- Hey everybody, it's Bobby here,
0:02
and I've got a great summertime cocktail
0:05
or mocktail for you to have
0:07
while you're out by the grill or out by the pool.
0:09
Or anytime is a good time for a really good drink to me,
0:14
as far as I'm concerned.
0:17
So we're gonna start with a couple of cups
0:20
of blood orange juice,
0:25
combined with little lemon juice,
0:38
And a sprig of rosemary.
0:42
But I'm gonna add that in just a couple of minutes
0:44
after I've got this heated and going.
0:48
So we're gonna put it on the stovetop in a small sauce pan
0:52
and over about medium heat,
0:55
just gonna whisk in that sugar to melt it.
1:00
And it's such a beautiful color.
1:02
A blood orange is, if you don't know,
1:08
just a gorgeous citrus fruit
1:12
and it tastes so, so good.
1:16
So we're gonna heat this for a few minutes
1:19
really just to melt the sugar
1:21
and sort of bring everything together.
1:24
So a couple of minutes on the stove top
1:25
and then we're gonna strain it.
1:27
We'll pour it through a strainer and let it completely cool
1:30
and we'll finish it off by adding,
1:32
you could add some white wine to it,
1:35
but we're gonna use club soda,
1:37
so club soda and ice and it'll make for a great,
1:39
refreshing drink that doesn't have any alcohol in it,
1:42
so you can serve this to your non-drinking friends
1:45
or to your kids, super refreshing.
1:47
So we'll cook this on the stove top for a few minutes
1:50
and then we'll come right back.
1:54
Our blood orange, sugar, rosemary,
1:58
lemon juice combination has boiled,
2:01
and it sat and simmered for about seven minutes
2:04
and it really smells and looks fantastic.
2:06
Now we're just gonna strain it through a little strainer
2:09
and collect all of our solids and let that cool completely.
2:19
And when it does, then we'll add in our club soda
2:22
and we'll have a great little refreshing mocktail.
2:27
- I'm having prosecco.
2:29
Me and Addie are having prosecco.
2:31
- Okay, Trixie's having wine.
2:31
It's basically a spritzer.
2:33
Everybody knows what a wine spritzer is.
2:34
This is gonna be a really nice spritzer.
2:35
- A really good one. - Yep. Very, very good.
2:37
Okay, so we'll be back in a few minutes.
2:40
My simple syrup that we made is cooled.
2:44
I've got a nice frosty mug, little ice and some club soda.
2:49
So let's check out our mocktail.
2:55
It's an interesting word that I never use, and I've used it
2:59
about a half a dozen times just today.
3:02
I don't think I've ever used it.
3:04
Not something I normally say.
3:06
So a little ice in my frosty mug.
3:08
It's cooled, but it's still a little bit warm.
3:11
So remember this is a simple syrup
3:16
so I'm not gonna overdo it.
3:17
That should be nice and sweet.
3:22
So top it off with the club soda.
3:23
I can always come back and add some more syrup if I want to,
3:26
but I have a feeling it's gonna pack a punch.
3:32
That looks and sounds very refreshing already.
3:36
I got my mug, even got my name on it, how about that?
3:45
Oh, and the rosemary too, that is nice.
3:52
Man, I could drink a lot of that.
3:56
So it's blood orange juice, sugar, rosemary,
3:59
and a little bit of lemon juice,
4:01
and the lemon juice in there
4:02
just gives it a nice citrusy blast.
4:05
It's really refreshing.
4:06
That'd be great out by the pool
4:08
or if you're out cutting the grass, doing some yard work,
4:10
whatever, bring that to your husband or wife
4:12
that's out there gardening or doing some work,
4:14
and that'll take you a long way.
4:16
Or you could add a little wine to it
4:18
and you got a nice wine spritzer.
4:21
But that is very, very good.
4:22
So enjoy your summer and I'll see you here.
