0:02
Here in Savannah, it's like spring.
0:06
So uh, I'm gonna make like, a float.
0:11
A raspberry ice cream float.
0:14
But before I do that,
0:16
I just want to tell y'all,
0:18
I went to bed last night and I thought
0:25
maybe I had not shared something with y'all
0:30
that I was real clear on.
0:32
And so I'm talking about the new book y'all
0:35
that's gonna be coming out in the fall.
0:38
This is different from any other book
0:41
that we've had published.
0:43
This goes back to my very first cookbook
0:46
that I self-published.
0:48
And you only order so many
0:52
and then when it's gone, it's gone.
0:55
So, you will not see this book in any stores or on counters.
1:02
None of your local stores.
1:04
You will not see this book because we are only
1:07
gonna print the amount that's pre-ordered.
1:12
So unless you pre-order this book,
1:15
I cannot guarantee that you will ever be able to get one.
1:20
And that's just the way it is.
1:22
So, and remember this
1:25
if you pre-order it today or yesterday
1:29
your credit card is not gonna be charged until
1:32
we have that book in the mail on its way to you.
1:35
So I just want y'all to understand
1:38
and I'll keep saying that if you don't pre-order it
1:43
you are not guaranteed a book.
1:46
So, and I want y'all to have a book so bad cause it's good.
1:50
It's gonna be real good.
1:51
So now let's get on with our float.
1:55
For this float I'm using, I'm
1:58
I'll give y'all the whole recipe, but I'm only doing half
2:02
to the recipe cause I'm afraid I can't count
2:06
on Theresa and Eddie to help me drink that many
2:11
and I don't want to have to do that alone.
2:14
So earlier we made a simple syrup and for our simple syrup
2:20
I've done, I've done tips on how to make simple syrup.
2:27
I used one cup of granulated sugar
2:30
and two-thirds a cup of water.
2:33
And you just put that in the pot,
2:35
get it hot until your sugar melts,
2:38
take it off and let it cool.
2:40
So in some of the fancier restaurants
2:43
if you want sweet tea, they'll say, well I have
2:47
I have some sugar water.
2:49
If that was some syrup, some simple syrup.
2:54
So that's, this is what they would bring you to your table.
2:59
Now I'm adding about a fourth of a cup of simple syrup
3:03
to this and a couple of tablespoons of lime juice.
3:11
And I'm just going to use my little "emulser" thing.
3:21
Alright, now you can see our glass is frosty
3:25
because I recommend that you chill it.
3:31
And our recipe calls for vanilla ice cream.
3:38
And you see I'm using my very favorite ice cream
3:45
and I'm using my ice cream scoop that a friend sent me.
3:49
I love this so much. I've never seen one in a store ever.
3:55
But you run this under hot water and there's a liquid.
4:00
There's a liquid in this handle part
4:04
that somehow gets hot and sends that
4:12
Alright, now I'm going to add
4:19
most, almost all of my rest.
4:23
Well, I'm gonna go fourth of the way up.
4:25
Does that look like a fourth of the way up in?
4:27
- [Eddie] Yep. That looks okay.
4:34
a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
4:44
I want to keep my glass pretty.
4:48
Alright, now my seltzer water.
4:55
Let's see what it's gonna do
4:57
when I put it over that ice cream and raspberries.
5:07
it's coming out the jug Eddie.
5:15
Alright now at this point we would have to stir this
5:23
and I forgot to grab my spoon.
5:29
We have to stir that because
5:33
we want those bubbles to go away
5:35
and get as much, as much seltzer in there as we can.
5:45
So, see, this is not fattening.
5:48
I just got one old scoop of ice cream
5:52
- [Theresa] And simple syrup.
5:55
- Can you see the sugar? I can't see it.
6:06
- Get more raspberry on top.
6:12
Oh, and our mint, our mint is starting to come out.
6:16
- [Eddie] It is. It's really full right now.
6:19
- And look, Eddie said we've got some, some
6:24
of the sweetest climbing roses here in the yard.
6:29
Eddie said that's the first bud.
6:35
Look, I even decorated our, our straw
6:41
with some raspberries.
6:47
(Paula whispers) And a few more raspberries right there.
6:49
- [Theresa] That's pretty!
6:51
- [Paula] Isn't that pretty?
6:52
I'm pushing the limit y'all, as I always do.
7:01
Isn't that beautiful?
7:03
- [Theresa] It's gorgeous.
7:10
- I intentionally got me a big straw
7:15
so I could suck it down.
7:30
That is so good. So refreshing.
7:34
My grandchildren would love something like this.
7:40
They really would in that, that,
7:43
little drop of ice cream in here.
7:57
You know what, this would be so tasty to serve
8:00
to the children on Easter.
8:02
Maybe when you give 'em their Easter basket
8:05
if that's what you do.
8:11
So, "Love and Best Dishes" y'all,
8:14
don't miss this one cause it is good.
