
2:04
just like a quick little boneless pork
2:07
chop. Put it in the deep fryer.
2:11
No, I mean we could if you want to. We
2:14
could flour it and deep fry. You want to
2:16
do that?
2:19
We don't even have to season this curry
2:22
cuz it's already been seasoned. Okay.
2:24
Wham. Bam. Thank you, ma'am. I'm just
2:27
taking um the tenderloin that she cut
2:30
and just flouring it. And we're just
2:32
using allpurpose flour. She didn't have
2:34
to go rising. A good southern cook never
2:36
takes all of her diamonds off. Okay. So,
2:38
we're going to um put them in two
2:40
separate baskets. I know when they're
2:42
done, when they kind of want to float on
2:44
their own and they're nice and golden
2:45
brown.
2:48
Oh my goodness my gracious. Oh, those
2:53
look good.
2:57
I personally do scrambled feed more than
3:00
two or three
3:04
people. Now, I'm just adding some white
3:06
pepper in here. This is some um just
3:08
kosher salt. And sorry, I got little
3:11
bacon grease over here in mama's.
3:14
This is
3:16
mama's grease.
3:19
And you know, southerners, we always
3:21
save all of our bacon grease. And go the
3:24
eggs. You want to run out the garden and
3:26
get some fresh parsley. There's some
3:28
right outside the door. Okay.
3:33
Get a good sign.
3:37
Yes. And just let that melt. Oh, look
3:40
how good that looks. And I love to put
3:42
the lid back on and um Paul taught me
3:44
that and let the cheese melt on top, not
3:47
stir it
3:48
[Music]
3:53
in. So, just in a matter of a few
3:56
minutes, y'all, Carrie and I have
3:59
managed to raid the refrigerator and
4:01
make a wonderful breakfast. Look at
4:03
these waffles dripping with butter.
4:06
the fried bacon that was deep fried and
4:09
it just took a couple of minutes. I
4:11
realized I had the Smithville boneless
4:13
pork tenderloins in my cooler and they
4:16
were already seasoned. So, all I had to
4:18
do was slice those, flour them and CI
4:20
fried them up. Uh CI scrambled eggs with
4:25
cheese and fresh parsley she ran out to
4:27
the garden to get and um seedless
4:30
watermelon and tomatoes that were grown
4:33
in our garden.
4:37
just the way the economy is right now
4:38
and um a lot of people eating at home
4:40
and not trying to eat out and it's all
4:41
about the eye appeal that if you make it
4:44
presentable to your family and if it
4:45
looks good it's like you're eating
4:49
[Music]
4:54
out. This is so good. Thank y'all so
4:57
much for joining us this morning. We've
5:00
had a great time in the kitchen with
5:01
family and friends this morning. Car,
5:04
you're welcome back anytime, honey. I'll
5:06
be back probably tomorrow.
