- Hey y'all!
0:01
Here in the Dean family camp,
0:04
we are celebrating with a recipe that is so deserving,
0:13
because it's father's day.
0:16
And it's also the first day of summer.
0:19
So, you know, there's just nothing like good old ice pops
0:25
cold fruit pops to give to the children.
0:29
You know, they actually kinda healthy.
0:32
Yeah. They healthy compared to some things aren't they?
0:36
[Camera Man] (LAUHGING) Like chocolate cake, or?
0:39
- But we're doing this, in honor of our fathers.
0:45
Because we want you to have a real cool day.
0:49
And these are for the kiddies,
0:53
because we want them to have a good, cool day too.
0:56
And that'll allow you to have a cool day too.
1:00
So I'm gonna take our raspberries,
1:06
beautiful, beautiful raspberries, Theresa.
1:09
- [Theresa] Thank you.
1:10
All right.
1:11
And we're going to puree these until they are really, puree.
1:18
You know, raspberries have a lot of little seeds.
1:24
And so the recipe and gosh
1:29
I've had this recipe so many years.
1:32
Y'all in fact, I've made this before
1:33
for some of my grandchildren and they love that ice cream.
1:39
(sink running)
1:41
So this is a wonderful way to give them what they want
1:45
without you worrying about so much sugar.
1:51
But now this does have sugar in it though.
1:54
I don't want to mislead you.
1:57
All right.
1:58
So, and go, oh, I better get a bowl, better get a bowl
2:03
Cause I'm fixing to throw the pop away and keep the scenes.
2:07
(LAUGHING)
2:09
which would be so Paula-ish.
2:14
So, what I'm going to do now.
2:22
Oh my goodness.
2:23
Look at that beautiful fruit y'all.
2:28
What I'm going to do is I'm going to encourage,
2:34
the juice to come out of there.
2:40
Therese could you pass me a spatular please?
2:43
- [Therese] Sure.
2:44
- [Paula] That rubber one it says, "butter y'all".
2:46
- [Theresa] Can't think about what a spatula was.
2:50
- Well my definition and yours are
2:52
probably two different things, so.
2:58
Now to me If our making this for my older grandchildren,
3:07
I wouldn't bother separating the seeds.
3:09
I would give them to them just like this is pureed out.
3:16
But since it's gonna be all kind of little ones
3:21
licking on these I am gonna remove the seeds.
3:29
And I'm going to do that by stirring and mashing
3:34
stirring and matching mashing, not matching.
3:40
It's coming.
3:44
So I got every bit of the goody out of it.
3:47
That is just the seeds y'all.
3:54
And it's still seeping through there.
4:01
Oh my goodness it smells heavenly
4:05
So there is our seedless, raspberry juice.
4:10
All right.
4:12
Now I'm gonna add some yogurt.
4:18
Stir that in.
4:26
And I'm going to add some lime juice, got a little tartness
4:37
And then I'm going to add, turbinado simple syrup.
4:47
Now this is two thirds
4:49
a cup of turbinado sugar and two thirds, a cup of water.
4:55
And you just put that on the heat until that sugar dissolves
5:04
- [Theresa] Then that one actually they ain't tell you Paula
5:06
they'd like you to cool it.
5:07
- Yeah.
5:08
- [Theresa] And it has to be made a little bit.
5:09
- [Paula] Yes. The reason it's already been done is
5:12
because it has to sit, but at least an hour to coupe.
5:17
So Theresa did go ahead and do that part earlier
5:20
which I appreciate.
5:24
This looks delicious.
5:31
I can see little pieces of the yogurt.
5:36
I know Cloud, you know, with me living right next door
5:42
in Bobby's guest's house, I can see a lot of things that go
5:46
on and see their routine and what Cloud gives them.
5:52
I mean, I got a front row seat on watching this
5:56
and I know she him yogurt every day of their life
6:00
but they have never tasted milk.
6:03
She will not give them milk.
6:06
I don't know the reason.
6:07
I don't know the reason.
6:08
And I certainly don't question it
6:14
but for some reason they get their dairy
6:18
through cheese and yogurt.
6:22
All right.
6:23
I'm going to use my handy dandy little,
6:27
- [Theresa] What would you do without that?
6:28
- I don't know.
6:29
And listen, it's so old Theresa, it's getting.
6:33
- [Theresa] Might have to glue it?
6:34
Oh my gosh.
6:35
I can't, I can't stand the thoughts of something
6:38
happening to do this thing.
6:40
I bought it at an antique shop somewhere.
6:44
I say antique I'm sure it was a junk shop.
6:48
Cause that was all I did
6:49
for years and years and years and years was junk shops.
6:54
So for some reason, I just love digging for my treasures.
6:58
I just left it.
6:59
- [Theresa] I think a lot of people do.
7:01
It's the find.
7:02
- Yeah.
7:03
- [Theresa] It's the thrill of the hunt.
7:05
- Yes. The hunt, the hunt.
7:07
It's all about the hunt.
7:12
I think I'm going to use my whisk because I'm seeing pieces
7:18
of yogurt.
7:22
And how would it be happier if it was blended.
7:28
Better a little bit better.
7:33
Theresa, where in the world did you get this.
7:36
- [Theresa] Amazon.
7:38
- Look.
7:39
- [Theresa] My favorite place.
7:40
- I mean this is so stinking cute.
7:43
It even comes with a little, your little funnel.
7:48
- [Theresa] Yeah.
7:50
So you don't make a big mess, but I tell you what
7:52
old Paula, I'll find a way to make a mess, I can promise.
7:55
Whoa!
7:56
- [Theresa] And there we have it.
7:58
- See (LAUGHING) what did I tell you.
8:02
- [Theresa] Now I read a little tip.
8:04
- [Paula] Yes, well share it with us.
8:07
- [Theresa] The little recipe book that came with it.
8:09
They say you should let these freeze for an hour and then
8:13
put your sticks in.
8:14
- [Paula] That's right, if you're using a small paper cup
8:18
that's exactly what you would do.
8:21
- [Theresa] And then were gonna freeze them overnight
8:23
and when we shoot tomorrow Paula your gonna get to bring
8:25
them back out again.
8:26
- [Paula] Yes. So, but here's the deal y'all.
8:30
This ice pop get up, has the lid with holes in it.
8:40
So you don't have to freeze them until they're semi-frozen.
8:45
You just send them through those slits and it holds them up.
8:48
I love it.
8:49
You know, it's the little things that can make me so happy.
8:53
I just love this trick that Theresa got on Amazon.
9:00
Look, that's got a little cover and all you do.
9:05
Let's see, I got, I got two, four, six.
9:11
What is it?
9:12
10. I got nine.
9:17
I think let's go ahead, peek.
9:20
Okay. Yeah.
9:27
And see, by using this little contraption, you don't have to
9:32
wait until it's half frozen because this little top
9:38
keep some standing up right in the center.
9:42
I love it.
9:44
And this is probably going to take a few hours to
9:49
to freeze.
9:53
Theresa did a good day's work when she
9:57
- [Theresa] (LAUGHING) It was so hard.
9:59
- [Paula] found this well, when you found that when you did
10:00
a good day's work sister.
10:04
Alright now, I'll put these on our tray
10:08
because our freezer is outside.
10:14
So I don't want to trip (LAUGHS)
10:15
or I don't want to drop this.
10:17
In fact, I think I'm going to pass it on to Theresa.
10:20
She's younger and more surefooted than me.
10:23
(LAUGHING)
10:24
Okay. It would be good if I had set these out a few minutes
10:29
but I walked straight from the freezer into the counter.
10:34
So they'd be a lot easier to get out.
10:37
If you let them fall for a second.
10:41
There we go.
10:44
This looks like a professional fruit pop doesn't it.
10:48
- [Camera Man] Mm.
10:50
- Here we go.
10:52
- [Theresa] Made by you.
10:53
- Made by us.
11:00
It's so tart.
11:01
So refreshing, very strong raspberry taste.
11:07
So if you're not a fan of raspberries
11:09
you could use any fruit you want.
11:12
- [Theresa] Blueberries, strawberries.
11:13
Yeah, blueberries would be so good or strawberries
11:16
- [Theresa] Paula questions for you
11:17
because we put lime juice in there.
11:18
Would you still keep it as long juice with any fruit
11:22
- Yeah, or lemon.
11:23
- [Theresa] Okay. I didn't know if there was a, a rule.
11:25
- Yeah. Just to give it that little tart,
11:27
that little tart flavor.
11:33
Would you Like a bottle of my yogurt pop?
11:36
- [Theresa] I'll take it from you.
11:37
So never gets upset from the backend.
11:40
- Oh.
11:41
- [Theresa] I know.
11:43
- We're all clean we've spent so much time with each other.
11:46
What do you think?
11:47
- [Theresa] These are so good. I mean
11:49
- [Paula] you like it?
11:50
- [Theresa] I was scared based on your face was I was like.
11:53
- It was tart.
11:54
- [Theresa] It's got a good tart to it.
11:56
- [Paula] Uh huh. Good tart.
11:58
- [Theresa] It's creamy.
11:59
- All right Eddie, you can take a bite right there.
12:03
(LAUGHING)
12:04
- [Theresa] Yeah that drives him nuts.
12:06
- Eddie is so nice nasty.
12:10
Mm.
12:13
- [Theresa] That might be a little too tart for the babies
12:16
unless they really - It might be, but they eat
12:17
- [Paula] So much fruit.
12:19
I mean they love raspberries.
12:20
- [Theresa] Do they like lemons?
12:22
- Mm.
12:23
- [Theresa] Then they'll be fine then.
12:24
- [Eddie] And pickles,
12:25
Olivia was chucking - Oh they'll be fine
12:27
- [Theresa] they'll be better than us.
12:28
- Mm. Oliva is like a fruit eater you have ever met.
12:35
I mean, she is.
12:37
So I'm going to put these back in the freezer unless y'all
12:42
want on does anybody here want one?
12:44
- [Theresa] Not right now.
12:44
- Y'all want one?
12:46
You got to do this and you got to get
12:47
this little contraption from Amazon.
12:50
- [Theresa] I'm surprised you finally used it.
12:51
- I know.
12:53
- [Theresa] Now I know how to use it.
12:54
- I know, it's just great.
12:57
And I know this has got to be better
12:58
for us than like.
13:01
- [Theresa] well it's natural, it's all natural,
13:03
I mean even if it though it has some sugar in it.
13:05
- Yeah. Mm, It's good y'all gotta try it.
13:12
Perfect for the summer.
13:13
- [Theresa] Mm.
13:14
- You can put that back in the freezer.
13:16
- I sure am.
13:17
- Thank you, Thank you.
13:20
And the colors are pretty.
13:25
Bye y'all I'm going to eat my yogurt pop.
