- Y'all, I'm gonna make something that's so good
0:03
to feed our big old sweet tooth.
0:06
My grandchildren, and Michael and me, the big children,
0:12
we love s'mores, but I know it's nothing like
0:16
compared to a lot of the country, but it's been cool,
0:20
so we tend not to go outside and grill out.
0:23
And that's where you think
0:25
you are gonna be wanting to make your s'mores.
0:29
And you poor folks that are dealing with
0:31
snow, and ice, and all that,
0:36
this will be a quick and easy way
0:38
to make s'mores for the family, but do 'em inside.
0:43
You don't have to face the weather.
0:45
So I actually got a recipe in "Southern Baking" book
0:52
but I'm changing it around just a little.
0:56
(Paula clearing throat) Like I said, because I can.
0:59
(chuckling) 'Cause I can.
1:02
I love almond, almond flavor.
1:05
So what I'm doing is I'm melting 11 ounces of Hershey bars,
1:14
and I wanna just get that melted because I'm gonna add like,
1:18
a half a teaspoon of almond extract to it.
1:22
Like I said, Michael and I just love
1:30
So like I said, I'm just gonna do
1:35
like a half a teaspoon,
1:37
and then I'm going to stir in some roasted salt,
1:42
salty almonds, whole almonds.
1:46
And then we're gonna top our melted chocolate
1:50
with some miniature marshmallows.
1:54
And I just went to cut on my broiler, and my broiler,
1:57
I can't get my broiler to come on.
2:00
It's gas, and there's some reason
2:03
it just doesn't wanna fire,
2:06
so I'm just going to stick these in a regular oven
2:10
and to get my marshmallows melting.
2:15
If that doesn't work, I'll use my torch.
2:18
But I'm gon' get 'em melted some way or another.
2:25
Now you can, depends on how many folks
2:28
you're making this for,
2:31
you can double, double the chocolate amount.
2:38
Or you can lessen it to if you just want it
2:41
for the two of y'all, just do it in a small skillet.
2:46
I'm gonna throw just a handful
2:51
of roasted salted almonds.
2:57
And I love the salty and the sweet together.
3:01
I've got this on real low, y'all.
3:13
I think it could stand another little drop of almonds.
3:25
So I probably wound up putting a teaspoon in.
3:32
Uh-oh, I'm gonna cut this off
3:34
'cause it's starting to get real hot.
3:39
All right, so I'm gonna just top it with our marshmallows.
4:06
And like I said, I'm gonna have to
4:09
just put this in a regular oven and let it bake.
4:19
I'm gonna have chocolate everywhere. (chuckling)
4:27
I may just torch 'em.
4:31
- [Assistant] I think you should let 'em melt
4:33
just a few minutes in the oven.
4:35
- [Assistant] And then torch the top.
4:49
So here's what I would do.
4:53
You know, you just have to try things
4:55
and if they work, good,
4:56
if they don't, then you can improve it some.
5:03
I would not melt these on top of the stove,
5:09
but I felt like I had to 'cause I put in the almond extract
5:12
and I had to mix it in.
5:14
So next time I make these,
5:15
I'll just put my chocolate in there
5:18
and top it with my choice of nuts,
5:22
cover it with marshmallows, and then put it in the oven.
5:26
But (scoffs) I'm one of those crazy folks.
5:31
If I eat a Hershey, the little miniature Hershey bars,
5:35
I'll hold it in my hand
5:37
or either I'll sit on it to get it warm,
5:40
and if I'm in the car, I'll put it up on the sun visor
5:44
'cause I just love, love, love melted chocolate. (laughing)
5:50
That's my story, morning glory, and I'm sticking to it.
5:59
