0:02
- Hey, y'all.
0:03
(chuckles)
0:05
Eddie has made me aware that I've got,
0:09
that y'all have questions out there for me to answer.
0:13
So that's what I'm gonna do in this video.
0:16
Some of you have inquired about the color.
0:21
- [Eddie] Well, I've got some questions for you.
0:24
- Oh, okay, so you're gonna ask questions.
0:25
- [Eddie] I'll ask you the questions.
0:26
Those are your answers.
0:29
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
0:30
- I was just gonna go right into it.
0:33
- [Eddie] All right, well, the first question,
0:37
Theresa, didn't tell me who they came from or anything, but-
0:40
- I wish I knew who that came from
0:44
'cause I would like to know who I'm talking to.
0:48
- [Eddie] Well, I guess they'll have to speak up
0:53
on the comment section.
0:54
- Well, just let Theresa know that next time
0:58
that we need some names, yes.
1:01
Because I like being able to talk directly to that person.
1:05
- [Eddie] All right, well, the first question is
1:09
"How do you sign up for your weekly giveaways?"
1:12
A lot of people chime in in the comment section,
1:16
maybe on the day that we announce the winners and they say,
1:20
"Oh my gosh, where do you even sign up to begin with?"
1:24
- All you have to do is when I reveal the Monday bundle,
1:30
all you have to do is go in to that link
1:35
and you don't have to write a paragraph or anything,
1:38
you can just say, "Hello, Paula,"
1:41
but that will get your name in the wheel.
1:45
- [Eddie] And we usually do it between,
1:48
anywhere between 4:00 P.M and say 8:00 P.M Monday.
1:52
- Yeah, sometimes we get behind,
1:54
but we try to do it somewhere between four and five
1:58
on Monday afternoons and the same thing for Wednesday
2:04
when we announce the winners.
2:06
But sometimes our day will be crazy
2:08
and we'll remember at 8:30 at night
2:10
that we hadn't announced the winners.
2:12
So don't ever give up on this, we're coming.
2:17
- [Eddie] All right, the next question is
2:19
"What color blue is on your kitchen cabinets?"
2:24
- Okay, okay.
2:26
That's the first question I was gonna answer
2:27
'cause I thought that was it.
2:30
The name of that blue that's on the island,
2:35
the base of the island and on the appliance center,
2:40
anyway, it's called Stargazer
2:43
and it's a Sherwin Williams paint
2:46
and the number is 9635.
2:50
And I have realized now that that is a very,
2:56
y'all come on.
2:57
We just shooting a little video.
2:59
Michael is walking up the steps with aunt Peggy
3:03
trying to get her up here.
3:09
- [Aunt Peggy] Oh, how wonderful.
3:12
- [Michael] That was nice.
3:13
- What was I saying, Eddie?
3:14
I already forgotten what I was saying.
3:15
- [Eddie] We were talking about the Stargazer blue.
3:18
- Oh, I have recently found out
3:21
and flipping through magazines that that color blue
3:25
is really, really popular.
3:29
Really, really popular.
3:30
I've seen it in a lot of magazines,
3:32
so it really is a pretty, pretty color.
3:35
And I decided when I saw it
3:37
that I just want to paint mine and Michael's bedroom
3:40
just use that color because I knew it was good.
3:44
Where are you going, Mikey?
3:45
- [Michael] I was gonna bust a lot of people
3:48
on Creek House and Chrissy.
3:50
- Oh, you're so sweet.
3:51
Oh, that's great.
3:53
So Michael just said that he's gonna run down to Creek House
3:57
because there's a bus load of folks
4:00
and Michael's gonna go down there and speak to them
4:02
and talk with them.
4:04
That's wonderful, Mikey.
4:07
Oh, okay.
4:09
- [Eddie] All right, the next question
4:11
actually did have a name and,
4:15
or maybe it's just an email name.
4:18
It's Gidget 13.
4:20
- Gidget 13, yeah, that's an email name.
4:24
- [Eddie] "One more thing, I love,"
4:26
so that other question may have come from her as well.
4:28
"I love your chair cushions.
4:30
Would you share where you got them?
4:32
My hard seats are getting to me
4:35
and these look like they don't slip around."
4:37
- I'm assuming, Gidget that this is the one
4:39
that you're talking about.
4:41
This is Paula Deen fabric.
4:44
It's one of my fabrics with Craftmaster.
4:52
I can give you the name.
4:56
The pattern is dimensions.
4:59
D-I-M-E-N-S-I-O-N, dimension.
5:05
And the master color is 22 and the group is 15C,
5:14
but I really do have some beautiful fabrics
5:18
with Craftmaster.
5:20
And we are fixing to do a Roman shade in the kitchen,
5:27
on my double windows and we're gonna do it
5:30
out of this fabric.
5:32
And this is one of those fabrics that stuff just,
5:36
if you spill something on, it kind of just rolls off.
5:41
If you have small children, this is a great fabric to have.
5:47
- [Eddie] Okay, the next question comes from Mary Lee Blair.
5:53
And she says, "Each year I ask my granddaughters
5:58
to make me a list of things they want me,
6:01
just me, to give them for Christmas.
6:03
This year, my nine-year-old granddaughter, Tiegen,
6:08
asked me to give her cooking lessons.
6:10
I have tried to teach all of them the basics,
6:14
it's that special bond we share.
6:17
My question is, what spices and seasonings
6:21
should I introduce her to first as not to overwhelm her?
6:25
She has three special dishes
6:27
that she wants to learn that I make.
6:29
Any suggestions on recipes?"
6:32
- Well, are those sweet or savory?
6:34
- [Eddie] She doesn't say.
6:35
- I would need to know that.
6:36
- [Eddie] She doesn't say.
6:37
- Cinnamon would be the first spice, I think,
6:42
to introduce her to.
6:45
Maybe cinnamon, nutmeg, those kinds of spices.
6:53
In fact, you could show her how you get fresh nutmeg
6:59
and you can buy the little nutmeg nuts whole
7:03
at the grocery store and you grate them.
7:07
And that would give you fresh nutmeg.
7:10
And to me, that is really, really so much better
7:13
than the ground nutmeg.
7:15
And of course, if we're talking about savory,
7:19
to me, we're talking about like my house seasoning
7:23
is salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
7:27
So to me, that's like our Trinity.
7:31
Hey, Mary Lee, I have written two cookbooks for children.
7:36
And so I'm flipping through this
7:38
to see if I can see what spices or seasonings
7:49
that I maybe introduced the children to
7:51
'cause this is my very first cookbook.
7:54
This is for the younger child.
7:57
And I'm just looking to see salt and pepper and hot sauce,
8:05
if you like, is in that recipe.
8:09
Salt and pepper, naturally salt and pepper
8:13
are gonna to be the first seasoning
8:15
she would introduce them to.
8:19
So right now that's all I see in this first cookbook
8:24
that I have introduced to young children.
8:30
It's been a long, long time since I wrote this cookbook.
8:35
Let me see when it was actually published.
8:42
"This book is for the love of my life,
8:44
my grandson, Jack Linton Dean,
8:46
in hopes that he too will inherit the love of the kitchen."
8:50
So Jack was born.
8:53
He wasn't old enough to appear
8:57
on the cover of this cookbook though.
9:00
So he was young and I can't see,
9:06
okay, 2008, 2008.
9:10
So it's 13 years old, right?
9:13
So Jack just turned 15 in August.
9:17
So he had been just about two years old
9:21
when I wrote this book.
9:24
This book, you can find this in any
9:27
of the Paula Deen Stores,
9:29
Paula Deen's Family Kitchen Stores,
9:32
or The Lady and Sons and Paula Deen Creek House.
9:38
But I would think just the salt and pepper and garlic powder
9:44
and onion powder would be great for seasons,
9:48
for savory cooking.
9:51
- [Eddie] The next question is,
9:53
"What is that wooden box on the table
9:56
at the end of the island?
9:58
And where did the frog land?"
10:05
- Well, we're constantly moving things around.
10:08
So the question is the old English mahogany cutlery box,
10:15
it's Circa 19th century which would,
10:19
it would have been a piece from the 1800's.
10:24
So it is a couple of hundred years old
10:26
and I think it's so beautiful.
10:28
I don't use it to hold knives
10:30
because the knives in this day and age won't fit
10:35
in the slots like they did back then,
10:40
but it's just so beautiful to me to look at.
10:43
And it was on the end of the counter,
10:45
but now it's in the living room
10:47
and I am gonna do a tour of the living room.
10:50
I been waiting to get the window treatment up.
10:54
So I'm gonna be doing that tour very, very soon.
11:00
And you'll discover it in the living room now.
11:05
- [Eddie] Okay, the next question is,
11:08
"I want to talk to Paula
11:09
about what it takes to start a small business from home.
11:14
I'm a widow and I work for the state,
11:17
but need a little extra income.
11:19
I have a son going to college
11:21
and I can make chicken and dressing like nobody's business.
11:26
We would like some pointers.
11:28
Thanks so much."
11:29
- Well, what does it take to start a home business?
11:32
Guts, guts.
11:34
My Aunt Peggy is sitting out here on the porch with me
11:36
and she is the only one that has any idea
11:42
about the journey that I went on
11:44
when I started The Bag Lady business out of my home.
11:50
The first thing I did was get a business license,
11:53
but they really don't allow you to work from home,
11:58
most places don't, but each town is different,
12:02
but if you could get out the word to people
12:07
and maybe sell a pan or two of your chicken and dressing,
12:17
you've got to have a little bit bigger
12:19
repertoire though than that.
12:22
If you make good cakes or like lasagna or meatballs,
12:28
you'll need a little bit more variety,
12:31
but start with the dish that you make the best.
12:34
I'll never forget the first day that Jamie and I
12:37
ran a Bag Lady route, I had 50 Tuna fish sandwiches to sell
12:43
and I had them wrapped in saran wrap.
12:46
And by the time we got to where we were going,
12:50
they were kind of smashed.
12:52
But you know, they tasted really good
12:56
and we sold every one of them,
12:58
sold every one of them,
13:00
but it didn't take me long to know
13:02
that I was gonna have to have a lot more variety.
13:06
So it really does just take guts.
13:10
And I can also suggest that you can maybe go to a church
13:16
and use their kitchen, that has a food permit license,
13:24
because you don't want any trouble
13:28
to sneak up on you from that area.
13:30
So like I said, just put on your big girl panties,
13:34
step out on the board and dive in.
13:37
(laughs)
13:40
I didn't have enough sense to know
13:43
that maybe I couldn't do something
13:47
'cause I thought I could do anything that I set my mind to.
13:52
- [Eddie] All right,
13:53
the next question comes from Melanie Fusel.
13:56
- Melanie Fusel?
13:57
- Mm-hm, and she says, "I've adored you for years.
14:03
You, Eddie and Theresa are a fabulous team.
14:07
Thrills me to pieces to see you on YouTube.
14:10
Can't tell you how much I've loved,"
14:13
I keep cutting your head off, sorry.
14:15
- That's all right.
14:16
- [Eddie] I'm reading and dropping there-
14:17
- It's probably worth cutting off.
14:20
- [Eddie] "How much I've loved the house renovation videos.
14:23
I look every day for the grand finale of "The Living Room."
14:29
My question for Paula is, would you please share with me
14:32
the exact white paint color company you used
14:36
in your new home?
14:37
I guessed it might be decorator white by Benjamin Moore,
14:41
redoing my living room and I want the same color as you."
14:44
- Okay, good.
14:46
I love the color of my walls, love them.
14:50
And it's by Benjamin Moore and it's Chantilly Lace.
14:56
Chantilly Lace and a pretty face.
14:59
- [Eddie] You did it on the wall and on the trim.
15:02
- And on the trim, yes.
15:03
I did a flat on the walls
15:05
and a semi-gloss on the woodwork
15:11
and it's OC65, Chantilly Lace.
15:17
♪ And pretty face and a- ♪
15:21
That's a Billy Holy song, yeah.
15:25
- [Eddie] And that's it, that's all the questions.
15:27
- That's it, that's all she read.
15:31
So, I can't wait to finish doing the tour.
15:37
"The Living Room" will definitely be next.
15:41
And maybe it'll take it a little while
15:44
to get into the other rooms
15:45
because it's a work in progress every day we get up.
15:51
And you know, I sold Riverbend, my last house,
15:56
I sold it furnished.
15:58
So I had to start back over and collecting things.
16:02
So it's been fun, it's been fun.
16:12
So we'll be showing it to you soon.
16:14
What can I say?
16:16
