0:00
- Hey y'all, I am fixing to make lemon trifle
0:07
that is gonna be so, so good.
0:11
And it's gonna be so easy.
0:13
It's one of those it's just really, really easy to do.
0:17
Now I've got two cups
0:18
of heavy whipping cream in this bowl,
0:23
and I'm gonna add a fourth of a cup of sugar
0:26
for each cup so it's gonna be nice and sweet.
0:38
into our white chocolate pudding.
0:42
And all you need is an instant
0:47
white chocolate pudding.
0:50
And like I said I'm gonna put about half
0:54
of our whipped cream 'cause I'm gonna save some
0:58
for the top of our trifle.
1:07
The whip cream just makes everything good.
1:10
Now one of the steps that makes this so easy, y'all,
1:13
is we're just using a store-bought pound cake.
1:19
And, of course, if you wanna make your own pound cake,
1:21
that never, never hurts.
1:26
So I'm gonna keep this up,
1:29
and we're gonna start by putting a layer of the pound cake
1:34
in the bottom of our trifle bowl.
1:48
And I'm only making half of a recipe y'all
1:51
because nobody's in town for me to give this to
2:01
I'm gonna put a layer of our white chocolate pudding,
2:08
and we'll kind of do it so I won't mess up
2:09
the sides of the bowl
2:10
because it's so pretty when you can
2:14
see the different layers.
2:22
And now the next step.
2:27
Got it, Eddie. (laughs)
2:34
That about (indistinct) my belly out.
2:37
All right, so we're just taking some prepared lemon curd.
2:46
Stir a little bit of that around,
2:51
and I'm just gonna layer that on top of our pudding.
3:01
I think that I may stop
3:05
and run this in the microwave for a second
3:08
so it will spread better.
3:13
I'll be back in 15 seconds.
3:15
Now that's gonna make it,
3:17
just pudding a little heat on it
3:19
is gonna make it spread much, much easier.
3:34
Just need the patient soften it up
3:46
I'd like for you to be able to see it layered
4:02
Trifle looks so pretty when you can
4:05
keep your bowl nice and clean.
4:13
Yes, much better, much, much better.
4:24
Ooh, it's already looking pretty.
4:26
Okay, another layer of pound cake.
4:37
This recipe, if you make the full recipe,
4:42
make sure you have company coming
4:46
because it really makes an awful lot.
4:52
Okay, more white chocolate pudding.
4:56
All right, a little curd.
5:16
See it spreads just like you're icing a cake now.
5:24
And you can make your own lemon curd too if you want to.
5:27
I've made it before, it's not hard to do at all,
5:36
but we're working on an easy dessert.
5:51
Looking good, isn't it, Eddie?
5:57
This is gonna be a good Easter dessert.
6:02
Yes, we would normally serve this at Easter,
6:12
All right, now I'm gonna top it
6:15
with our leftover whip cream.
6:21
I'm gonna wash my hands,
6:23
and I'll (indistinct).
6:27
There's a part to this dessert that
6:32
does take a little time.
6:35
And we made candied lemon,
6:40
and you start by taking your lemon,
6:45
and using your potato peeler,
6:50
and it is much of just the lemon,
6:53
try not to get the white
6:55
because you want it kind of zinging.
6:59
Oh, I missed a piece of cake.
7:01
This is not hard to do,
7:03
but it just takes time.
7:06
And if you look up this recipe
7:09
it's gonna have the instructions
7:12
on how to sugar your lemons.
7:17
And I'll briefly tell you what the process is.
7:22
Remove the peels from the lemon,
7:24
be sure to avoid as much of the white pith as you can,
7:27
and cut strips into thinner strips,
7:31
and save your lemon for another use.
7:34
But in a small sauce pan you wanna place your peelings
7:38
along with two cups of water,
7:43
and repeat the process again for a total of three times.
7:50
In that same pan, over medium high heat,
7:53
add two cups of water,
7:54
and two cups of sugar,
7:58
and whisk until the sugar is totally dissolved,
8:00
and then add your peels back into the pan,
8:02
and bring the mixture to a boil,
8:05
and cook it for about 10 minutes,
8:07
until your lemon peels are translucent.
8:12
And then you just take it out,
8:19
and you have wonderful candied lemon.
8:24
And that's what I'm gonna top this with.
8:27
And I tried to put mine in curly cue pieces,
8:31
tried to curl it a little bit
8:35
so it would be pretty in our bowl.
8:40
And this stuff is so good, y'all, I could eat it
8:53
And you wanna let it,
8:55
because it's been in so much of that water,
8:59
you're gonna wanna let that water drain off of it good,
9:06
and it'll crisp up just like candy.
9:21
And, Eddie, you know what the recipe says, don't you?
9:25
- [Eddie] Eat immediately.
9:26
- Eat immediately. (laughs)
9:38
You can't beat the ease of this dessert y'all.
9:56
and hold the camera at the same time, can you, Eddie?
10:02
It's really delicious.
10:05
So, what I would recommend is
10:10
candying your lemon peels early
10:14
or put them in an air tight container,
10:15
you can store it in you're refrigerator,
10:17
and then it won't take you but a minute
10:19
to throw this dessert together.
10:24
I don't think you'll be disappointed in this one
10:27
for that special meal.
10:30
Love and best dishes.
