- You know, y'all's kindness truly does take my breath away.
0:04
And I've said it and said it and said it.
0:06
I don't know how many times,
0:08
but it gives me great pleasure,
0:11
when I receive things from y'all out there.
0:13
It makes me feel like I'm still in connection with y'all,
0:17
even though I'm not on that big TV set of yours.
0:24
But I am on YouTube,
0:26
and I hope y'all enjoy that just as much.
0:30
I don't think there's any commercials on YouTube,
0:32
so maybe y'all will enjoy it.
0:35
I don't know.
0:35
Maybe commercials. - [Eddie] There are.
0:36
- I don't know. (laughs)
0:37
There is commercials, and I appreciate the commercials, too.
0:42
I really do.
0:46
So the first letter I got last week,
0:49
and it is from Mary Edington,
0:55
and I just hollered,
0:58
when I opened Mary's package.
1:03
She sent me a picture of her family,
1:07
and she made this card.
1:11
It's a homemade card that I love,
1:15
and it says, "happy birthday, love Mary and Pamela,
1:23
and Pam," I think,
1:24
her daughter goes by Pam rather than Pamela.
1:28
But anyway, they made this for me,
1:31
and apparently they were just a little mixed
1:35
up because my 75th birthday was, like,
1:38
last year in 2022, right, Eddie?
1:42
- [Eddie] Right.
1:43
- Because I turned 76 in 2023.
1:46
But Mary, this is so precious and I tell you what,
1:49
you just can't,
1:51
I can't tell you how much it made my day.
1:54
I laughed and laughed,
1:55
which, laughter is such a wonderful cure,
1:59
for whatever you've got.
2:01
And so I appreciate this life.
2:03
So this is the apron that Mary and Pam made for me.
2:13
"No butt shots, Eddie!" (laughs)
2:17
And it's even got a little hand towel with it.
2:22
Half the hand towel is, "no butt shots, Eddie!"
2:26
But this is the cutest thing I've ever seen.
2:29
In fact, when Eddie brought it to me,
2:33
and opened the package,
2:35
I said, "oh my goodness, these are in our store now?"
2:39
He said, "no, this is from a viewer."
2:44
And I said, "oh my God, I love it.
2:48
Love it, love it."
2:49
These should be in the store.
2:51
All right.
2:52
The rope's not long enough to go around me twice.
2:55
So I'm trying to tie this in a knot.
2:59
I mean, not in a knot, but in a bow. (laughs)
3:05
- [Eddie] I think that,
3:06
I think that's meant to be worn backwards, though. (laughs)
3:08
- Oh, you think it is? (laughs)
3:10
Maybe it is.
3:11
Maybe it's supposed to be backwards.
3:13
- [Eddie] That's the cover.
3:14
- Okay.
3:15
- [Eddie] Cover going into the oven.
3:16
- Okay. (laughs)
3:18
Oh, okay. (laughs)
3:19
And I'll bring that dish rag around.
3:23
- [Woman] What's something that's not a cult?
3:26
- Is it good?
3:28
(Eddie and Paula laugh)
3:29
Have I got it centered?
3:31
- [Eddie] Yes, it's right.
3:32
- Mary. (claps)
3:35
You got a sense of humor too, don't you girl.
3:39
I love it, love it, love it.
3:41
So anyway. (laughs)
3:44
Mary and Pam made me this glass.
3:49
No butt shots, Eddie, please. (laughs)
3:54
And with my picture, this is the picture.
3:57
This, it is from the cover of my memoirs book.
4:02
And I had on my house coat,
4:04
and I was sticking my head,
4:06
outta my bathroom window. (laughs)
4:09
Okay, she sent this, she sent the apron and a bunch of,
4:15
bunch of recipes that I am gonna be making.
4:18
Mary, listen,
4:20
I enjoyed reading your letter so much,
4:22
and all of your, your recipes, Mary, and your card.
4:29
But you sent me one recipe
4:31
that I'm doing in my very next video and it's a recipe
4:38
for hummingbird feeders and I love hummingbirds.
4:43
And you really have to have the right stuff
4:45
to attract those.
4:46
So y'all, y'all hang in there,
4:48
and look for that recipe 'cause it's coming.
4:51
All right.
4:55
Oh, oh, oh.
4:57
That's her card.
4:58
Oh, and another one.
5:00
Now listen to this.
5:04
This is from Benjamin Walden.
5:07
"Dear Paula, I'm just thankful for you and your videos.
5:10
They bring me so much joy.
5:12
Last year I was lucky enough to win one of your giveaways,
5:16
which I found totally shocking, as I never win anything.
5:21
I have always loved your new beautiful home,
5:24
and your spectacular style and delicious recipes.
5:27
You remind me so much of my grandmother, which I call Lulu.
5:32
And I knew last year I wanted to send you something special.
5:35
And my first thought was a beautiful
5:37
faux flower arrangement and in a blue
5:41
and white chin-"
5:45
- [Eddie] Rosary. - Chin rosary.
5:47
Thank you Eddie, container.
5:50
He's a floral designer, "but I decided to rethink that
5:54
because it might not be your style."
5:56
So Benjamin must be a terribly, terribly talented man,
6:03
and he decided to send me,
6:07
two watercolors that he had painted.
6:11
And Benjamin, I adore them and they will,
6:15
you will see these in frames in my house at Christmastime.
6:21
I just think they're beautiful.
6:24
And I like this so much better,
6:26
than a faux flower arrangement
6:29
even though I know it would've been beautiful.
6:32
I love to watercolor and this just made me so very happy.
6:37
So thank you darling and thank you,
6:39
for your letter and your card,
6:40
and all the wonderful things that you had to say to me.
6:46
Thank you so much Benjamin.
6:50
The next one,
6:53
"my name is Angie Hallmark,
6:55
and I'm from Dansville, Alabama.
6:58
I wanted to write and let you know
6:59
how much I enjoy watching your videos.
7:01
My husband and I have also visited your restaurant,
7:04
in Pigeon Forge several times.
7:07
And of course I always have to get myself some things,
7:09
while we're shopping in the store.
7:11
I love all the cute rubber spatulas.
7:14
I buy one of those every time.
7:16
And I also wanted to share with you some pictures,
7:18
of my 10 year old granddaughter Mackenzie,
7:21
baking your, baking your bag lady chocolate pound cake,
7:26
which was my Aunt Jessie's, a dear aunt of mine.
7:30
She, like her, Nana loves to bake.
7:32
She actually made the cake by herself.
7:34
I got the pan ready,
7:36
and it turned out beautiful and tasted amazing.
7:39
And she also baked some homemade buttermilk biscuits.
7:44
She's just 10 years old.
7:47
We have a great time baking together."
7:50
And...
7:52
I just love that Angie.
7:55
I just love it because I think the kitchen,
7:58
is one of those special places,
8:01
that gives us a opportunity to bond,
8:06
especially with our grandchildren.
8:09
Especially with our grandchildren,
8:10
because they'll remember that when they get old.
8:16
So here is a picture of Angie's granddaughter.
8:24
Let's see, did she ever tell, Mackenzie, yes.
8:32
That is my Aunt Jessie's,
8:34
chocolate pound cake that Mackenzie has baked.
8:39
(Paula chuckles)
8:42
I love, love, love, seeing these young children,
8:46
carry on traditions.
8:50
Because I can't stand the thought of us losing them,
8:54
losing them to some fast food drive-through window,
8:58
to pick up something.
9:00
This makes me very happy.
9:04
So thank you.
9:05
Thank you, Mackenzie.
9:06
You did me proud, little girl.
9:09
You did me proud.
9:11
All right.
9:13
And the next letter I got is,
9:16
"my name is Emily and I have cooked your food
9:19
for years and now am addicted to your YouTube channel.
9:24
I adore everything about it, from Eddie-"
9:26
Don't we all need an Eddie?
9:29
"and to your sense of humor
9:31
and that cute girl Emily that fixes your hair.
9:35
I love it all.
9:37
I love to watch you read your mail,
9:40
and also wondering if you have ever made forgotten cookies.
9:45
Do this at night before bed.
9:47
Preheat the oven to 350, beat two egg whites,
9:50
add two-thirds cup of sugar
9:52
and a splash of clear vanilla, when stiff,
9:55
stir in one cup of mini chocolate chips placed,
9:57
on four line cookie sheet and put in oven, close the door,
10:02
turn the oven off, and go to bed.
10:06
You can also add some finely chopped nuts.
10:09
The next morning, set a reminder,
10:11
because it won't, you won't smell them,
10:14
but you'll be so glad that you made them.
10:17
And I've enclosed a few cards
10:19
for you to use to mail to friends and family.
10:22
I have a small business that I have created,
10:26
by taking pictures of anything and everything,
10:29
from our home, including our pets, food, home decor,
10:33
seasonal things and flowers,
10:35
and added a cute thought to them.
10:37
Hope you love sending them,
10:39
and your special person loves getting them.
10:43
I've also included a picture of my mom a few years ago,
10:47
for Halloween, and your middle son,
10:51
with her, and Halloween,
10:54
and our middle son with her, can you tell who they are?
10:59
(Paula chuckles)
10:59
Laugh, laugh."
11:01
So she finishes with, "May God continue to bless your family
11:05
your business and all that you do, Emily Hudson."
11:10
And I just want to show y'all these adorable cards.
11:14
In fact,
11:16
I've got to get in touch with Emily,
11:21
because I would love to have some of these cards.
11:24
"Hey honey, just chicken on ya."
11:28
Get it?
11:29
Like instead of checking just chicken on you. (laughs)
11:34
Emily, that's so cute.
11:37
And look at this one.
11:42
"You're the raisin I smile."
11:45
Get it?
11:46
You're the reason, you're the raisin? (laughs)
11:52
How cute is that?
11:55
And look at this one.
11:56
This is so cute.
11:57
"Thanks a whole punch,"
12:00
instead of a whole bunch, a whole punch. (laughs)
12:04
Emily, thank you so much.
12:07
I'm going to pass these on to my son, Jamie,
12:12
who does a lot of buying for the store,
12:16
and at The Lady and Sons.
12:18
I'll do that in a minute,
12:20
at The Lady and Sons, but I do,
12:22
I'm gonna have him check with you and see,
12:25
if we can work something out to put 'em in our store.
12:29
I am, I just don't wanna forget anybody at all.
12:33
And I just found this in my drawer that I keep
12:36
in the kitchen with just incidentals in there.
12:39
And you know, I don't remember if I ever acknowledged...
12:45
- [Eddie] I think we may have talked about it one time.
12:49
It just happened to be we were working
12:52
with dough and you may have shown it,
12:54
but I don't know that you went into depth.
12:57
- Yes, yes.
12:59
Well this is from Angie Renew,
13:01
and she lives in Thomasville, Georgia.
13:03
A beautiful little old town,
13:07
about 60 miles away from Albany, Georgia,
13:12
where I was raised.
13:14
But she said, "after watching one of your videos struggling
13:19
with getting the dough mixed up with your butter,
13:22
I decided to order this blending fork for you.
13:25
It's stainless steel, so I hope it will last.
13:28
You can use it for multiple purposes.
13:32
I saw this being used on another YouTube channel.
13:34
And immediately thought of you.
13:37
I hope it works for you.
13:39
Keep your awesome, awesome videos coming.
13:43
After all these years, you're still my favorite,
13:47
as is your precious family.
13:50
Now that being said, keep it real girl.
13:53
That's what makes you shine.
13:55
Love Angie Renew."
13:58
So in case I did not recognize this and thank you properly,
14:06
I'm doing it now, girl, thank you so much.
14:10
And I send love and best dishes to all of y'all out there.
14:15
Now let's see, we were in Nash-
14:18
- [Eddie] This was in Owa.
14:19
- Oh yes, we,
14:22
our last book signing was in Owa,
14:25
in Foley, Alabama.
14:29
And Paula Dean's Family Kitchen is located
14:32
in the OWA Recreation Center,
14:36
and they've got all kind of things set up in there.
14:38
It just, it's a fun place to visit.
14:43
So I did, I did a book signing there at the restaurant,
14:49
and a lady came in this in a beautiful box,
14:54
and she said,
14:55
"thank you for being a southern lady.
14:57
You are giving the recipes to us.
14:59
Thank you and happy Easter.
15:01
May your Easter be filled with many blessings,
15:04
and for the rest of this year as well.
15:06
From, Brenda Weaver."
15:11
Sital...
15:12
I don't know if it's Citron or Sital, Alabama.
15:18
So this was just terribly kind of her.
15:23
She wanted me to have this plate for Easter.
15:26
And of course it's a Lenox.
15:29
And, the title of this one is "Woodland Wildlife,"
15:36
and it's Cottontail rabbits.
15:41
And this is dated.
15:43
I love the way they date and they number these.
15:47
But this is 1975, which makes me very happy.
15:53
I had been outta high school 10 years when this was made.
16:01
How sweet, how sweet, how sweet, how sweet.
16:06
And I love the card.
16:08
Purple flowers are like, maybe my favorite.
16:12
So thank you so, so much, Brenda.
16:18
Like I said,
16:19
y'all's thoughtfulness kind of takes my breath away,
16:23
and I feel like I'm one of the luckiest women,
16:25
in the world to have friends like y'all.
16:32
So no cooking today, but the next video,
16:35
I am using that hummingbird recipe,
16:38
and I'm gonna try to get me some hummingbirds.
16:45
Hey y'all, it's Paula Deen.
16:46
Now, if you enjoyed this video, be sure to like it,
