- Hey everybody, it's Bobby here filling in
0:04
Here's something fun and easy.
0:07
We're going into summertime
0:09
and everybody's out by the pool and at the beach
0:12
and outside in the yard having a great time
0:14
with the kids or what have you.
0:16
And everybody wants a quick and easy snack
0:19
and I've got one for you.
0:21
First thing that you might not know about me
0:23
is that I could eat saltines
0:25
or any kind of chip or cracker until the cows come home.
0:30
And saltines can be toyed with and dressed
0:33
to make into fun little snacks.
0:35
And today I'm gonna show you but one way to do that.
0:41
Now, these are some of the seeds and seasonings
0:44
and things that I like,
0:46
but you could do whatever you wanted
0:48
to make these different at your house.
0:50
So we're gonna start with some saltines, okay?
0:53
Inexpensive, quick, easy.
0:55
Some melted butter, right,
0:57
which is a staple here in this home.
1:00
And I've melted the butter obviously.
1:03
So I'm gonna kind of liberally paint my saltines.
1:09
Maybe not as liberally as my mom would do it, but liberally.
1:14
And this is gonna act as sort of my binder,
1:18
my glue for the sprinkle,
1:21
the seasonings that we're gonna sprinkle on top.
1:25
And what's better than a buttery saltine?
1:31
Then we're gonna bake 'em a little bit
1:32
after we get 'em sprinkled.
1:35
And we'll talk also about the different things
1:37
that you could put on them.
1:42
Okay, so I've buttered my saltines
1:47
and I've got caraway seeds.
1:55
Just sprinkle a little caraway seed on top.
2:04
Wonderful. Some sesame seeds
2:11
right on top as well,
2:13
as well as some celery seed.
2:16
This is a good combination.
2:23
They're gonna have a little bit of bite to 'em,
2:26
We'll bake these in the oven at 350 for just a few minutes,
2:29
just enough to brown 'em and get 'em crispy
2:31
and ready to take outside and snack on.
2:33
Now, maybe like an Old Bay,
2:35
we probably all have Old Bay in our local grocery stores.
2:39
Any kind of a fish or a chicken seasoning,
2:43
If you like a little bit more salty,
2:46
you could drop some big crunchy salt on top,
2:50
But these are the three things that I like a lot.
2:53
And now we'll bake 'em and we'll come right back.
2:56
For the five minutes that these were in the oven
2:57
I stood and just ate a sleeve. (laughs)
3:02
So I've already had a bunch of saltines
3:04
but they were just the plain ones.
3:07
They're toasty and brown and they smell great.
3:12
And again, all we did was we painted 'em
3:14
with a little bit of drawn butter,
3:16
a little caraway seed, sesame seed, and celery seed.
3:21
And golly, they smell so good.
3:31
Man. Out by the pool at the picnic, the barbecue,
3:38
your next potluck, whatever you got.
3:41
These are so good, people will be amazed.
3:44
These are just saltines?
3:46
But you can dress 'em with a little butter, celery seed.
3:51
- [Cameraperson] Sesame.
3:52
- Sesame seed and caraway.
3:54
And they're outstanding.
3:56
Enjoy. Hmm, I think I will.
