0:00
- You can't watch football without some hot wings, can you?
0:06
So I'm gonna share a recipe with y'all.
0:09
It's air fryer hot wings.
0:12
And I love the combination
0:15
that we're gonna eventually be putting 'em in
0:18
because they remind me of a little,
0:23
almost a little Asian flare to 'em.
0:26
And so to get us started,
0:30
now I used just like, the whole wing from the grocery store,
0:36
and I just got through cutting off their tips
0:39
and cutting them in half.
0:40
So we got the drumstick
0:42
and we got the flapper part. (chuckles)
0:44
And I love this flapper part.
0:48
Alright, so to get us started,
0:50
I need like two tablespoons of olive oil.
0:53
You know, I'm gonna measure this just for giggles.
0:56
I just wanna make sure
0:59
that I do have two tablespoons in here.
1:05
Perfect, what an eye, Theresa.
1:08
- [Theresa] You did good on that one.
1:09
You did good. (metal clanging)
1:14
And I'm gonna need two tablespoons of honey.
1:21
Now I may, I may use a little bit more honey
1:27
'cause I just do kind of like 'em with that sweet.
1:39
And see, by spraying that, every bit of that honey
1:41
just rolls right out of there.
1:50
This is the best honey in the world.
2:02
Alright, and I'm gonna need
2:05
about an eighth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
2:12
So I'm gonna kind of do it like that.
2:21
Now, I'm just cooking a dozen wings right now
2:27
because I just wanna show y'all,
2:32
show and share this recipe with y'all
2:40
in case you wanna make 'em.
2:41
So I've got that mixed up real good together.
2:45
And I'm gonna just put that to the side.
2:49
All right, so in this bowl,
2:50
I'm gonna add a tablespoon of salt
2:55
and I'm gonna add a tablespoon of baking powder.
3:05
- [Theresa] What is the baking powder gonna do in that?
3:07
- It's gonna kind of act as flour.
3:10
- [Theresa] Okay, so it'll get, like it's crispy?
3:12
- Yeah. It will help do that.
3:18
- [Theresa] That's a new one.
3:21
- You know, when you're frying things, coin starch.
3:29
Sometimes I'll do like half coin starch, half flour.
3:33
Sure does make it good.
3:38
All right, and we are gonna toss our chicken wings
3:47
in this concoction cooking.
3:52
So, where did I put my spray?
3:57
They make these wonderful liners, y'all,
4:04
Makes it so good when you don't have to,
4:08
you know, wash the whole thing every time.
4:12
It just catches your,
4:20
All right, so we wanna make sure
4:23
those are kind of in a single layer
4:27
and then I'm gonna spray 'em
4:32
because that helps 'em crisp up.
4:39
And we're gonna cook these for 10 minutes at 200 degrees.
4:44
And then we're gonna come back with another step
4:47
to finish cooking these yummy little chicken morsels.
4:53
So y'all remember our honey and our olive oil
4:57
that we mixed together at the start of this recipe?
5:05
So you can see they're not even close to being done.
5:08
That was just 10 minutes at 200 degrees.
5:13
Well now we fixing a turn it up, Sister.
5:16
We're going to turn up the heat.
5:21
I think we might wanna use a clean liner.
5:29
- Okay, so we just wanna coat this real good.
5:40
Make sure every piece is coated.
5:47
And I think- - I'm gonna grab this.
5:49
- Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you.
5:57
My aunt Peggy said the best hot wing she's ever eaten
6:03
And that makes me very happy.
6:06
These are gonna be ever so much good.
6:15
And it may sound like a lot of trouble, but it's really not.
6:22
It's just remembering to set your temperature to start off
6:27
with at one temperature.
6:31
And then after 10 minutes, we turning up that heat.
6:38
We're gonna start cooking with gas.
6:46
Look, it fell right where it was supposed to go.
6:54
Okay, another quick spray.
7:01
We're setting our air fryer
7:05
at 400 degrees for 15 minutes,
7:13
So don't those look good, y'all?
7:17
- Smells. - Smells heavenly.
7:27
That honey has just done magic on them.
7:36
and back in there to finish their suntanning. (chuckles)
7:41
The final step, y'all, for these fabulous wings,
7:46
I'm putting them back where they first started,
7:52
but the bowl is clean now.
7:56
And that was 15 minutes at 400 degrees the last go around.
8:11
Okay, now I have some melted butter.
8:15
It was melted and then it sat here and got a little hard.
8:20
And I've got my pepper jelly
8:25
and I'm gonna mix those two things together
8:30
and give them a stir.
8:41
And then I'm gonna pour this over our wings,
8:46
making sure they get a good pepper, red pepper bath.
8:57
Last step and then we get to eat, y'all.
9:02
This is a dozen wings.
9:05
Wouldn't last but a second here at my house.
9:08
But it was enough for me to prepare
9:13
to show y'all a surefire winning way to serve hot wings.
9:28
Come get you a wing, Theresa.
9:30
- [Theresa] They look good.
9:34
- Well, they taste better than they look.
9:38
- [Theresa] Taking one of your flappers.
9:39
- Mm-mm, take my flapper.
9:41
- [Theresa] Kinda like you, ooh, they're hot.
9:47
They're hot temperature-wise,
9:48
but not heat-wise, are they?
9:50
- [Theresa] Mm, they're good.
9:53
- [Theresa] Tailgating, here I come.
9:54
- Mm-mm, you wanna wing Eddie?
10:01
Happy tailgating y'all.
10:03
