- Hey, y'all.
0:02
I'm Jamie Dean I'm here in Mama's kitchen.
0:06
This is Davis. This is our third son who just turned two.
0:09
Davis, can you say hi?
0:10
- Hi.
0:11
- Hi.
0:12
And so you know that we are a busy family.
0:15
Jack is turning 16 this summer.
0:17
Falls in, he's back in school.
0:19
Oh my gosh, Matthew's 11.
0:20
Middle school football practices started.
0:23
I've blessed to be able to help coach,
0:26
so I'm doing that.
0:27
And then Brooke's got a million things going on.
0:29
Today's a busy day,
0:30
so Davis is here with Daddy a little bit,
0:33
and we're gonna make a delicious sandwich.
0:35
This is perfect for the fall time.
0:38
We're talking about football season's coming.
0:40
Whether it's middle school,
0:41
high school or the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs.
0:44
Say, "Go Dawgs."
0:46
- Go Dawgs.
0:47
- Go Dawgs, sic 'em.
0:48
He's wearing one Croc today,
0:49
so, we're just like y'all,
0:51
we keep it together as best as we can.
0:53
Sometimes we like to be barefoot, barefoot, barefoot.
0:59
So this sandwich, y'all, is something great
1:01
that you can prepare at the house.
1:02
You can carry it to the tailgate.
1:03
It's easy to reheat if you wanna put it on a grill,
1:06
or if you have an air fryer.
1:08
So, let's get started.
1:09
Davis, you wanna get down? Can Daddy have a kiss?
1:11
Oh, I love you.
1:13
(blows raspberry)
1:14
Go find your brother. Go, go, go.
1:16
So I got a big Pyrex pan here.
1:19
8 by 13? What is it Theresa? 9 by 12.
1:23
- [Theresa] 9 by 13.
1:24
- It's a 9 by 13.
1:25
Everybody knows that. I'm gonna lightly spray that.
1:28
And I've got a pack of crescent rolls.
1:31
I love the crescent rolls and I use them,
1:33
not as crescent rolls really,
1:35
but it's just a sheet of puff pastry,
1:37
that's portable, easy, and versatile for me.
1:40
I make a million different things with these.
1:43
So we're gonna pop one out.
1:45
Let's find our line.
1:48
Now here's something that you might have to do
1:53
if your pan is a little bit bigger than mine,
1:55
you know you can easily stretch this out,
1:58
and we'll pinch together the bottom.
2:00
So what we've done is we've taken eight crescent rolls,
2:03
and we've made really one piece of puff pastry.
2:08
So, I'm gonna get this in.
2:10
And then over here, right next to it
2:12
is everything that we're gonna put in
2:13
our sandwich bake today.
2:15
And I'm going with the original Holy Trinity:
2:18
ham, turkey, and roast beef.
2:20
I have a half a pound of each of those,
2:22
and I have two eight-ounce packages of cheese.
2:25
Now, I've chosen to use mozzarella and provolone,
2:29
because that's what my family likes.
2:31
But if you want to use shredded, American, smoked Gouda,
2:35
anything that you'd like, all the cheeses here will work.
2:37
And then we're gonna put together
2:38
a really quick little flavor profile
2:40
to sweep in there.
2:41
But first, this is going in the oven for 10 minutes.
2:44
Y'all stick around.
2:45
It's a giant baked sandwich coming up.
2:47
Mmmm mmm.
2:50
Y'all look, I got my crescent roll completely done here.
2:53
All right.
2:54
Layer one of delicious flavor. I've got butter.
2:57
This is a quarter of a cup that I melted down.
3:00
I have two, I think this is teaspoons, of mustard.
3:07
And then I have, going into this,
3:11
just one tablespoon,
3:14
of Worcestershire sauce,
3:19
pronounced "Woosteshire" sauce
3:21
in other parts of the country.
3:22
I'm gonna just give this a quick little spin through here.
3:26
Worcestershire, butter, and mustard, don't you know.
3:30
As my daddy would say, we are cooking with gas this morning.
3:33
You can put that anywhere, Theresa, thank you.
3:35
- [Theresa] Sorry.
3:36
- So I'm gonna put half of this on this crescent roll.
3:43
And this is gonna bake into here.
3:45
I did 10 minutes.
3:47
It's browned up a little bit.
3:48
It's a little soft in the center,
3:49
but this is gonna be a soft sandwich
3:50
when you see the amount of cheese that I'm putting in here.
3:54
And plus, we're gonna bake this again on the back end.
3:56
So, I'm real happy with 10 minutes here.
3:59
Golly, that mustard is just gonna be so good in here.
4:03
Now like I told y'all earlier,
4:04
we're doing big sandwiches.
4:06
This is a pound and a half of meat.
4:09
I went a half pound of ham, roast beef, and turkey,
4:12
and I've got my eight ounces of cheese here.
4:14
So, I'm gonna do cheese first.
4:17
All this is going on.
4:20
Yes. All of it is going on.
4:22
I'm gonna put my mozzarella down on the bottom,
4:26
and I'm gonna layer my meats here.
4:30
I'm gonna do some roast beef.
4:34
Now this is really,
4:35
you can make this three different sandwiches if you want.
4:39
You could drag it all down to one end
4:41
and you could say, "All right y'all,
4:43
we got the top third is roast beef,
4:44
the middle third is gonna be turkey,
4:46
and then your far end will be ham."
4:50
But since this is just me and y'all,
4:52
I'm gonna do it the way I'd like to do it,
4:54
and I'm gonna combine it all.
4:57
Now I know you're saying,
4:58
"Golly, that is an awful lot of meat
5:00
you're putting on there, big boy."
5:02
Well, that's what Mama's recipe calls for,
5:04
and that's what I'm gonna do,
5:05
'cause this serves 12 people.
5:07
I'm telling you, this is perfect for a tailgate.
5:11
And right on top of here,
5:14
I'm gonna do our provolone cheese.
5:20
Mmhmm boy that, yes please.
5:24
Okay. Now, our last thing.
5:27
I've got one more tube of this crescent roll.
5:36
Today, the day that I'm filming this,
5:39
we have 29 days until I get to go watch
5:41
the University of Georgia play football.
5:43
- [Theresa] This would be a great tailgate sandwich.
5:45
- Perfect for a tailgate.
5:48
And then if you've got any kind of little electric oven
5:51
or grill or something that you use for your tailgates,
5:56
this would be perfect popped in there and reheated it.
5:59
If you make it at the house, cool it, slice it,
6:02
wrap it some foil, and then throw it in your heater
6:04
right there at the tailgate.
6:06
And man, it is just gonna be perfect.
6:12
Worcestershire, mustard, butter.
6:17
This is gonna brown up so pretty.
6:24
I hear Mama just talking away in the back.
6:27
It's been raining here this morning.
6:30
It's a good day to get in the kitchen and do some cooking.
6:36
Very lastly, y'all, I'm gonna sprinkle this
6:39
with some sesame seeds.
6:42
You know what? They sell black sesame seeds
6:44
that would be really pretty on here,
6:45
but we've got our mustard seeds
6:46
that are already kind of dark.
6:48
I'm just gonna sprinkle this around,
6:50
and it'll look like the top of a bun.
6:52
Is this cooled off? Little enough.
6:54
Okay. So this is-- ooh it's still hot.
6:57
So this, y'all, is now gonna go back into the oven
6:59
for 15 minutes. Let's go!
7:01
- [Theresa] Hold up, cover.
7:03
- Oh, oh, oh.
7:06
If it weren't for the women in my life,
7:07
y'all, I'd be walking down the middle of the street
7:08
with no pants on.
7:10
Like Theresa says, cover it.
7:12
We're gonna cover it with foil.
7:13
And then it's gonna go for 15 minutes. Ooh!
7:18
Y'all, look at this.
7:22
I got a couple things going on with the stove here.
7:25
Well it's almost ready, Matt. You ready?
7:27
This is our sandwiches that we made, y'all,
7:29
now let's take a look.
7:31
I've let this cool for a few minutes.
7:34
- [Theresa] I got you.
7:35
- Now, how am I gonna do this? Should I go three layers?
7:41
Let's go.
7:45
- [Theresa] Listen to that crunch.
7:46
- Mm mm mm.
7:48
So I'm gonna go three wide.
7:51
(pastry crunching)
8:10
Mm I'm almost speechless.
8:13
So I made these on this end a little bit bigger.
8:15
So I'm going on this end.
8:18
Let's see what we got here.
8:21
Mm mm mm.
8:24
- [Theresa] Is it cut through?
8:27
- Ooh ooh ooh ooh,
8:30
Not quite there.
8:36
- [Theresa] You're teasing us.
8:39
- Well, I've come unprepared.
8:43
Still have a towel to handle this hot pan.
8:47
There we go.
8:52
Holy Moses, y'all.
8:55
I mean, takes a little bit of work to get this sandwich,
9:00
but I bet every minute was worth it.
9:06
Let me get one right here for my boy.
9:10
Mmm.
9:16
The thing about this is, you bring this to your tailgate,
9:21
and it might not matter which team wins.
9:25
- [Theresa] Be careful.
9:26
- Hmm mmm
9:30
Great day in the morning!
9:32
(hums)
9:36
I'm getting in the game.
9:37
That's a damn good sandwich.
9:39
I'll see you all around the kitchen.
9:41
(hums)
