How to Clean and Season Cast Iron - Tuesday Tips
Jan 17, 2017
In today's Tuesday tips, Bobby shows us the best way to season a cast iron skillet. Because iron rusts, you can't use soap and water.
For cast iron skillets that have a lot of stick on stuff and are quite dirty, put a baking sheet on the lower rack and then put the cast iron skillet upside down in the oven at 325 for an hour.
Another way to clean cast iron is to put a tablespoon of vegetable oil in the skillet and wipe out everything with a paper towel.
Bobby's favorite method of cleaning and seasoning cast iron is to put a coarse salt into the cast iron and rub it into the cast iron pan to scrub out any baked on items.
