- Hey, y'all it's Jamie Deen.
0:01
And I'm back here at Momma's kitchen
0:02
sharing easy, delicious recipes with y'all.
0:05
Today, we're gonna do a Chicken Florentine,
0:09
When you tell your family you're making
0:11
Chicken Florentine for dinner,
0:13
Ooh, the love you're going to get
0:16
from your family for making Chicken Florentine.
0:19
Surprise! It's canned soup
0:21
and just a couple of other things.
0:24
Don't be intimidated by this recipe at all.
0:27
Now, what we're gonna start with is,
0:28
we've taken three chicken breasts,
0:30
and a good way to do chicken y'all
0:32
when you're cooking this stuff,
0:33
if, if you want to, you can buy rotisserie chicken
0:36
from the grocery store, which is the absolute easiest way
0:38
for you to get really good chicken.
0:41
But if you get your chicken breast,
0:43
season your water with salt and some pepper,
0:44
and I, I cannot do it without throwing in an onion,
0:48
some carrots, a little bit of celery,
0:49
boil your chicken down
0:51
and then use two forks and you shred it.
0:53
That's a really good idea.
0:55
What we've done here today is that Mama had an extra fryer
0:58
so I've pulled this fresh off the bone and we've got one box
1:02
of spinach that's gonna go with this.
1:05
You gotta thaw this out, microwave it,
1:07
and before you combine these two things,
1:10
you're gonna want to give this a squeeze.
1:13
Frozen spinach has got a tremendous amount of water in it
1:17
and you don't want this in your recipe,
1:19
so after you thaw this,
1:22
give it a really good squeeze.
1:26
So that's how we're gonna start today,
1:28
with the exciting news of me squeezing spinach,
1:31
and when you get back, we'll be done
1:32
and my hands will be clean.
1:34
Okay y'all, this is our sauce for our chicken Florentine.
1:37
We're using one can of cream of mushroom soup,
1:42
we've got some lemon juice,
1:46
we've got shredded cheddar,
1:49
we're gonna add our mayonnaise,
2:04
and this is our curry powder.
2:09
We've got some white wine going in,
2:12
and we're just gonna salt and pepper this to taste.
2:17
So I'm gonna give it a good pinch
2:18
because I know that spinach is gonna need it,
2:20
but our chicken is really good 'n' seasoned
2:22
and that's a good trick;
2:24
to take the time to season your chicken.
2:27
So, I love to season as I cook,
2:31
so every element gets their own little dash of this or that.
2:34
The chicken comes in, delicious, ready to eat,
2:36
so you don't have to worry about seasoning the chicken.
2:39
And then, so, that just gives you a head start
2:43
on building your flavor, whatever it might be.
2:45
So, our sauce here, you see, is pretty liquidy.
2:48
Once we get this work in together
2:50
we're gonna pour this over our spinach and chicken.
2:59
Now, if you click on the link below,
3:00
y'all know that you'll find all the measurements
3:07
And I've actually taken this recipe and I've cut it in half.
3:11
This is a, a big recipe, but I believe half of it
3:15
is right perfect for a family of four.
3:19
We get all this incorporated good and together.
3:22
A classic Chicken Florentine, it's got the cheese,
3:24
the chicken, the spinach, a little bit of wine,
3:27
the lemon juice is gonna give it some acidity.
3:31
It's really good. My mouth is watering this morning.
3:33
I'm... have a feeling I might be having
3:35
Chicken Florentine for lunch.
3:38
So, I've got our, our little casserole dish here,
3:42
sprayed with non-stick,
3:44
cause we don't want any of this to stick.
3:47
My Momma just walked in so I gotta make sure
3:50
and scrape all these edges.
3:54
- Profits are in the corners.
3:57
- And then I'm gonna pat all this down
4:00
and our last little step that we've got here...
4:09
We've got some bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese.
4:13
Well here, here, I'm gonna combine these two together
4:24
and then we're gonna top our Florentine with our chicken
4:30
This is gonna give it some nice texture,
4:32
a little crunch right on top,
4:34
and the Parmesan is gonna add a little salty bite to it
4:37
And you see it's that easy y'all.
4:40
You made Chicken Florentine for your family.
4:42
How simple. This gonna go in the oven at 350 degrees
4:45
for maybe 25 or 30 minutes, just enough to set up.
4:48
Everything in here is already prepared,
4:50
so you don't have to worry about
4:51
undercooked chicken or anything like that.
4:53
Get it right into the oven and we'll get to eatin'.
4:57
So hey y'all, my Chicken Florentine is out of the oven.
4:58
You know I told you that your family will be so impressed
5:00
when you make them Chicken Florentine?
5:03
Look at the family I drug out of the-
5:05
- [Groover] I'm so excited.
5:05
- [Jamie] (inaudible) today.
5:08
- [Groover] I'm ready.
5:09
- [Jamie] Chicken Florentine, brother.
5:10
- [Groover] Let's try it.
5:11
- [Momma] Let's show it to 'em first.
5:12
- [Jamie] Okay. Still kind of hot.
5:15
It just came outta the oven.
5:16
See if I still got my kitchen hands.
5:19
- The only thing I did not tell y'all;
5:21
the first part of this recipe was,
5:23
I had some butter and you're gonna wanna pat
5:26
a little bit of butter on top of this.
5:28
So, just little bitty pats of butter
5:31
on top of your Parmesan and-
5:34
- [Groover] Could you explain what
5:35
a little bitty pat of butter is?
5:37
- Not to you I couldn't.
5:43
- Yeah for you it is.
5:46
- That's gonna be hot.
5:49
- So the, the Panco and the, the,
5:53
our Parmesan cheese on top, that little bit of butter,
5:55
you see how pretty that's browned up?
5:58
- [Jamie] Now this might be a little hot.
6:01
- [Groover] It looks a little warm.
6:06
- Listen, if you're smart when you cook,
6:09
you'll invite people into your kitchen
6:11
that will eat anything that you make and love it.
6:14
- Groover is a good person to cook for.
6:18
- [Jamie] I've never seen him, not one time,
6:20
- I'm, I'm, not making this up, it's good.
6:22
- [Jamie] Hmm mmm. This is really good.
6:27
Easy to put together and kind of outside
6:29
of your daily box of food that you might do.
6:31
Chicken Florentine y'all.
6:32
Appreciate you tuning in today.
6:34
I'll see y'all around the kitchen.
6:37
- [Jamie] Say bye peeps.
