0:00
- So hello, everybody.
0:02
I'm gonna share with y'all on this video
0:05
a recipe if you're doing like a bridal luncheon
0:12
or a baby shower or a bridge party, whatever you're doing,
0:17
and I'm gonna show you how it would be done the fan,
0:21
no, I'm gonna tell you how you would do it in a fancy way.
0:26
And I don't know if you can see from that picture.
0:30
That's the fancy way,
0:34
but I'm gonna show y'all the lazy man's family way.
0:42
So I'm gonna start, I'm starting the recipe
0:45
kind of back, back-ass-wards.
0:49
This is for the topping, but it's got to be refrigerated,
0:53
so I'm gonna use one envelope of plain gelatin
0:59
and then I'm gonna just pour the cold water over that,
1:05
and let it sit for, oh gosh, about a minute.
1:10
And then I'm gonna add, after it sits,
1:13
I'm gonna add 1/3 of a cup of boiling water to it.
1:18
And over here, I have two cups of heavy cream.
1:23
That looks like a cup of sugar.
1:25
- [Teresa] It's actually 2/3.
1:26
- [Paula] 2/3, and I've got about--
1:30
- [Teresa] 1/2 a cup.
1:31
- 1/2 a cup of chopped, diced Maraschino cherries, y'all.
1:37
And because I have to see it, I'm doing this part first,
1:43
but this is a pretty, pretty, pretty little--
1:47
- [Teresa] Oh, there's also some cherry juice sitting
1:49
on this little table, that's gonna go in as well,
1:52
and I just forgot to put it up there for you.
1:54
- I thought this was just put aside for me to drink,
2:00
- Okay, I love Maraschino cherries.
2:02
Okay, our water was boiling,
2:06
and I'm gonna add 1/3 of a cup
2:10
of the boiling water over our cold water and our gelatin.
2:18
And I'm gonna stir this,
2:19
make sure it's completely dissolved.
2:26
Look at that little whisk, isn't it cute?
2:29
- [Teresa] You have all kinds
2:31
of cute, little whisks just for this.
2:33
And you know, if I don't have it,
2:35
folks are so great out there,
2:39
they'll send me things that they really like,
2:47
I appreciate it so much.
2:51
'Cause I really don't, you know,
2:52
I don't get out much anymore.
2:56
- [Teresa] Well, it's too hot right now.
2:58
- Yeah, it is too hot.
2:59
Plus, I, you know, with me not driving anymore,
3:04
you know, I can't just get out and go.
3:07
All right, this needs to sit for about five minutes.
3:11
I'm gonna do my top, my talking,
3:14
while the mixer is not running,
3:17
so I'm gonna beat my whipping cream
3:21
until it's, you know, kind of bubbly.
3:30
And then I'm gonna add my 2/3 a cup of sugar slowly.
3:37
And then I'm gonna fold in my diced cherries,
3:41
my cherry juice, and the gelatin.
3:46
Okay, so all the sugar's added.
3:49
Now I'm gonna slowly add my gelatin.
3:57
And this is gonna make it real stiff,
4:02
so it'll do what we want it to do.
4:16
Make sure I got all the, all the goody out of the gelatin.
4:22
All right, so now I'm gonna fold in our cherry juice
4:29
and our chopped Maraschino cherries.
4:37
Cherries make any, any dessert kind of special, doesn't it?
4:42
You see a cherry and it's got to be good.
4:49
So see how pretty that is?
4:53
You could always add a little red food coloring to it
4:56
if you want it a little pinker, but I think that's nice
5:00
and it's a soft pink.
5:02
So in the refrigerator this goes for two hours,
5:08
and I'm gonna just stick it in the refrigerator drawer.
5:11
Listen, I ain't gonna make y'all suffer
5:14
watching me mix up a box of brownie mix.
5:19
So this is what we started with, box brownie,
5:24
but we didn't do it by the instructions on the back, y'all.
5:27
We added, I think, a 1/3 of a cup of oil,
5:32
two eggs, 1/4 of a cup of water.
5:36
- [Teresa] Yes, ma'am.
5:37
- [Paula] Some chocolate chips and vanilla.
5:40
- [Teresa] And vanilla.
5:41
- Just mix that together and you wanna bake it
5:44
on a jelly roll pan, which is a 15x10,
5:48
and so it's gonna be thin and ...
5:58
This direction, this ...
6:01
- [Teresa] I think that it might screw.
6:02
- You think it might screw?
6:04
I don't think it do screw.
6:15
All right, you would want to do it this size.
6:20
- [Teresa] Is this the for being fancy?
6:22
- [Paula] This is the fancy way.
6:29
You know, Teresa, I just don't have the strength
6:32
- [Teresa] Which is why we do it the lazy man's way.
6:34
- That's right, but this is really pretty.
6:40
And then our topping, we would put in a pastry bag,
6:46
give it a little squirt, and it would be a nice little bite
6:50
for a bunch of little ladies that have gotten together
6:52
for a shower, or a luncheon, or a bridge, whatever.
7:00
Just right, just right for that.
7:04
- [Teresa] We're not doing it that way.
7:05
- I don't think we ought to do it either.
7:09
I think, this is so good.
7:13
I think we just need to frost it.
7:15
- [Teresa] I'm with you, and guess what?
7:17
Frosting's already ready.
7:18
It's been two hours. - Yes.
7:22
So what do y'all think?
7:25
I've shown you how to do the fancy way,
7:29
if you want to impress somebody,
7:32
and then I'm gonna show you the way
7:35
that most families would likely find it easier
7:47
- [Teresa] This way, it doesn't look like a recipe
7:48
that you only make during-- - Right.
7:51
- [Teresa] The fancy season. - Right.
7:53
So I'm just stirring up my, my whipped cream.
8:01
Now, if I was gonna do that ...
8:12
Let me just show y'all.
8:20
Another thing that you could do, Teresa, if you didn't want
8:23
to use the heavy whipping cream and cherries,
8:28
you could drizzle melted,
8:36
you could ice it with a chocolate icing.
8:40
- [Teresa] What you do with brownies all the time
8:41
and they are fabulous. - I do, I don't like a brownie
8:43
that I don't frost it.
8:45
So if you wanted it frosted or you wanted it this way,
8:48
either way would work.
8:55
we're showing y'all from the web
9:01
that we have piped this in.
9:05
I'm not gonna put much in there
9:07
because I'm just gonna do the one.
9:18
Come on, stick to that brownie.
9:22
Look, you see how pretty that would be on a plate?
9:30
Really prim and proper and ladylike, isn't it?
9:35
- [Teresa] Now just dump it all over the top
9:36
and we'll be good to go.
9:37
- Yes. (Paula laughs)
9:40
- [Teresa] This is how we really do it.
9:42
- Yes, you know, there's several ways you can handle this.
9:51
You could, you could cut this into squares
9:56
and have your topping in the refrigerator
10:01
and top it as you go, as you eat it.
10:04
Because once you put this topping on it, y'all,
10:07
it's gonna have to be refrigerated, I'm afraid.
10:12
So I'm just gonna do part of it.
10:18
And then, oh, after I cut this off and cut it up,
10:27
I'm gonna frost the rest with the chocolate icing.
10:32
Or you could put this on a tray and pour ganache.
10:36
- [Teresa] Or white chocolate.
10:37
I mean, you could just drizzle with white chocolate.
10:39
- Yeah, and-- - [Teresa] Caramel.
10:41
There's so many things you could do.
10:43
- And you could top it with a almond or, or a pecan.
10:56
Hard to frost those holes.
11:03
Morning glory, it's delicious and easy.
11:16
Y'all, everything's all right.
11:18
They're putting an awning up out back
11:21
because it's so hot here that the sun goes down that way
11:25
and it is so blooming hot back there,
11:27
you can't go on the porch,
11:29
so they're putting in an awning for us.
11:34
The house is not collapsing.
