0:00
- Another wonderful, wonderful,
0:03
quick and easy appetizer using tomatoes.
0:08
And I have made tomato tarts for y'all
0:10
and shared with y'all a recipe,
0:11
but this one's a little different.
0:13
We've got our puff pastry and I'm gonna be using
0:17
a three-inch biscuit cutter
0:27
and I'm putting them on parchment paper
0:31
because these are gonna go in the oven, naturally.
0:35
That's what you do with puff pastry.
0:44
And I'm probably gonna make about nine
0:48
with this sheet of puff.
0:53
All right, so now I'm going to brush 'em
0:57
with a little bit of olive oil
1:01
and then I'm gonna sprinkle these
1:05
with fresh-grated Parmesan cheese,
1:14
like 1/2 a teaspoon apiece.
1:20
Yep, that's 1/2 a teaspoon.
1:28
Kinda spread it around.
1:38
This is almost gonna be like a pizza, y'all know it?
1:49
Looks delicious already,
1:53
'cause I know what we're gonna end up with
1:55
and it's gonna be really good.
1:58
Okie doke, now we're gonna put these in the oven
2:01
and we're gonna bake 'em for five minutes
2:05
and then we're gonna take 'em out
2:07
and we're gonna cover each puff pastry
2:10
with mozzarella, basil, and a tomato slice.
2:17
All right, so I forgot to tell y'all a step
2:20
before we put 'em in the oven for that five minutes.
2:23
It's make sure you take a fork and prick them
2:26
so they'll go down and will be able to hold the tomatoes.
2:30
So we're gonna put a tomato on top of each puff pastry.
2:36
- [Producer] Tomatoes are pretty.
2:38
- And we're using a plum tomato for this
2:41
because the plum tomatoes are just like a perfect size.
2:46
All right, so I'm one tomato short.
2:53
And Teresa just told me we don't have any more plums.
2:57
All right, so now I'm gonna take a little salt
3:02
and just dust them with a little salt, little pepper.
3:10
- [Producer] These are like little mini
3:12
capreses, aren't they?
3:13
- Yeah, yeah, very much.
3:14
- [Producer] On a tart?
3:15
- Yeah, very much like that.
3:18
All right, so now we're gonna top each with a slice
3:22
of mozzarella and try to get that mozzarella
3:28
just as thin-sliced as you can.
3:39
I think we're gonna have to just eat that one plain.
3:44
All right, now we're gonna top each one
3:47
with a fresh basil leaf
3:54
and then we're gonna put 'em back in the oven,
3:55
y'all, for 10 more minutes.
4:00
What a wonderful summer little appetizer.
4:06
And they're not hard to do at all,
4:14
All right, so I'm gonna take that one off,
4:19
So back in they go for 10 minutes, y'all.
4:25
And it's gonna be a beautiful little delicious appetizer.
4:29
People will eat these up.
4:36
- [Producer] Do include us.
4:46
I don't think you have to be Italian
4:48
to love these, do you?
4:53
- Mm, would y'all like one?
4:59
I'm standing up here hogging it all.
5:01
- [Producer] Oh, gosh.
5:03
- Mm, mm, mm, mm, I love fresh mozzarella.
5:10
I love it on my pizzas.
5:15
- [Producer] Another thing the boys are never gonna see.
5:21
- They're having fun, though.
5:22
Their mother pulled out,
5:25
Michelle pulled out the kayaks
5:28
so they're out there kayaking.
5:32
What they don't know won't hurt 'em.
5:36
Enjoy the summer, y'all,
5:38
and enjoy these quick, easy recipes, mm.
