I'm kinda fillin' in for my mom today.
0:06
I've got a really very, very simple recipe
0:10
that I think everybody's gonna like.
0:12
If you like tomatoes, you'll like this recipe.
0:17
And it's just so easy.
0:19
We're gonna start with, I've got a can of plum tomatoes.
0:24
They're peeled and just canned, you know,
0:28
so no big deal there.
0:29
They, they make these, they come in,
0:32
I use these oftentimes for I, well, I'll tell you what.
0:34
I do a really good five-bean chili,
0:40
and I use these in my five-bean chili,
0:42
and they come in sort of bigger cans,
0:46
so you might have to...
0:49
If you want to scale back on this recipe
0:50
with, like, with the number of people
0:51
that you're cooking for,
0:53
you might have to buy two
0:54
and use one and a half cans, or, you know,
0:56
you might have to just play with it a little bit,
0:58
but I don't think that they'll go to waste,
1:00
because they're gonna be so very good,
1:04
and something else that's fun for you
1:06
that are into air-frying out there,
1:08
we're gonna use our air fryer to make these, so here we go.
1:11
I'm just gonna start by putting our tomatoes
1:14
into an oven-safe baking dish
1:18
and try to have enough of 'em that they all sort of touch,
1:24
and don't have a lot of space in the dish.
1:27
And this is a perfect amount.
1:31
Who doesn't like tomatoes?
1:32
Well, don't answer that.
1:34
I know some people don't.
1:35
I've got one of my kids, one of my daughters, just,
1:38
I buy a package of little Roma tomatoes
1:43
and she just eats them like raisins.
1:46
And I don't stop her.
1:50
What's gonna make these tomatoes good?
1:53
and we're gonna use a whole stick of butter.
1:57
So I'm just gonna cut some chunks of butter here
2:01
and just drop 'em in.
2:04
Before I do that, though,
2:05
let me sprinkle a little salt on these tomatoes.
2:07
These will sometimes come in unsalted too.
2:11
You can get low-sodium variety of these tomatoes.
2:16
And I think that these might have been unsalted.
2:18
So I'm gonna go ahead and add some salt to 'em,
2:21
and then I'm just gonna cut some butter
2:24
and drop it right on top.
2:27
This is a very, very simple recipe
2:32
that's gonna be a big hit with your guests
2:36
So if you're doing Italian one night,
2:40
this'll be a great little addition.
2:43
So we want these tomatoes to warm all the way through.
2:48
So before we add our cheese, all right,
2:50
which is gonna be the topper, is Parmesan cheese,
2:52
ooh, one of my favorites,
2:54
we're gonna pop this dish into the air fryer,
2:58
I don't know, for five or ten minutes on about 350
3:02
and just get these tomatoes warmed all the way through
3:04
and get the butter melted and have them nestled
3:06
in that melted butter down in the bottom.
3:08
Then we'll come and add our Parmesan cheese,
3:10
and we'll pop 'em back in the air fryer.
3:12
So quick break right now while I put 'em in.
3:16
Our tomatoes and butter look beautiful.
3:20
The butter's beginning to bubble,
3:22
and it's definitely melted,
3:24
and the tomatoes look good.
3:25
So now we're just gonna add our Parmesan cheese to the top.
3:29
Mm. They smell so good already.
3:34
There are probably a lot of different ways
3:35
you could mix this dish up.
3:38
So if you wanted to add anything to it,
3:41
add some peppers or some onions or some meat, you know.
3:45
I love the idea of getting creative,
3:48
but this recipe is very simple.
3:49
It's just tomatoes, butter, and Parmesan cheese.
3:56
Yeah, what do they say?
3:57
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
3:58
So maybe don't try to get creative with it.
4:01
So we're gonna turn our oven up full-blast here,
4:05
pop it back in for, I don't know,
4:08
let's check it in about five minutes.
4:11
(air frying whooshing)
4:12
So we'll be right back.
4:13
Our tomatoes are outta the air fryer,
4:15
and they look and smell fantastic.
4:17
Theresa and I were talking about this a little bit
4:20
This would be a great side dish
4:22
if you made yourself a steak and a nice salad at the house,
4:25
These tomatoes would be a perfect side dish.
4:28
They look and smell so good.
4:32
So I'm just gonna take one out here.
4:35
- [Bobby] Mm-hm. So simple.
4:38
Look at that beautiful...
4:39
Oh my gosh. Look at that.
4:43
That beautiful plum tomato.
4:44
I'm just gonna take one and try it.
4:51
Sho' is good. Oh, boy, look at that.
4:55
Hope I don't burn myself right here on camera
4:59
- [Theresa] Be careful.
5:07
- [Theresa] I always like that little surprised look
5:09
It's kind of like, you know it's gonna be good,
5:11
but then you automatically go, wow.
5:13
Better than I expected.
5:15
Even though I love tomatoes.
5:22
- [Theresa] But you could, like, Italian seasoning on that.
5:25
You could put all kinds of things on them.
5:27
- I wouldn't do anything to this.
5:29
I wouldn't change that at all.
5:33
That's a lot of butter, I know.
5:34
But look, the butter is gonna,
5:36
you're not gonna eat all the butter,
5:38
and unless you use a straw and suck it out,
5:40
you're not, you're just not gonna eat all the butter.
5:43
These tomatoes are, oh my gosh, are they wonderful.
5:46
So the trick here was,
5:48
we put the tomatoes into the baking dish
5:54
and put the butter on top,
5:56
and we put it in the air fryer,
5:57
and we let them cook for about 10,
6:00
maybe 15 minutes at 350 until the butter began
6:02
to sort of percolate and boil
6:05
and the tomatoes got nice and warm and soft
6:07
Then we came back, opened it up and added the cheese
6:10
and popped it back in the air fryer for a few minutes,
6:12
and, oh my gosh, what a great side dish.
