0:00
- Good morning my dear friends.
0:05
I'm gonna start out by telling y'all
0:09
a story that happened years ago,
0:12
and I had made monkey bread for my children for years,
0:17
or if I was having a get together,
0:20
and I thought
0:24
I want something that's stronger than a monkey.
0:28
I would like a bread that would kick the monkey's hinny.
0:34
So I said how about a gorilla?
0:36
Gorilla bread.
0:37
And I am gonna add a chunk of cream cheese
0:42
in each of those biscuits.
0:46
Now that ain't monkey bread, y'all,
0:47
that's gorilla bread.
0:50
It's that strong gorilla glue. (laughs)
0:54
So I'm gonna share the recipe with y'all today.
0:56
And monkey bread, as we know it,
1:00
you can put so many twists
1:01
and turns on it, absolutely.
1:04
I mean you can bring in flavors,
1:06
you can bring in butterscotch,
1:07
you can bring in caramel,
1:08
you can bring in,
1:10
gosh, what other flavors.
1:12
I mean so many.
1:14
- [Theresa] I don't know that I've really had monkey bared.
1:15
- What?
1:16
- [Theresa] I'm sure I've had it,
1:18
but I just don't really remember.
1:19
- What?
1:21
Well you fixing to have some today.
1:24
- [Theresa] Ours is gorilla.
1:25
- Ours is gorilla bread.
1:28
All right, now I'm gonna start out ya'll
1:31
by melting a stick of butter
1:34
in with a cup of brown sugar.
1:37
- [Theresa] You might need to turn on the stove.
1:39
- You never turned on the stove?
1:40
- [Theresa] No.
1:41
- Good, you don't usually,
1:42
I mean I usually turn on the stove.
1:43
Thank you, I ain't totally helpless.
1:48
Maybe not far off. (laughs)
1:50
All right, so let me get a spoon.
2:01
So I took this into the restaurant,
2:05
and I tested it on my work family,
2:11
and they all liked it a lot.
2:14
All right, now, I'm just combining sugar
2:17
and cinnamon.
2:19
So this is nice and melted, I'm gonna cut that off.
2:23
Now I sprayed this pan,
2:24
I can't remember if it required spraying or not,
2:29
but I did.
2:31
So it's been a long, long time
2:32
since I've made this so let me see.
2:35
In a sauce pan melt butter
2:37
and brown sugar over low heat, stirring well,
2:38
cut the cream cheese,
2:39
and I've already done that,
2:41
into equal pieces.
2:45
Okay.
2:47
So I'm gonna come over here,
2:51
and just-
2:52
- [Theresa] Doesn't the cinnamon sugar go on it?
2:55
- Well let me just see, I can't-
2:56
- [Theresa] I think it does.
2:58
- It's been years.
2:59
Let me see.
3:02
You can kind of do this any way you want to
3:04
so there's no telling how I did it back then.
3:10
Mix in, sprinkle each.
3:13
Yes, so we do do that.
3:15
- [Theresa] That's why I gave you the shaker.
3:17
- Yeah.
3:18
We use a cinnamon sugar mixture.
3:22
I say we, I do for when my grandchildren are over,
3:27
and they love Ginny's cinnamon toast.
3:29
So I'll use this.
3:33
So that's perfect.
3:36
Thanks, Theresa, you keep me straight now.
3:40
- [Theresa] I am.
3:42
Do you want me to come over there,
3:43
and help you do those?
3:44
- Oh, I would love that.
3:46
- [Theresa] I just washed my hands so we're perfect.
3:47
- Good, I did too.
3:50
So all you wanna do is make sure that you seal,
3:54
seal those up so that the cream cheese won't run out.
3:58
You wanna capture that cream cheese
4:00
in this ball of dough.
4:03
All right, I am
4:08
layering some nuts on the bottom of our bundt,
4:11
and we've got our cream cheese biscuits.
4:14
- [Theresa] And there were 20 biscuits, Paula,
4:16
10 goes on one layer
4:18
and then 10-
4:19
- Right.
4:20
It's gonna be a two layer.
4:21
So two, four, six, eight, 10.
4:27
And now I'm gonna sprinkle it
4:30
with the cinnamon sugar.
4:37
- [Theresa] Yum.
4:37
- Oh my gosh, I can't hardly wait.
4:43
Mm.
4:45
- [Theresa] Now the babies still don't eat nuts, right?
4:49
- You know, sometimes they'll eat nuts,
4:50
sometimes they won't.
4:53
♪ Sometimes you feel like a nut ♪
4:55
- And sometimes you don't.
4:57
All right, now I'm gonna pour half
5:01
of our brown sugar butter in.
5:04
I'm gonna have to incorporate it again,
5:06
it's kind of separated.
5:31
I'm memorized and hypnotized.
5:37
Looks like caramel.
5:40
Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm.
5:43
Okay.
5:45
Now what do I do?
5:47
- [Theresa] Just throw that brick in.
5:49
- Yeah, I'm gonna just drop this extra cream cheese
5:54
around in here.
5:57
Nestle it in there.
6:01
I'm gonna layer it with nuts,
6:05
and the rest of the biscuits.
6:14

6:17
