- Hey, y'all, I'm gonna share a recipe with y'all
0:04
that everyone who has this at Paula Deen's Family Kitchen
0:12
in Pigeon Forge, they adore them.
0:17
And I know that a lot of folks out there are asking
0:21
for pancake, different pancake recipes.
0:24
Well, this one is truly different.
0:28
And it's the one that we serve daily
0:32
at Paula Deen's Family Kitchen in Pigeon Forge.
0:36
And this is served just in our family kitchens
0:41
that are open for breakfast.
0:42
Not all of them are open for breakfast
0:45
and the recipe that I'm sharing with y'all today
0:49
as I was saying a second ago, a lot
0:52
of people have been asking for different pancake recipes.
0:56
So we talked about it and decided
0:59
that we would share with y'all this wonderful ooey
1:04
gooey butter pancake that we serve at Paula Deen's
1:09
Family Kitchen in Pigeon Forge and Myrtle Beach.
1:13
Now it's gonna be several steps.
1:17
We actually cut this recipe in half
1:20
because it makes so many, but you can go on this link
1:25
and you can get the full recipe and then you can cut it
1:30
in half or double it, however you want it to be.
1:34
So there are several steps in this wonderful pancake.
1:39
So the first thing I'm gonna start with
1:43
is the last thing (laughs).
1:46
The last part of the recipe.
1:49
So I'm gonna beat one stick of softened butter,
2:00
Now I'm going to whip this first and then we'll add
2:02
the confectioner sugar, but we want to just do
2:07
this until it's creamy. (mixer blending)
2:16
So for y'all that have have the gooey butter cakes
2:20
over the years, you get my drift on this pancake, right?
2:34
Okay, that's pretty creamy.
2:41
I don't have many choices in bowl sizes around here.
2:48
How tired of y'all of hearing me say it's in storage?
2:51
I know, I'm tired of saying it or more.
3:05
Oh, that's so nice and creamy.
3:26
You know, I'm gonna get every bit of it y'all.
3:29
Okay, I don't think we even going to have
3:32
to wash those beaters because we just gone be beating more
3:41
So I'm gone set this aside cause the last step is done.
3:50
So we're gonna start with the liquid gooey butter mix.
3:56
And for that one, I'm gonna have to get me another bowl,
4:02
gonna have to try to find a bowl.
4:03
I really do like using clear bowls, so that y'all can
4:08
see the ingredients, but I'm gone just do the best I can.
4:17
It's gone be in a metal bowl and I've got my cream cheese.
4:24
I've got my powdered sugar.
4:34
I've got my vanilla and so I'm gonna just mix this up
4:45
and get it a little smooth.
4:50
Those don't feel like they're in there all that good.
4:54
I'll find out in just a second though won't I?
5:14
This kind of sounds like the filling
5:17
to the gooey butter cake, doesn't it?
5:21
- You know that feeling that we put on top?
5:23
You think it is Theresa?
5:24
- [Theresa] And just incorporating it in,
5:26
to give it the gooey.
5:44
So we wanna mix this until it's very smooth.
5:48
All right, so we gone move this to the side.
5:57
And now we're gonna make, yeah
6:04
I put the vanilla in there, didn't I?
6:07
So now we actually gonna make the pancake part
6:12
of our gooey butter cake pancakes.
6:24
Trying to get these in without getting too greasy,
6:28
but I couldn't do it.
6:34
So I'm gonna read off this part of the recipe.
6:42
So you can hear me before I start the beaters.
6:49
So I've got eggs, vegetable oil,
7:01
Where's my buttermilk?
7:02
Oh, here's my buttermilk.
7:04
I've got self-rising flour.
7:08
I've got a fourth of a cup of sugar
7:11
and I've got buttermilk and I've got vanilla extract.
7:19
And they tell us to just mix all the ingredients
7:23
in a mixer on low for about a minute.
7:28
And then we're gone be ready to go.
7:32
All right, I'm gonna add the sugar.
7:55
Pancakes really are, you know
7:58
oh, gosh, doggit, they're really easy to make.
8:06
The thing is, you know, having a pan big enough
8:09
this works real well if you've got a griddle
8:17
So we've got milk and buttermilk.
8:19
So we're going to mix this for about one minute.
8:24
And then in the meantime, I'm going to start heating
8:27
up our griddle to 350.
8:40
Oh, I forgot the oil, didn't I cause it's clear.
8:44
I was about to miss it ya'll.
8:48
A little vegetable oil.
8:55
You gonna beat this by about one minute
8:58
until it's kinda lump-free.
9:01
According to Pigeon Forge,
9:05
Family Kitchen in Pigeon Forge,
9:07
they say place three ounces on a 350 degree skillet.
9:12
And as it cooks on the first side
9:16
we're gonna place some of the liquid ooey
9:19
gooey butter in a pinwheel configuration.
9:28
And then we gone flip it and then we gone eat it.
9:32
Okay, I took a quick break y'all
9:35
because I realized in order to do the liquid gooey
9:40
butter cake part that I needed a bag.
9:45
So we've transferred this to a bag and that'll
9:47
help me be able to turn this thing into a pinwheel fashion.
9:53
So they use three ounces in the restaurant.
9:59
That's the size they make the pancakes that we serve.
10:05
It's hard to figure out what three ounces is
10:07
though in a liquid state.
10:19
So now while that's cooking
10:23
we're gonna just do this in a pinwheel fashion.
10:40
you know, this is how we're gonna do it, gang.
10:46
We gonna do it just like that.
10:47
Because this bag that I got has a pleat in it (laughs).
11:01
so we're gonna do it just like that.
11:05
See how it's souping the plate (laughs).
11:12
See the bubbles coming now?
11:18
So that tells us that it's time to flip.
11:21
And look Eddie at that beautiful, beautiful pancake.
11:33
That looks right good, doesn't it, y'all?
11:42
And remember when we started out, we made that topping.
11:49
Do you remember us making this topping?
11:49
of butter and confectioner sugar, vanilla.
11:53
And I think that was it.
11:57
- [Theresa] That was it.
11:59
- [Theresa] Cream cheese, butter.
12:01
- Oh yeah, cream cheese.
12:02
That's what I forgot.
12:04
- [Theresa] And vanilla.
12:11
- I'm calling these done.
12:16
- [Theresa] You want them to be still gooey.
12:23
- So this is just how we serve them
12:26
at Paula Deen's Family Kitchen
12:29
in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
12:33
Doesn't it look delicious?
12:36
So do ya'll mind having sugar-free syrup with y'alls?
12:49
Well, I guess not, y'all don't all answer me at one time.
12:55
There you go, Eddie.
12:57
There you go, Eddie, again.
12:59
- [Theresa] you just put that sugar-free stuff
13:02
- [Theresa] I'm kidding.
13:04
I don't think I've ever done sugar free.
13:06
- Well it's really good.
13:07
It's you know, it's like anything when you get used to it.
13:13
I'll put a little right there.
13:15
- [Theresa] I don't know that I have even used syrup
13:29
- [Theresa] Gosh, look how fluffy, Eddie.
13:33
Everything that we do at Family Kitchen
13:42
- [Theresa] That's a good cake.
13:43
So loving best dishes.
